Chapter 17: Chapter 17: I’ll Pay!
"At the Geek Internet Cafe, reserving a computer for my roommate."
Li Yang didn’t expect Wu Tianqi to go all out like this. To get information from him, Wu really would stop at nothing.
Wu Tianqi quickly replied, "Damn, you won’t co to reserve a board for , but you rush over to reserve a computer for your roommate!"
"I’m just here to look up so information. Next ti, I’ll reserve a board for you. Can’t let you suffer losses."
Just because of what he just said, next week I won’t reserve a computer for my roommate anymore.
Wu Tianqi: "Haha, Fellow Daoist Li, let
tell you sothing. Just now Jiang Banxia was beside
and played with my phone for a while. I know you probably won’t believe it, but it’s true. I had just finished a ga, and she seed a bit embarrassed, then left."
Li Yang: "..."
"I believe you, of course I do."
These jokes are fine to make, but don’t hold onto them forever.
"I even asked her to ask where you were for , but I didn’t see any chat records."
Upon hearing Li Yang was at the Geek Internet Cafe, Wu Tianqi felt relieved.
Thinking about it, how could Li Yang know his aunt? He himself couldn’t see people, and few people even had her contact, so it was purely overthinking.
"No worries, no worries, we were just talking about howork, nothing worth seeing."
This guy, after coming back to his senses, kept testing multiple tis.
There wasn’t much more to discuss, so he played a couple more gas and then left the internet cafe.
No matter how many "godfathers" his four roommates called him, he didn’t stick around.
He bought a scallion pancake at the cafe’s entrance; it was already seven o’clock, and even in May, the sky was getting dark.
He walked by the river.
The na Jiang City cos from a river that runs through the county town, with the water system eventually flowing into the Yangtze River.
Even during dry seasons, the middle of the river is over seven ters deep, and in flood season, the shallowest parts on the sides are over three ters.
Every year, countless people drown in this river, and in so years, if fewer than ten drown, the ’Deep Water Hazard’ signs contributed greatly.
The riverbanks have a constant flow of people, from all age groups, and so young couples might even be from Jiangcheng First High School.
It’s certainly safe during this ti; if soone fell into the water, there would be no shortage of enthusiastic bystanders.
He knew he ca out too early, but it wasn’t yet the night market, and internet fees were expensive.
Staying another three hours would cost a day’s and a half’s al money.
If he had money, who would use the ’11’ bus to run two kiloters to grab a spot?
But the spot was worth it, as he got half a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from his roommate.
He had over a thousand in his account now, wanting to rent a place and call Jiang Banxia over for study sessions.
Actually, when he saw that chat record, he couldn’t help but smile at first.
But then he thought of a horse-faced big man calling ’dad’, and suddenly felt a bit disgusted, furiously pulling down his mouth corners.
He waited until ten-thirty when there were fewer people by the river.
He started his patrol.
Soon, he saw a lancholic woman standing by the river railing, looking at the late-night river.
He had imagined this scene many tis before; due to frequent drowning incidents, there were railings by the river, and generally, it was hard to fall in. For adults, the chance was even less.
So, most likely, it was the rich man’s daughter, unable to think straight, who jumped in.
People who jump into a river to commit suicide must be filled with despair.
The lancholy woman before him fit his target perfectly.
He didn’t know much about the rich man’s daughter, only her surna was Bai.
This surna stands out. In a limited public area, encountering two with the Bai surna ans they’re either family out together or the girl is pregnant, and the child carries her surna.
He slowly approached the lancholy woman, and due to the dim light, could only make out a general figure.
As he got closer, he called out, "Hey beautiful, you..."
The lancholy woman quickly turned around.
"Sorry to bother you, ma’am..."
Li Yang quickly took off.
He didn’t know what the rich man’s daughter looked like, but he had absolute trust in Wu Tianqi’s taste.
That face just now... Could Wu Tianqi really be into it?
No way!
He walked further along, and once again saw a girl standing by the river.
This ti he saw clearly, definitely a girl, decent-looking, at least passing. Given Wu Tianqi’s not-so-picky nature, it was possible he’d make a move.
"Hello, beautiful, I’m a street magician. Can you help
with a magic trick?"
The girl turned her head impatiently, ready to scold the strange man flirting with her.
Instead, she suddenly exclaid.
"Li Yang, did Feng Ping send you to call ?"
The girl’s eyes stayed on Li Yang, not moving away.
"Uh... no..."
Feng Ping was his roommate; did this girl know his roommate? Most likely his roommate’s girlfriend?
Li Yang didn’t have much of an impression of his roommates; he only recently rembered their nas.
He couldn’t possibly be familiar with their girlfriends.
Li Yang was racking his brain trying to recall the girl’s face but couldn’t rember anything useful.
The girl said, "So you want
to say good things about you to Wang Manqi? It depends on how you perform then."
"What the heck, I’ve got the wrong person, I’m leaving!"
Li Yang said as he prepared to turn and leave.
"If you don’t chase Wang Manqi, she’ll get another boyfriend. Don’t bla
if I didn’t warn you."
"If she does, she does. None of my business!"
The girl’s eyes lit up. Li Yang’s good looks were well-known. She knew several of her friends secretly fancied Li Yang.
Unfortunately, Wang Manqi’s presence squashed their chances.
"Li Yang, let
ask you sothing, does Feng Ping know you ca to find ?"
"He doesn’t know, I have sothing else..."
The girl’s eyes brightened even more, "So you ca specifically to find ..."
"No..."
"Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. But the motel fee is on you."
"Damn, bye!"
Li Yang ran without looking back.
"Stop! I’ll pay..."
The girl’s voice trailed behind him, and Li Yang ran even faster.
She stomped her foot in anger!
She didn’t expect her forward approach to be so clearly rejected by Li Yang.
Damn it!
Is being Wang Manqi’s lapdog really so rewarding? What else can he do besides look?
Quickly, she took out her phone and found Wang Manqi’s QQ, typed out a ssage, and sent it.
"Dear sister, let
tell you sothing, just now Li Yang deliberately hit on , but I ignored him. I think he’s trying to use
to contact you. Don’t give him a chance, leave him hanging. I’ll help you, I promise it won’t be long before he begs for your forgiveness..."
Simultaneously, she found her boyfriend’s QQ, and asked, "Feng Ping, Wang Manqi asked
to get Li Yang’s QQ from you. She deleted it in anger before."
