Chapter 78- Pushing The Wrong Button

Logan's POV

Deep down, I just wanted to walk out of this damn class. I wasn't in the mood to learn anymore. My head was boiling, my chest heavy — everything inside scread to get out of here. But sohow, I was still sitting, gripping the edge of my desk so hard that my knuckles turned white.

I kept touching my fingers, trying to calm myself down, trying to stop the storm rising inside .

The physics teacher, Mr Collins, kept blabbing on about Newton's Third Law of Motion or whatever the hell he was teaching. Sothing about action and reaction being equal and opposite — funny how that law could perfectly describe how I was feeling right now. Tyler's action was ssing with my head, and the reaction? Well... let's just say the whole class was lucky I hadn't snapped yet.

I tried to listen — really, I did. I forced myself to follow his voice, scribbling nonsense on my notebook just to act like I was paying attention. But the more I tried, the more my mind drifted off...

I don't even know when I zoned out completely. The whole class blurred into the background — voices fading, the walls closing in. Physics was never my thing, anyway. If there was any subject I hated with passion, it was physics.

The only thing that brought back to reality was when I suddenly heard my na.

"Logan?"

I blinked, coming back from wherever my mind had wandered off to.

Shit.

I looked up to see Mr Collins staring straight at , hands behind his back like he was trying to act all professional.

"Are you listening?" He asked, raising a brow.

"Yes," I replied quickly, trying to sound normal.

But this man... this man wouldn't just mind his damn business.

He folded his arms, his lips curling into this stupid fake concerned smile.

"I don't know what's wrong with you today, Logan... This isn't the Logan I know."

I felt my fingers clench tighter around my pen.

"Earlier today, you were so full of vibes when I saw you outside... but now, everything just dropped. Is sothing wrong? Are you... depressed?"

Depressed??

I fought the urge to roll my eyes. This man really wanted to turn my life into a whole TV drama episode in front of the entire class. And the worst part? I knew he didn't actually care. He was only asking so he could have juicy gossip to carry to the whole staff room later.

Who the hell asks soone if they're depressed in front of every damn student?

If I was really depressed, would this be how to help ?

I didn't answer him. I just stared at him, hoping he would get the hint and move on. But Mr Collins wasn't soone that knew when to stop.

"If you need soone to talk to, Logan... I am always here."

I kept quiet, trying to swallow down the insults forming on my tongue.

This man needed to mind his damn business and just teach the stupid physics he was paid to teach.

But he just kept pushing.

"Blink twice if you need help, and I promise to help you."

The whole class chuckled under their breath.

I clenched my jaw tighter.

"I'm okay, Mr Collins. Can we move on with whatever you are teaching?" I said through gritted teeth, trying to sound calm.

But this man didn't want calm.

He wanted to snap — to entertain the whole class.

"Oh, Logan... Don't worry. I'm always here for you. If you need soone to talk to, co to . I'll do what I do best — welco students without happy hos and help them stop getting sad about their parents' broken hos... because they're not the cause."

Boom.

That was it.

He had triggered .

My head snapped up instantly, my eyes burning as they locked on him.

Oh... so that's what this was about?

My parents?

He really wanted to go there?

I could feel everyone in the class holding their breath, waiting for my reply.

I leaned back in my chair, folding my arms across my chest as a smirk played at the corner of my lips.

"Are you here to teach, Mr Collins... or are you here to be a shoulder for students to rest on?"

His smile froze.

"Because if you're refusing to do your job and instead turning into an underpaid therapist that didn't complete his course, then maybe the school should sack you so you can finally have enough ti to chase your true calling."

The whole class went dead silent.

Even Tyler turned his head slowly, eyes wide in shock.

"What's wrong, Mr Collins?" I leaned forward on my desk, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "Cat got your tongue? Or did I just touch a nerve?"

He opened his mouth, but no word ca out.

I tilted my head, giving him the sa fake pity smile he had been throwing at all day.

"You better continue whatever boring shit you were teaching earlier... unless you're ready to kiss your beloved job goodbye."

That one hit him like a slap.

He blinked rapidly, adjusting his tie and clearing his throat as he quickly turned back to the board, pretending like the whole thing never happened.

I could feel everyone staring at — shocked, scared... but not a single soul dared to say a word.

They all knew one thing about — I don't take nonsense.

One wrong word from any of them could get them expelled from this school and make sure they never step foot in any school again.

Mr Collins began stamring as he continued teaching. It was like I had wiped his whole brain clean. He couldn't even form proper sentences anymore.

I just leaned back in my chair, trying to calm the fire burning inside .

But even as I zoned out again, I could still hear his shaky voice in the background.

After what felt like eternity, I finally snapped back to reality — only to realize this man was still stuck on the sa damn topic he had been teaching for the past two classes.

Typical Mr Collins.

Dragging one useless topic like it was the secret to eternal life.

I rubbed my eyes, forcing myself to stay awake. Since I wasn't leaving anyti soon, I might as well jot down so notes — not because I cared, but just to keep my hands busy.

I had barely written three lines when Mr Collins suddenly smiled.

"Alright, class... I'm sure you're all happy to hear this — you'll be having your two weeks midterm break starting next Monday."

The whole class erupted into cheers — everyone clapping and shouting like they had just won the lottery.

I just sat back, watching them like fools.

He raised his hand to calm the noise down, his smile widening.

"But don't be too happy... because I'll be giving you all an assignnt that will take you exactly two weeks to complete."

The whole class groaned in frustration.

I smirked to myself.

Typical Mr Collins.

This man would never let anyone enjoy their holiday in peace.

"You should actually be happy... because if you're fast and intelligent, it won't take up to one week... so you'll have the remaining week to rest."

"NOOOOO, Mr Collins!" The whole class shouted.
