Chapter 1354

Alexander Foster was silent for a mont before saying, "I slept with her last night."

Charles Carrington was abruptly quiet, then burst into laughter, "Wow, you really are... a great man."

He carefully articulated the words "great man".

"What era are we in now? Sleeping together ans you have to get married? Was it her idea?"

There was a chilly silence from the other end of the line.

Charles Carrington seem to envision his icy pupils, and thus sobered up, asking seriously, "If this hadn’t happened, would you still be proposing at this ti?"

Alexander answered casually, "This was within the plan; as you said, I would seize the opportunity."

Charles Carrington laughed again, "So, you thought last night was the right ti?"

"Alex, I have to say, you’re pretty naive."

"Enough with the useless chatter," the icy male voice responded coldly.

"Alright, then I need to think about it."

Charles Carrington thought for a bit, then frowned, "I don’t have any ideas. Honestly, I’ve never proposed before, so I have no experience."

"Hanging up."

Alexander’s voice ca through and not a second later, a dial tone echoed from the phone.

Charles Carrington hadn’t regained his composure. He remained silent for a while, then suddenly burst into laughter.

It was a laugh filled with blessings.

In the bedroom.

Layla Lowell blinked, let her gaze sweep the room, and then froze.

Perhaps it was all too dreamlike. She slapped her face hard, then forced her eyes open to look again.

She couldn’t help but curse.

She could probably rember what happened last night. She’s been groggy at first and thought it was a dream, but as she beca more alert, she realized it had actually happened.

She was seen by Charles Carrington when she was drunk, then he took her ho.

Normal people would have broken up and never see each other again. But she was different. After breaking up, she saw him more often than she ever did when they were dating.

And every encounter was by chance.

The awkward part was that every ti they t, she would make tough promises, probably saying things like she would avoid him in the future. But God seed to be against her. The less she wanted to see him, the more chances God created for them to et.

Being drunk was okay, but being sober was a disaster, because it was so awkward.

She freshened up, picked up her phone, got off the bed, opened the door, and peeked out.

There was a thin blanket on the couch in the living room, but no one was there. It looked like soone had just got up.

She took a deep breath, planning to leave silently and avoid embarrassnt.

Just then, a gentle male voice ca from the adjacent kitchen.

She tightened up, her hair standing on end.

A mont later, no one ca out of the kitchen, and she relaxed.

She was about to leave when she clearly heard the man’s voice.

"Just wait, I’ll give you sothing to eat when I’m done."

Was he... talking to her?

Probably not, right?

"Fishie, co here."

Layla Lowell was startled. He really was talking to her.

But why did his tone sound so suggestive?

His voice was gentle and soft, as if he were coaxing.

She hesitated, not sure whether to go to him.

The man’s voice ca again, "You’re such a good girl, let hold you."

Her eyes widened, and she looked violently at the wall, as if trying to see through it.

Her face filled with the words "are you insane".

He had never spoken to her in this way before - not even during their relationship, never mind after their breakup.

And he had never used such a gentle tone.

"Are you hungry, eh?"

Layla couldn’t stand it any longer. She strode to the front of the kitchen, angrily demanding, "Hey! What are you playing at?"

They had clearly broken up, why was he provoking her on purpose?

After taking a good look, she suddenly stopped.
