Chapter 206: Missing You
She reached out instinctively for her phone and answered the call.
"Who is this?"
"It’s ."
Chloe Collins was taken aback, straightened up and looked at her phone. Sure enough, it was Alexander Foster calling.
She held the phone back to her ear, not saying anything.
A soft laugh could be heard from the other end, "Why aren’t you speaking?"
"You were the one who called ." Chloe responded in a calm tone.
"How’s your exam revision going?"
"Not bad."
He asked, "Are you able to understand the material?"
"You called
just to ask that?"
Alexander Foster didn’t respond imdiately, only the sound of a shallow breath could be heard. It was unexplainably seductive.
Chloe Collins casted her eyes downwards. After waiting for a few more seconds, she said, "If you have nothing else to say, I’m going to hang up."
"Are you free right now?" He asked.
Chloe Collins switched the hand she held her phone with, gently stirred her noodles with the other, and casually responded, "I might be."
There was a few seconds of silence from the other end of the phone before he abruptly asked, "Are you eating instant noodles?"
She was quite surprised; how did he guess that?
"Yes, instant noodles."
"I rember your fridge being well-stocked." His voice filled with a hint of frustration.
"It’s okay, I think instant noodles taste good."
"Is it because you’re too lazy?"
Chloe Collins choked a little.
"What’s going on, really?" She preferred to get straight to the point.
Again, there was silence at the other end, but there were so rustling sounds.
Chloe Collins began to feel curious; what is he doing?
"Do you like music?" He asked out of the blue, as the rustling sound continued.
Chloe Collins’s curiosity grew, she replied, "There’s nobody in this world who doesn’t love music."
"Okay then, give
five minutes." He seed to smile.
As Chloe guessed what he was up to, she confird her suspicion during the ensuing silence.
The gentle, simple sound of a guitar travelled through the phone from thousands of miles away. The slightly raspy tunes, coupled with the serene and beautiful night, were perfectly matched.
She held her phone, silently listening, and felt sothing strange washing over her.
It was a soft feeling, like she was falling into a sea of flowers while looking at the starry sky.
Only after the last note fell, she slowly returned to reality.
A gentle male voice asked, "Did you like it?"
She paused for two seconds, then asked, "What song is it?"
The lody felt extrely familiar
"The singer’s na is Ray." He said.
Chloe Collins still couldn’t recall it.
At that mont, a very vague voice ca from his end.
"Mr. Foster, it’s ti to go."
The man’s breath switched to a soft whisper, "Rest early, I have to get going."
"Goodnight
