Chapter 150- The Mistake I Can't Undo

Beatrice POV

"Why the fuck would you et a stranger in less than 48 hours, and not only did he sleep with you—he also walked away with all your life savings?!"

His voice exploded like a bomb.

"Are you fucking stupid?!"

The mont those words flew out of his mouth, I froze—and then slowly shifted back in fear. My legs felt weak. My heart was pounding like I just ran a marathon.

This... this was what I was trying to avoid. I didn't want him to get mad. I didn't want to provoke him. But now, just like I feared, he was already angry. So angry.

"I didn't an it that way," I whispered quickly, my voice trembling.

He suddenly laughed.

But it wasn't a funny laugh.

It was that dangerous kind of laugh. The one that sent chills crawling down your spine. The type that says, "Try again and see what happens."

"You didn't an it that way, Beatrice?" he repeated, his face twisting.

"Who in their right senses gives that kind of money to a man they just t? Huh?"

His hands were shaking now. He looked like he was struggling to hold himself back.

"Even —as a man—know it's completely stupid to hand over all your money to soone you barely know! What is wrong with you?!"

He pointed at .

"Look at what you've caused now!"

I swallowed hard. My lips quivered, but I couldn't keep quiet anymore. I knew I probably should, but the words were already crawling up my throat like fire.

I didn't want to keep looking like the villain. I wanted him to at least understand—even if just a little—that I didn't do it on purpose. That I wasn't trying to ruin anyone's life. I was just... trying to help.

"I'm so sorry, Declan," I said softly, tears slipping down my cheeks. "But it's not completely my fault."

"I didn't an it that way," I repeated again, because it was the only thing I could say. The only thing that felt true in the middle of all this ss.

I wiped my face with my palm and kept talking.

"When we finished having sex... right there, lying beside , he started talking about investnt. He said he had ideas. That he could help build sothing for myself. That I deserved more than struggling every day."

I sniffled.

"I told him I didn't have money. That I was broke. But he kept convincing . Over and over again."

I looked at Declan. He still looked furious. But I had to finish. I needed him to hear it all.

"Trust , Declan," I whispered. "I never wanted to risk the money. I swear I didn't."

"But he... he manipulated . He talked so much and made everything sound like he was doing it for . He even told the exact amount I had in my account—down to the last cent."

I stared at the wall because I couldn't look at Declan anymore.

"He told not to worry. That he wouldn't hurt . That he loved and would never run away with my money."

Then I heard his voice again. Low. Cold.

"And you believed him?"

I didn't want to believe Dave at first. I really didn't.

But the more he talked, the more everything he said started making painful sense.

He gave so many reasons to trust him. He knew what to say. How to say it. How to look in the eye like he ant every word.

I even told him—I told him—that the money he was talking about wasn't mine. That it was for my son. That Tyler and I had been saving that money for sothing big. Sothing important. Sothing that could change our lives.

But Dave looked in the eye, smiled, and told to keep it a secret. That I shouldn't even tell Tyler yet. He said I should just give him six months. Only six months.

He promised I'd get the full capital back—with massive interest. He said I wouldn't regret it. That this was a once-in-a-lifeti opportunity.

And stupid ... I believed him.

I believed every single lie he told because I thought he loved .

He even showed screenshots. His wallet. His investnt returns. Graphs. Charts. It all looked so real. So professional.

He said he just wanted to help . That he cared about . That he wanted to be independent. That he wanted to build a future with .

But the bastard fooled .

That fucking bastard fooled !

Tears burned my eyes as I spoke, my voice cracking under the weight of my regret. I could barely breathe as I looked at Declan, who just stood there, staring at with a look that could kill.

"First things first, Beatrice," Declan said, his voice calm—but too calm. The kind of calm that hides rage.

"I need to keep talking. Because if I stop for even one damn second to think about how you blew two million dollars, I swear to God, I might just walk over there and strangle you."

My heart dropped. I swallowed hard, keeping my head low.

"So, let's keep going," he continued. "Let ask you sothing, Beatrice. Why did you even believe anything he said in the first place? Especially after he ntioned the exact amount you had in your account?"

He narrowed his eyes.

"Did you... by any chance... tell him how much you had?"

I shook my head quickly. "No. I swear, I didn't."

"Then how did he know?"

"I—I don't know," I said, my voice barely above a whisper.

I felt like breaking down all over again.

"Beatrice," Declan snapped, stepping closer. "That wasn't enough for you to know sothing was off? He knew your bank balance down to the last dollar and you still thought he was being romantic?!"

He laughed, but it wasn't funny. Not even a little.

"Your brain didn't even shake or vibrate or anything?"
