Chapter 240: Chapter 240: She Closed Her Eyes
Chapter 240
Chloe’s gaze followed the direction she had seen and fell on the rooftop of a villa, surrounded by lush trees, slightly elevated compared to the one she was standing in.
She had passed by a few tis and could vaguely recall what it looked like.
"Is that your house?"
As she asked this question, she was almost certain in her heart.
Alexander Foster slowly brought a smile to his lips: "I bought it not too long ago. Want to co and sit for a while?"
Having said that, he walked over to her.
Chloe was standing under the eave, the floor where she was standing was about a dozen centiters higher than the courtyard grass, allowing her to face Alexander Foster at almost an equal level.
She leaned lazily against the nearby pillar, her head naturally half-lowered than his, her voice slightly chilly: "Don’t feel like moving."
The implication was a refusal.
Alexander Foster didn’t seem to understand that and instead smiled lightly, "Then let
carry you there, is that okay?"
"Or how about piggyback?"
Chloe’s eyes changed, "Keep your hands off
and quit it, I’m not interested in you."
Upon uttering that sentence, the man suddenly drew closer, his jet-black eyes staring intently at her, "So sure?"
Chloe stared back at him calmly, "Of course."
He slowly nodded, glanced to the side, and suddenly, his handso face pressed close without warning, the tip of his nose almost touching Chloe’s!
Their breaths intertwined, warm air puffing on their lips.
Chloe slowly opened her eyes, eting his unfathomable gaze.
In that instant, she realized belatedly that she had been set up.
The laughter in his eyes confird her suspicion.
"Not interested, yet you don’t dodge and instead close your eyes?" His voice was slow and hoarse.
Chloe’s breathing hitched for a mont, and she stared at him before taking a step back and turning to go inside, closing the door behind her.
Alexander Foster gazed at the tightly closed door, the joy on his handso face fading away, suddenly realizing he might have said sothing wrong—
Too blunt, without considering the young lady’s pride.
He stepped forward to knock on the door.
"Chlo-Chlo."
No one answered.
Chloe had already gone upstairs and collapsed onto the large bed, staring at the ceiling’s wall light in a daze.
She stretched out her hand and pulled out a cute porcelain doll next to her pillow, her fingers poking its nose, still dazed.
Her gaze was sowhat empty, unfocused on the porcelain doll.
Like magic, the scene from earlier gradually erged in midair—Alexander Foster’s face, close to hers, his eyes seemingly possessing so mysterious power, drawing her in.
A long ti ago, soone had played a similar prank on her, and the result was their instinctive reaction which made her kick them a few ters away.
This ti...how co her body was so calm?
She caressed the porcelain doll, her thumb unconsciously fiddling with its eyeball.
It wasn’t long before she unknowingly fell asleep.
Downstairs, Alexander Foster didn’t leave.
He was instructing Brent Frost and Rupert Frost to tidy up the courtyard flowers and plants, with so weeds needing to be pulled out and so branches needing to be pruned.
The two children loved the gifts he had bought for them and willingly obeyed his commands.
"Milty..."
Alexander Foster put a finger to his lips and whispered to them, "Keep it down, we don’t want to wake Miss Chloe."
Rupert Frost looked at the tightly closed door and whispered, "Milty, how do you know Miss Chloe is asleep? You can’t see her."
Alexander Foster’s eyes held a glint of amusent, "You’ll understand when you grow up."
Rupert Frost’s face was puzzled.
Alexander Foster waved his hand for the two children to resu their activities.
There were a few white lounge chairs in the courtyard, which he picked up one by one with his hands and placed on both sides of the porch to avoid the sunlight.
The porch’s surroundings also had so clutter, which he organized one by one.
Suddenly, sothing caught his attention.
