Chapter 1074
Upstairs, in the bathroom.
Alexander Foster stood close to the mirror, staring at a spot below his lower lip that he thought was blood. But when he wiped it off, he found no wound.
It was a very faint red that was almost invisible unless scrutinized closely.
Upon saring it on his finger, it looked like a woman’s lipstick.
He was gazing at the pale red on his finger, as if he were in a trance.
In his slightly dazed eyes, he seed to relive the dream he just had—
While slightly tipsy, the girl of his dreams bent down and initiated a kiss.
At the ti, he only felt dizzy and unreal. When he woke up after a short nap, Chloe was already sleeping beside him.
So, he labeled it as a dream.
But now, the faint red color almost drove him crazy.
He barely gave a chuckle, like a child who just received a handful of candy.
Fifteen minutes later, a knock was heard on Chloe’s door.
She had just finished taking a bath and went over to open the door.
The fragrance of shower gel hit her. The man standing in front of her, hair disheveled as though he had just taken a bath and dried his hair, looked ruggedly handso with his tufts of ssy hair.
Chloe saw the brilliance in his eyes and the smile on his face, she was stunned, "What’s up?"
"I can’t sleep, can I tell you a story?"
Chloe thought for a mont, nodded, stepped aside to let him in.
Soon, she was lying on the bed, covering her body with a thin blanket, her head on the plush pillow, turning her head to see him.
The man was sitting on the fluffy carpet by the edge of the bed, holding a piece of paper.
He turned on a night lamp, unfolded the paper, and started narrating the story.
The plot was intense and interesting, Chloe was engrossed, with no hint of sleepiness.
Every now and then, she would ask a question, and he would answer patiently.
She turned to look at the side profile of the man, highlighted by a faint warm orange light, making his voice sound even more warm and tender.
Then, she heard—
"Darren Thompson was drugged and fell into a deep sleep. Aaron Stone kept watching him from a distance, sotis adjusting his blanket or checking his forehead for any signs of fever. At one mont, Aaron Stone sneakily kissed Darren Thompson."
Chloe’s eyes narrowed slightly, sensing a hidden ssage in his words.
It was mainly because the narrative took a sudden turn tonight to describe the protagonist’s romantic relationship, which felt sowhat abrupt.
His friend Darren Thompson was still in danger, his fate uncertain.
Aaron Stone, who was originally miles away, suddenly showed up to look after the injured Darren Thompson.
She had originally thought that this particular part of the story would not unfold this way. According to the previous context, even though Darren had been injured, it should not have been this serious, and he should currently be fighting alongside another male character.
In short, this part of the plot was introduced too suddenly.
And, it felt too familiar.
She turned her head to glance at the man, her beautiful eyes filled with inquiry. Just then, his gaze t hers.
She felt like he had set a trap, luring her into it.
Chloe belatedly rembered the incident on the hot air balloon.
This man knew about it.
At this thought, her head stiffly slowly retreated into the blanket.
This sensation that she hadn’t felt in a long ti was as embarrassing as that ti years ago when she was caught red-handed hunting a chicken in the mountains behind the temple.
No, even more so.
"Alexander Foster." She interrupted him.
He turned his head and saw only her eyebrows exposed from the blanket. He smiled, "Hm?"
"I want to sleep now, goodnight."
She was asking him to leave.
He pulled the blanket down a little bit, revealing her eyes: "Don’t cover your face when you sleep, it’s not good for breathing."
