Chapter 1024

The two of them looked at each other in shock, then turned to look at the girl sitting on the couch, drinking from a wine bottle.

Their surprise caused their speech to montarily malfunction, unable to utter a single sound and expressing their astonishnt only through wide-eyed stares.

"I like Alex Foster. It’s not the kind of liking among friends, and it’s not gratitude. It’s a woman’s love for a man—the kind of liking where I want to see him every day and be with him."

Having said this quietly, she took a sip of wine; her calm eyes betrayed a trace of tenderness.

Layla Lowell scratched her head in confusion; Wanda Wesley across from her shared her perplexity.

Like?

Does she like him?

Does she really like him?

How puzzling!

But upon further contemplation, the indications of her affection were traceable—

Chloe Collins would eat only the snacks Alex Foster bought for her, and she would share these with others. Any gifts from other n were returned unopened.

Alex Foster was the only one who could stick by her side constantly without being shrugged off or rejected.

Alex Foster was the only one allowed to tousle her hair.

The nine boxes of aged vinegar Alex Foster gifted her still remained in her house.

All of these accepted gestures were indeed expressions of her feelings.

It was they who failed to notice them.

"Then why don’t you accept him?" Layla Lowell finally managed to voice her question.

Chloe Collins looked down at them, sitting cross-legged on the floor like children listening to a story, and chuckled lightly. "I’m waiting."

"Waiting?"

"Hmm, waiting."

"Waiting for what?"

"Waiting for him to be willing."

"Huh?"

Wasn’t Alex Foster the one waiting for you to be willing?

Both Layla Lowell and Wanda Wesley were left with question marks hovering over their heads.

"Willing to do what?" Both of them looked at her curiously.

This ti, Chloe Collins didn’t answer.

Layla Lowell reflected for a mont, "True, n should be tested. Who knows whether he’s just all talk? Ti is the best witness."

Wanda Wesley: "Is that it? I feel like, Chlo-Chlo doesn’t seem to be doing it for that reason..."

Layla Lowell looked at Chloe Collins.

She imdiately negated her speculation.

People like Chloe Collins usually have unwavering trust in their judgnt. They wouldn’t bother with any kind of test.

So, she must have her plans.

Chloe Collins passed a bottle of wine to each of them: "Drink."

"Fine! Let’s forget about this and forget about n!" Layla Lowell declared boldly. The three of them clinked their bottles together and continued drinking.

Outside the door.

Milton White slowly closed his eyes and turned away to leave at the very mont he lifted his gaze.

He called Tristan Collins: "Don’t tell her I was back. Pretend I never returned tonight."

After Robert Foster returned ho, he dumped his stuff and rushed off to the Wesley’s to find Wanda Wesley.

When Wanda Wesley left earlier, she told him she was going ho.

However, he had been standing at the doorway for a long ti, ringing the doorbell for a while, but nobody ca to open the door.

A car drove up.

He turned around in surprise and his face fell when he saw who it was.

It was Edward Turner, who had just co from a TV show, his face still wearing light makeup.

Seeing him, Edward Turner was quite surprised as well.

"What are you doing here alone?"

"Where’s Wandy?"

Robert Foster didn’t know what to say. All he knew was that Wanda Wesley was acting strange today.

"I ca to find her."

"Isn’t she at ho?" Edward Turner asked, then pulled out his phone to dial Wanda Wesley’s number.

After a while, he put down his phone.

"She’s not picking up."

Robert Foster’s eyebrows knitted in worry: "Did sothing happen to her? She’s been in a bad mood."

Edward Turner’s brows furrowed instantly: "And you don’t know why?"

"Should I know?" Robert Foster was puzzled.
