Chapter 70: Chapter 70: How Strong Is She, Really?

Chapter 70

Layla Lowell took a mont to catch her breath, before saying, "Once my injuries heal, I’ll report to your lab. However, the Lowells must reclaim everything as soon as possible. I’m worried that those bastards might secretly transfer the Lowells’ assets."

Heijii comnted, "Rest assured. Ever since you signed the contract, our boss ordered us to start working on this issue. You just focus on recovery and don’t worry about a thing."

Layla hadn’t expected things to move this fast and was montarily surprised.

After a pause, she said, "Thank you, guys."

Heijii went still, seemingly unaccustod to this sort of thanks.

He laughed a couple tis, "Never expected a girl like you to say thank you."

Layla shot him a glace, "Just being polite."

Then her gaze shifted back to Chloe Collins, "Where did you move the lab stuff to?"

"A safe place," Chloe didn’t elaborate.

Layla continued, "That’s over a decade’s worth of research by my teacher. He dedicated his life to an experint leaning towards unlocking the potential of the human brain. He’s achieved significant success. I think, if he were still alive, he’d be more than willing to cooperate with you."

Chloe looked at her, "So, you an to say, you want

to assign people to you, so you can continue this research?"

Layla stated, "Even if you don’t help , I will find a way to continue."

Chloe responded, "No need for all the trouble. I’ve read Professor Howard’s research report. It has so common ground with my current project. Once you join, you’ll be responsible for the specialized research in this field within the group. Don’t worry about funding, I’ll provide as long as it’s beneficial to the research."

Chloe’s voice was light and soft, exuding a calmness unbefitting her age, which surprised Layla.

Layla thought to herself that Chloe must be no ordinary person because no ordinary man would willingly address such a young girl as "boss".

Just how influential was she, to be able to nonchalantly promise to fulfill any need?

After sitting for a while, Chloe and her companion left. Shortly after, a nurse ca in to change Layla’s dressing.

After her wounds were dressed, it was ti for lunch.

Outside the room, a group of girls dressed like high school students giggled as they arrived.

The nurse, alard, hurried out after finishing her work.

"Layla, are you okay? Damn, that’s a lot of bandages, your wounds must be serious. Who dared to touch you!" a girl with purple hair exclaid angrily.

A girl with a belly shirt replaced her uniform’s jacket, gritted her teeth and said, "Find out who it was and kill her!"

The others nodded in agreent.

Layla was eating her porridge, and raised her eyes at their words, "Don’t ruin my appetite."

"Without you at school, Layla, no one’s taking care of things. The folks at the school next door think we’re leaderless and ca to provoke us last night. I’m so pissed."

"Oh, and by the way, Layla, we bumped into Chloe Collins on the way up here. What a coincidence, she ca to see you?"

"Chloe Collins? I didn’t see her. Damn, did she do it? Last ti she tried to embarrass our Layla in public at school."

"Damn, let’s take her down!" The others were not calm anymore.

Layla put down her spoon, her eyes fierce, "Listen to . From now on, when you see Chloe Collins, treat her the sa way you would treat ."
