Arissa’s heavy eyelids propped open. Her hands moved down to her waist but not even a finger was there. She blinked in disbelief before searching her mory.

Though she was drunk, she was sure she felt him last night. He had brought her to the bed and wrapped his arms around her waist. She knew what she had felt.

If he had not wrapped her that way, she would have slept on the sofa which ans he did cradle her in his arms.

With heavy eyes, she turned to the other side of the bed. Disappointnt greeted her when she saw the other part of the bed empty - even cold.

She faced her previous position before rubbing her forehead. Hangover visited her again and she felt drained. She sat up on the bed and glanced around the room.

A forsaken sigh left her lips when there was no trace of him in the room. She dropped dejectedly on the bed.

She knew she shouldn’t be feeling this way but who was she to forsake her feelings? She was a mare mortal with needs, a mortal with wants, and a large part of her needs him to be complete.

She let out a tired yawn before snuggling into the pillow to continue sleeping. Though it would be hard because her head still hurt like hell and thinking about Nicklaus would also do her no assistance so she better sleep.

Bearly shutting her eyes, she parted them again when a knock ca through the door. She ca down from the bed and walked towards the door.

Before her hand would get to the doorknob, the door was pulled open. A lady in chef attire smiled at her.

With a nice smile on her lips. "Good Morning," the lady greeted cheerfully.

"Morning?" Arissa kept her voice straight and neutral. This lady wasn’t who she wants to see right now. She doesn’t even know the lady and wait, how did the lady have access to open Nicklaus’s bedroom door?

Arissa’s eyes went down to the lady’s hand.

Seeing the tray in the lady’s hand, Arissa thought straight. The lady might just be a chef and nothing more.

"The CEO asked to make you breakfast."

Arissa let out a low breath. At least, the title was formal. "Where is he?"

"In a eting with so business partners," the Chef replied.

Arissa nodded, "Thank you," her voice beca pleasant, and with a small smile, she received the tray and shut the door.

The fact he rembered to send her breakfast ward the whole of her inside. A smile returned to her lips as she began to prepare herself to leave for the hospital.

Almost an hour later, Arissa was done with her morning ritual and breakfast. Putting on her previous clothes, she made use of Nicklaus’s toiletries.

A satisfied smile hugged her lips when she realized just like the whole room, she now slled like him.

Walking out of the living room, she et him already seated on his desk. Imdiately, her feet glued to the floor as she admired his working posture.

Nicklaus turned to her with a soft smile which she returned with thin lips. He closed the files he was reading and walked toward her. Getting to her, he tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear before planting a kiss of gratitude on her nose.

"Good morning," he muttered in the kiss.

Arissa shut her eyes to relish herself in the sensation of the morning kiss. When his lips left her nose, she looked up at him.

They stared into each other eyes. Nicklaus’s eyes were filled with various emotions while Arissa’s eyes were blank.

Wrapping his arms around her waist, "How was your night?" he asked her.

Arissa shivered at their proximity, "It was fine," she managed to say. Having him this close was a risk to her heart.

A risk she can’t survive if she jumps in.

With furrowed brows, Nicklaus watched her, taking note of all the negative emotions flowing out of her. He also notice with confidence she wasn’t comfortable with his grip on her waist.

"Okay," he rasped before taking his arms off her waist.

’Could it be she rembered my last words last night?’ he wondered as he stared at her. Although she wasn’t back to her cold and detached mode, he felt her walls rebuilding again.

With a formal smile, she announced. "I have to be going,"

Nicklaus frowned at her tune. He was stunned she was going back this way after everything that happened last night.

He stepped forward to hold her again but she took a step back. His inside beca both confused and furious.

"Arissa!!" he half hollered at her. She was making him confused, which played with his emotions.

Arissa gulped at the sound of his voice pronouncing her na. Rather than coming to order, she reached for his arm and rubbed on him, "Thank you for the al, it helped a lot for my hangover,"

Nicklaus’s confused eyes went to her hand on his arm and back to her face. She was getting him all confused.

She acted like one who wants to keep her distance and spoil everything they have gone through hell to create and in the next second, she act like she was okay with their new bond.

Her actions were hurting and he doubt she doesn’t know that.

"Was there sothing I did wrong?" he decided to ask. Who knows, there might be sothing he unknowingly did that might have offended her.

"No," Arissa walked away from him, "We’d talk at ho for now_"

She was cut off and halted from walking when she was strongly spun over. Softly, her face ca in contact with his hard muscles.

His scent that drives her craze wafted her nostrils which made her more dizzy than the sudden spinning did.

Giving attention to her body’s reactions, she picked up her heartbeat. It began to beat ten tis faster than the normal healthy rate.

At this point, Arissa realized he wasn’t good for her. Slamming his chest with both palms, she tried to push him away.

Curiously, Nicklaus asked, "Are you still drunk?" as he let her hit him.

Arissa stooped abruptly, "Nicklaus, let go," she snapped suddenly.

She never an to snap but the feeling was beginning to cover her. She weirdly felt safe with his arm on just her waist.

No, she yelled in her mind, ’Don’t, don’t continue feeling this way,’ she told her heart.

"Nick_ mgh," she was cut off when Nicklaus seized all of her words into his mouth.

Arissa’s eyes widened.

She tried not to kiss him, but her body worked in line with her heart and not her mind. In the next second, she felt her hands digging themselves into his hair while her lips kissed him hungrily.
