As the saying goes, where there is oppression, there is resistance.
And where there is resistance, there is oppression.
Kiana Sutton didn’t manage to get rid of Winter Sheridan, so she beca a thorn in Winter’s side.
Winter would occasionally band together with others to make trouble for her.
Setting her up at work.
Isolating her in private.
Sotis it got so nasty, they even put cockroaches in Kiana’s mug.
Their thods were downright disgusting.
Harold Young was still a little intimidated, knowing Kiana ca down from the executive office, so to calm things down, he organized a departntal dinner.
Amy Manning was worried about Kiana. "Kiana, are you going?"
Kiana gave a slight smile. "Of course I am. Why wouldn’t I?"
Kiana might cower in front of Ethan Sinclair, but if anyone else tried to ss with her, she’d never just swallow it.
During this ti, Kiana finally confird sothing—turns out Winter Sheridan really was Harold Young’s mistress. No wonder she strutted around the planning departnt like she owned the place, and nobody dared say a word.
Venus Hotel.
The planning departnt gathered at a big table, and Harold Young raised his glass, smiling at everyone.
"Everyone, we’ve got two new employees joining the planning departnt recently. Let’s give a warm welco to Kiana Sutton and Miss Stella."
Stella never hid the fact she was the Lynch Family’s heiress. Since everyone knew she was just interning at Evercrest Group, they all treated her with serious respect.
After a round or two of drinks, people started toasting each other.
Everyone in the departnt knew about Winter Sheridan and Harold Young, so they all went over to toast Winter, trying to curry favor with her.
Kiana watched coldly, not making a single move.
Stella ca over with her glass and stood next to Kiana. "Kiana Sutton, how’s it feel to be isolated, rejected, and bullied?"
Kiana shot Stella a cool glance.
Stella let out a cold laugh. "Still don’t get it? Winter is Harold Young’s mistress. Going against her is like smashing an egg against a rock."
Kiana let out a little laugh.
Seeing her smiling face only made Stella angrier.
Damned woman. After all she’s been through, she can still find it in her to smile?
Before long, Winter Sheridan stumbled into the bathroom, and Harold Young got a napkin.
When he opened it up, he saw a ssage scrawled in lipstick: "You old dog, I’m waiting for you in the bathroom."
Harold had already knocked back a fair amount, so seeing those words made him hot-blooded. He headed right for the bathroom.
Not long after he left, a woman in her forties stord in, face full of rage. "Where’s Harold Young?"
"Seems like he went to the bathroom. Who are you?"
The woman said nothing, charging straight for the restroom.
"Isn’t that the manager’s wife? Sothing crazy’s about to go down, huh?"
Everyone imdiately followed to watch.
Harold and Winter were making out fiercely outside the bathroom when the woman arrived. Her fury exploded, "Harold Young, you damned old bastard! Cheating on and keeping a mistress behind my back!"
Harold’s wife wasn’t to be ssed with—she grabbed Winter’s hair and slapped her, twice, hard.
The slaps sobered Winter up halfway, her head buzzing in shock.
"Co on, everyone—take a look at this howrecker, seducing soone else’s husband!"
Winter was wearing an off-shoulder dress, and the angry wife yanked it so hard it ripped to shreds, leaving her fully exposed to everyone.
A few people tried to break it up; others whipped out their phones to capture photos and video.
Kiana kept watching, cold as ever, not a muscle moving on her face.
Stella saw this and stepped up to Kiana. "Was it you?"
Kiana looked at Stella and innocently shrugged.
anwhile, in another private room at the hotel, Ethan Sinclair, Julian Garrison, and Simon Ives were finally all together.
"Hey, I heard from Archie Warren that your mute little bride is a real beauty, like a sweet little cupcake—when are you going to bring her out so we can have a look?"
"Archie Warren?"
"Oh, that’s Nancy—my stylist."
Ethan absentmindedly stroked Blackie’s white fur with his gloved hand. Blackie let out a couple of comfy "ows", but Ethan just snorted, "A sweet little cupcake? Sweet? I don’t see it."
"How do you know if she’s sweet if you haven’t tasted her?"
Ethan: "..."
As Ethan’s hand reached Blackie’s neck, he noticed the bell on its collar—it jingled softly with the slightest movent.
Ethan recalled how Kiana always moved so silently, and his dark eyes flickered as he looked at Simon sitting in the wheelchair. "Simon, where’d you get that bell?"
Simon: "You don’t even have a pet at ho. Why do you want a bell?"
Ethan didn’t answer, just raised an eyebrow a little.
Julian Garrison laughed: "Do you even have to ask? Obviously, he’s getting it for his mute little bride."
Suddenly, there was chaos outside. When Blackie heard the commotion, it let out a "ow", jumped off Ethan’s lap, and bolted out the door.
"Hey, Blackie, don’t run off..."
The crowd outside kept growing. Kiana didn’t want to watch anymore, and just as she was turning to leave, sothing furry suddenly leapt into her arms.
"ow~"
The soft touch in her hand, the owing, and seeing it was a cat triggered a bloody, nightmarish mory in Kiana’s mind.
A boy holding a knife sliced open a cat’s stomach, then turned and bead at her. "Kiana, look! Its blood is so red! I’ll save it for you to use as paint, okay?"
Ah...
Kiana’s face went bone white in an instant. Terrified, she hurled the cat away from her.
"ow ow~"
The cat hit the floor and cried out twice.
Julian rushed out just in ti to see Blackie sprawled on the floor after being thrown.
"Blackie!"
He hurried to scoop up Blackie and checked it over. Seeing it was fine, his face turned cold as he looked at Kiana.
But before he could speak, he saw Kiana’s terror-filled face. She looked like she’d just witnessed a horror show—trembling, pale as a ghost, every bit of color drained away.
Julian’s words caught in his throat.
What the hell did Blackie do to scare a girl this badly?
Just then, Ethan and Simon also ca out.
The crowd fell silent when they saw Ethan Sinclair.
"President Sinclair..."
It was only now Ethan saw who caused all the havoc—it was Evercrest Group’s planning departnt.
Ethan’s face was pure thunder. With him here, even Harold Young’s wife didn’t dare cause any more trouble; the whole farce finally drew to an end.
The crowd slowly dispersed. Kiana wanted to leave too, but her legs felt like jelly.
Stella never expected Ethan, Julian, and Simon would all be here. Gloating, she went up to Kiana. "Kiana Sutton, you actually dared to throw Simon’s cat? You’re so dead!"
The world around Kiana felt chaotic and empty. She couldn’t hear anything—her vision and mind were all stained blood-red.
Julian noticed sothing was seriously wrong. Realizing she must actually be terrified of cats, he was about to speak when Kiana’s vision went black, and she collapsed on the spot.
Quick as lightning, Julian darted forward and caught her...
