Chapter 33- In His House
Tyler's POV
The ride to Declan's house was nothing out of the ordinary. At least, not at first. Declan made a few attempts at conversation, but I wasn't interested. I barely knew the guy, and honestly, I didn't care to. What could we possibly have to talk about? The weather? Sports? How he abandoned for God knows how long? Yeah, no thanks.
I had no idea how long this drive was going to be. I had never been to my father's house before—I didn't even know the man was still alive until recently, so forgive for not having his address morized.
I tried to keep my eyes open, but the steady hum of the car and the monotonous scenery outside made it impossible to fight off the sleep creeping in. I wanted to stay awake, to at least get familiar with the route in case I needed to find my way back. You never know when that kind of information could co in handy.
To keep myself occupied, I pulled out my phone. Maybe watching a movie would help keep awake. I rembered seeing people all over social dia hyping up so new film—sothing about it being a must-watch.
But who was I kidding? I wasn't a movie guy. Never had been. Movies were like a guaranteed sleeping pill for . The mont the opening credits rolled, I'd be out cold.
So instead, I decided to scroll through social dia, looking for anything that might keep entertained. That's when I saw it.
A post from Alexis.
She was ranting, threatening to sue whoever leaked her "private" tape. She was going on and on about how they'd pay, how she wouldn't back down until she found the culprit.
I scoffed. The audacity.
Maybe—just maybe—if she had an ounce of self-control, she wouldn't have fild herself in the first place. Or at the very least, she wouldn't have let the guy record her. Ever heard of consent, Alexis? Because from what I rembered, she didn't look too reluctant. In fact, she had smiled right into the damn cara. Waved at it.
And now she wanted to cry foul?
I shook my head. She wasn't serious. She needed a serious wake-up call because this lifestyle she was leading? It wasn't sustainable. No doubt she was a beautiful girl, but what good was beauty when you constantly trashed your own reputation? Every other day, she was trending for the wrong reasons.
I wondered what her parents thought. Did they even care? Were they the type to turn a blind eye, or worse—were they the ones encouraging her? I didn't know, and frankly, I didn't care.
Alexis was no longer my problem.
She stopped being my problem the day she cheated on and then had the audacity to flip the script, painting as the villain. She spread lies, made out to be the cheater, turned everyone against .
She was a monster.
And she deserved every bit of the karma coming her way.
I kept scrolling, my fingers moving mindlessly, but then—another video popped up.
I clicked on it, and my breath hitched.
It was from the school's blog. And, of course, starring in the spotlight was none other than Alexis Cross herself.
But this ti, she wasn't with just one guy.
Not even two.
Three.
Three.
Fucking.
Guys.
A bitter laugh escaped . Wasn't she the sa person threatening to sue people for exposing her? What was her excuse now? What was she going to say about this?
At this point, she might as well make an OnlyFans. At least then she'd be getting paid for all this nonsense instead of doing it for free.
I checked the date on the video.
Two months ago.
My stomach twisted.
Two months ago.
We were still together then.
I clenched my jaw as the realization sank in. This wasn't just so random mistake. This wasn't sothing she did after we broke up. No. This happened when we were still dating—when I was still in love with her, still thinking she was the one, still imagining a future with her.
A flash of mory hit .
That day.
The day we went on a date.
The sa day I thought I was making special for her.
My heart pounded as I pieced it together. That was the day she told she had a stomachache and needed to go ho early.
I had believed her.
I had driven her ho myself.
I even stopped to buy her dicine and a heating pad because she acted like she was in so much pain. She had played the part so well—clutching her stomach, wincing, acting like she could barely walk.
I should've seen through it.
When we got to her house, I had offered to help her inside, but she insisted she was fine. Told she could walk in herself.
Dumb, naive didn't question it.
I had no reason to.
She had called the next day, saying she slept through the night after taking the dicine. I had believed that too.
Now I knew the truth.
While I was worrying about her, she was in bed with three other guys.
I felt sick.
How could I have been so blind?
How could I have loved soone like her?
I gritted my teeth, trying to push the thoughts away, but it was too late. The damage was done.
A chi sounded from my phone.
I looked down and saw the school group chat blowing up.
People were connecting the dots.
They were realizing the truth.
I scrolled through the ssages, my pulse racing.
• Wait... wasn't she still with Tyler back then?
• So that ans she was the one cheating all along?!
• Damn, we all thought Tyler was the cheater, but it was Alexis?!
• She really fooled everyone, huh?
• Tyler deserves an apology.
• Man, this is wild.
I glanced at the participants.
Alexis was online.
She had seen everything.
But she didn't say a word.
She couldn't.
For once, she had no excuse.
No lie to spin.
No way to manipulate her way out of this one.
I exhaled, feeling a weight lift off my chest.
Finally.
People were seeing the truth.
Justice wasn't always instant, but karma? Karma always ca knocking.
And Alexis had just opened the door wide.
I was still scrolling through the ssages, watching as more and more people turned on her, when I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I looked up, montarily startled.
Declan.
He was staring at with a knowing look.
"We're here," he said.
I blinked and turned to look outside.
And for the first ti since this nightmare of a trip started, I was speechless.
The house—no, the mansion—was breathtaking.
Massive, modern, the kind of place you only saw in magazines or movies.
I stepped out of the car, my mouth slightly open as I took it all in.
A single word left my lips before I could stop it.
"Wow."
