Chapter 331: Chapter 331: The Bloody Truth (3)

Although Lu Jingzhi was deceived by Lu Ting, what difference did it make? He had indeed misunderstood his sister ti and again because of Lu Ting.

He was not innocent either.

“What should we do about Qin Huan?”

Lu Zhanxing no longer even called her great-aunt.

Su Mian’s eyes were red, and the words she spoke were charged with hatred: “She deserves to die! Now, when I think of her, I can hardly stop myself from killing her!”

“We can’t rush this, the evidence is still insufficient. She has thousands of excuses to exonerate herself. I understand dad’s character; without conclusive, hard evidence, he won’t fully believe us.”

...

Although Qin Huan was his brother’s wife, having hurt his daughter, Lu Rui would inevitably not let her go.

Lu Rui didn’t know why Qin Huan had abandoned Qiao Yun, but he knew what she valued most.

A cornered dog will jump over a wall; she might just slip up.

So, he started contacting people, arranging things in motion.

These matters ultimately cast a shadow over the entire family.

In the silence, Lu Jingzhi suddenly spoke, “Did my sister ever regard as her brother?”

No one could provide him an answer, not even Lu Zhanxing, who couldn’t bear to speak harshly to him.

After school.

Qiao Yun saw Lu Zhanxing, and though he wore a mask covering most of his face, she recognized him nonetheless.

“Second brother, welco back.”

Qiao Yun looked up at the tall Lu Zhanxing, evaluating him with her clear, distinct eyes, trying to read sothing from his face.

“I’ve co to take you ho,” said Lu Zhanxing, his voice hoarse and his expression unreadable.

He couldn’t control his desire to see Qiao Yun, which is why he had co to pick her up from school.

Qiao Yun nodded and got into Lu Zhanxing’s car.

Throughout the ride, both were quiet.

Lu Zhanxing gripped the steering wheel tightly, several tis wanting to speak with Qiao Yun, but the words were swallowed back each ti.

Seeing Qiao Yun’s docile and quiet deanor, deep guilt welled up in his eyes.

Qiao Yun knew he was in a bad mood and didn’t disturb him.

Also, she wasn’t very adept at handling situations like these.

The car stopped in the courtyard, and they got out one after the other.

Lu Zhanxing hung his head and started walking forward, only to find his sleeve being tugged.

He looked down to see Qiao Yun reaching out with two tender, white fingers, clutching a small piece of his sleeve fabric.

“You are unhappy,” Qiao Yun said with certainty.

Lu Zhanxing’s eyes grew deeper and more complex. After a while, he shook his head.

“I like it when you smile, not like this.”

Qiao Yun gently shook his sleeve, her tone soft and wheedling, as if cooing.

“Second brother, can you smile for ?”

Lu Zhanxing’s heart suddenly softened; he felt bittersweet. He showed Qiao Yun a brilliant smile.

“Then brother will smile for you every day.”

Qiao Yun nodded, “Yes, you look good when you smile.”

Lu Zhanxing felt an overwhelming tenderness; he paused for a mont before lifting his hand to tousle her hair.

Softly, he said, “I’m not unhappy, just angry at myself for not returning sooner, and for letting you be wronged. I’m sorry, I’m not a good brother; I haven’t taken care of you properly.”

Qiao Yun thought about it, then denied, “I wasn’t wronged, and it has nothing to do with you. I’m not a child, I can take care of myself.”

Lu Zhanxing sighed, unable to help but think.

Seeing the daughter of a murderer living so happily in his ho, how could she not feel wronged?

His sister was Professor Qiao, pursued by many; yet she was wronged in his family’s care—a family capable enough to not have fallen bankrupt by now.

It was a miracle.

At that mont, Lu Zhanxing realized that his family did not yet know his sister’s true identity. If they did… it would drive them insane!

Especially his elder brother…

Lu Jingzhi, through the window, observed the interactions between the siblings, his mouth turning increasingly bitter.

Qiao Yun never got that close to him.

When Qiao Yun entered the house, only Lu Jingzhi was there with a grim expression, and she didn’t see her parents. She looked questioningly at Lu Zhanxing.

Lu Zhanxing dryly stated, “Mom is not feeling well, Dad is with her.”

Su Mian had cried until she fainted at one point.

Now, she probably didn’t know how to face Qiao Yun, feeling she had betrayed her, even though she had genuinely shown familial affection towards Lu Ting.

Qiao Yun didn’t say anything; it appeared Second Brother had already discussed the matter with them.

Professor Qiao, understanding by nature, gave them ti to accept these facts.

At the dining table.

Apart from Qiao Yun, both Lu Zhanxing and Lu Jingzhi found their food tasteless, unable to swallow even a bite.

Qiao Yun didn’t seem to mind; she was naturally quiet.

Lu Jingzhi had to go through much ntal preparation before setting down his chopsticks. His gaze fell on Qiao Yun and he said hoarsely, “Little sister, I’m sorry.”

He had much he wanted to say, but didn’t know how to say it; he had been terribly wrong before.

He only hoped his sister would give him a chance to make up for these mistakes.

Lu Jingzhi now deeply regretted his previous biased judgnt.
