She thought of the others and asked, "Do you know where the other researchers might be? Frankly speaking, we’ve been looking for the other Xs, and now we’re only missing X-6."
Jerry River pulled back from his thoughts of the events 17 years ago and drifted a aningful look towards Alexander Foster’s face.
"I’m not sure. We held a general eting 14 years ago which was discovered halfway and after that we never gathered again. We knew beforehand those people wanted to capture us, use us for their underground research so we had no choice but to hide. Later, so suspected that Joy Taylor and Albert Green were traitors, so they gradually distanced themselves. Little did we know that we were still discovered. That’s when we found out the real traitor was not them but Hailey Spence."
"So, it was Hailey Spence..." Chloe Collins muttered.
"You already knew about this?"
"Yes, Professor Serrano’s daughter ntioned it."
Jerry River nodded, "Knowing about Hailey Spence is useless now. I only found out last year. We are all scattered now, with no contact. If I receive any news, I will let you know."
He continued, "I have always found one thing very strange."
Chloe Collins t his gaze, "Please speak, sir."
Jerry River: "Over the years, it’s not just , even those people seem to be unaware of your situation. I only recently learned that you are a victim of the Second Generation. In theory, if they found you, the only living victim of the Second Generation, they would certainly capture you for research. Even the folks from the Nebula Plan didn’t target you, but instead found Wanda Wesley, Professor Serrano’s adopted daughter. The only possible explanation is that soone erased your information and no one could track you. Soone was protecting you."
Chloe Collins replied, "I have been pursued by people since I was thirteen. My mother and my senior brother were helping . I managed to resolve things when I was sixteen or seventeen."
Jerry River gave a long ’oh’, "I see."
After he finished speaking, he looked at Alexander Foster again.
Alexander Foster asked, "Sir, is there sothing you want to say to ?"
His slight intention being noticed, Jerry River was sowhat embarrassed.
After a while, he asked, "Your eyes, they’ve been injured, haven’t they?"
Hearing this, Chloe Collins’ long-suppressed curiosity suddenly awakened.
Back then, she had always wondered how Alexander Foster’s eyes were injured.
Alexander Foster: "Yes, they were slightly injured."
Jerry River cast down his eyes and faintly smiled, saying, "It was all caused by your aunt. You didn’t know, did you?"

"That’s right, those people ca for your aunt. They wanted her to work for them, yet they didn’t want anyone outside to know about their plan. To them, you were an outsider. Your aunt wanted to protect you, so she didn’t hesitate to hurt your eyes. However, the person who saved and took you away was soone else."
