Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Fans et Their Idol

Chapter 281

She looked at him, feeling that there was sothing in his eyes she couldn’t decipher.

For a brief five seconds, the only sound in the room was him grinding the incense materials.

"She didn’t teach . I don’t know how to blend scents either," he said.

His words didn’t sound particularly false, but Chloe knew that he didn’t want to talk about Emma Foster.

Indeed... He was not on the sa level as Robert Foster and was harder to deceive.

That day, she had managed to get Robert to tell her everything he knew during a single al, but him...

She averted her eyes and made other plans in her heart.

-

That night.

Monks lived simple lives, so birthdays were not celebrated with feasts as ordinary people did. Master Matsu was content after eting the people he wanted to see and saying what he wanted to say.

Nevertheless, Chloe still prepared a vegetarian banquet to the best of her ability, substituting tea for wine, temporarily setting aside the rules and simply enjoying herself.

During the al, she received a phone call about Layla Lowell’s case.

Since Charles Carrington refused to help, she had no choice but to ask Heijii to find soone else.

After listening to Heijii’s report, she said, "If they don’t accept this price, there’s no need to continue the negotiation. Find soone else."

Alex handed her so freshly roasted tofu skewers and asked, "What’s the matter?"

She casually replied, "The lawyer I contacted for Layla is quoting an exorbitant fee, five tis our initial offer."

Alex pondered for a mont and asked, "Are you handling the Lowell’s affairs?"

Upon hearing his question, Chloe realized that she might have said too much, but there was not much to hide, so she nodded, "Yes, I’m helping her sort out this issue."

"So that’s why you agreed to race Charles?"

She looked at the mostly hidden moon in the night sky and slowly said, "More or less. But even without this matter, I would eventually race him. He’s been too annoying."

He would bring up a challenge every once in a while.

He must be unwilling to accept his previous loss.

Alex pondered for a while before suddenly taking out his phone and sending a ssage to Charles Carrington, asking to et him the next day.

-

At the sa ti, Mia Nolan hurried to a high-end restaurant. After searching for a while, her face lit up with an excited smile.

She tidied up her clothes and walked towards the person with short, quick steps.

That person didn’t look at her, seemingly unaware that she had arrived. With half-closed eyelids, they were looking at their phone, exuding an air of nobility.

Mia approached, her body involuntarily bending slightly, her face adorned with a smile, and greeted them gently, "Hello, Senior Sophia."

Sophia Spence had also attended the Affiliated High School previously, so Mia had always addressed her this way.

Sophia slowly looked up, with no hint of surprise in her eyes. The corners of her mouth rose into a rare, faint smile.

"Sit down."

Mia nodded, sitting down carefully and with restraint.

She was extrely nervous in front of her idol.

Having previously contacted her as the president of her fan club, she had gotten Sophia’s ssaging app contact, yet her ssages had mostly gone unanswered. To be suddenly invited out today was a huge surprise to Mia.

"I wonder if Senior wants to discuss sothing with ?"

She thought that perhaps it was about the fan eting she had ntioned to Sophia several tis before, guessing that the repeated suggestions must have finally enticed her to agree to et.

Sophia said, "No rush, let’s order first."

Mia bowed her head and handed the nu to Sophia. "Whatever Senior decides is fine."

Sophia didn’t say anything else, casually ordering two signature dishes and two salads from the restaurant before closing the nu.

"You went to junior high school in Harville, right?"

Mia was surprised. "Yes... How did Senior know?"
