The music room was filled with laughter as Aaron enjoyed his guitar lesson with Dominique. The two of them were getting along so well that Athena found it hard to watch.
Deep in her heart, she harbored resentnt toward Dominique for not acknowledging Aaron as his son. He had even ordered her to abort their child.
Fearing her negative emotions would resurface in front of Dominique and Aaron, she excused herself and headed to the balcony to breathe so fresh air and gather herself. But little did she know, Dominique followed her as he let Aaron play the guitar by himself.
"Athena," Dominique’s voice was heard from behind.
Her eyes widened in surprise when Dominique suddenly showed up. She wanted to be alone but he followed her.
"Why are you here? Where’s Aaron?"
"He is still practicing in the music room," He replied, stepping forward as he stood next to her.
"I want to talk to you about Aaron," Dominique added, casting a look at the garden.
Athena’s body beca tense at the ntion of Aaron’s na. ’He wants to talk about Aaron. Why? Did he notice their resemblance? Did he discover sothing?’
"What is it?" Athena tried to compose herself, not showing other emotions.
"About his father. Are you still searching for his missing father?"
Athena was taken aback for a mont. She didn’t expect that Dominique had already heard from Aaron that they were searching for his father.
"You don’t have to concern yourself about this matter, Mr. Smith. Ivankov Family doesn’t discuss our family problems with outsiders," Athena coldly said.
Dominique stayed silent upon hearing that. But he turned to Athena’s face, assessing her expression. As compared to earlier, she finally cald down. Her expression was now neutral. However, he could sense that she wanted to avoid discussing this topic.
The two of them didn’t speak for a minute. They just stood side by side, scanning the scenery. It did not take long before the silence was broken by the ringing sound of Dominique’s phone. Soone was calling him– Sasha.
"Hello, Sasha?"
Dominique answered the phone in front of Athena. She just stayed quiet as she listened to their conversation.
"Hello, Babe! Where are you? It’s already late at night. When are you coming back ho?" Sasha asked him worriedly.
"I contacted your secretary. She said you left the company earlier. Where did you go? Is there sothing wrong?" Sasha bombarded him with a series of questions.
Dominique fixed his eyes on Athena while replying to Sasha. "I have an important matter to attend to. I can’t go ho tonight. Don’t wait for . I’ll see you tomorrow."
There was a mont of silence from the other line. "O-Okay. What ti are you going ho tomorrow?" Sasha sounded so sad.
"I’m not sure. I’ll just ssage you." Dominique didn’t want to prolong their conversation. "I have to go."
Without waiting for Sasha’s reply, Dominique ended the phone call.
"Aren’t you afraid that she might suspect you of cheating on her? It looks like you are used to making an alibi. Business matter to attend to? Do you often use this as an alibi, Mr. Smith?" Athena sneered at him.
Dominique looked at her eyes with a serious expression on his face. "No. This is the first ti I do this. I didn’t even use this alibi on my first wife. I always went ho to her, sleeping in our bed... in this very own house." Dominique stared at her aningfully.
Athena’s smile disappeared when she heard that. To think about it, she had never suspected Dominique of cheating on her because he never ca ho late. He was always sleeping with her.
"Oh, is that so, Mr. Smith? Then... do you often make out in your office?" She raised her eyebrow while giving him a sarcastic smile.
Dominique could sense the bitterness in her tone. His eyes softened as he grabbed her by her waist. And without further ado, Dominique claid her lips, kissing her passionately.
But Athena struggled against his arms, pushing him away and breaking the kiss. "What the hell are you doing?! Aaron is here with us. He might see us!" she complained, punching him in his chest.
"I’m sorry. I can’t help it. I can’t get enough of you." Dominique admitted. He just wanted to kiss away her negative emotions earlier so he kissed her without thinking twice.
’Are you really my Sabrina? My heart and my body are telling you are Sabrina, my wife. I only feel this strong desire for soone. It’s Sabrina. Is this the reason why I’m also addicted to her? Because Athena and Sabrina might be one person.’
"Why are you looking at like that?" Athena stepped back, feeling uncomfortable with Dominique’s penetrating gaze.
Dominique stopped Athena by grabbing her wrist. "Are you afraid of , Athena? Why are you distancing yourself from ?"
"I’m just keeping my distance because Aaron is here. I don’t want him to know our secret."
Dominique let go of her hand when he heard her reason. He didn’t want Athena to feel uneasy in his presence.
"I have one request, Athena. Can you sleep here tonight? Together with Aaron?" Dominique pleaded.
Athena frowned. "No. I can’t. Aaron’s grandfather is strict. He won’t allow his grandson to stay with a stranger."
"But I want to spend more ti with him. I feel like he is my son," Dominique declared, making Athena speechless.
"I think a few hours are not enough. I want to be with Aaron." Dominique insisted.
"But why? Aaron is not your son. Are you longing to have a son because your wife can’t give you one?"
Dominique was about to reply when a tiny voice was heard from behind.
"I want to sleep here, Aunt Athena. I can ask my grandfather’s permission," Aaron spoke up.
Dominique and Athena were surprised by Aaron’s sudden arrival. It looked like he heard so of their conversations.
"But I don’t think your grandfather will allow you. You know him well."
Athena was against this. She didn’t want Aaron to get closer to Dominique. If he learned the truth, Aaron would be heartbroken. His father tried to kill him before.
"There is no harm in trying. Aaron, give your grandpa’s number. I will call him."
Dominique was determined to make Aaron and Athena stay with him tonight. He knew that if Aaron would sleep in the mansion, Athena would never leave them alone. She would choose to stay.
Soon, Dominique dialed Miguel’s number. It rang a few tis before it was answered. Dominique put the phone on the loudspeaker mode so that Athena could also hear Miguel’s voice.
"Hello?" Miguel’s deep voice resounded from the other line.
"Mr. Ivankov, this is Dominique Smith, your grandson’s friend. I called you because I wanted to ask your permission. Your grandson wants to sleep over in my place tonight. Will you allow him to stay?" Dominique politely requested.
Miguel let out a soft chuckle before answering him. "Sure. As I said earlier, I’m entrusting my grandson to you, Mr. Smith. Please take good care of him."
Athena: "..."
Athena’s jaw dropped when she heard Miguels’ approval. ’What the hell is happening? Miguel Ivankov agreed just like that?! This is so unbelievable! Why? Am I hearing this right? He trusts Dominique Smith, a total stranger?!’
