Chapter 430: Chapter 430: Wedding

Nangong Xiaoxue said, “For the Yan family to produce a child as outstanding as Qianyi, it must be due to the good karma accumulated by your ancestors.”

The implication was clear; it had little to do with Old Lady Yan.

Old Lady Yan caught the drift and defensively said, “Qianyi is so outstanding because she was well taught by .”

The two won, who had once compared and competed over a man, had never imagined that in their old age they would still be competing over their descendants.

Mu Yunlie sensed the atmosphere turning sour and quickly changed the topic, “The wedding between Qianyi and should also be scheduled. Do you elders have any thoughts on this matter?”

ntion of the wedding piqued the interest of both Nangong Xiaoxue and Old Lady Yan, and even the usually silent Nangong Jie joined in the discussion with them.

All three shared the sa opinions regarding the wedding, finally bringing harmony to the conversation and dissolving the awkwardness.

Yan Qianyi said, “I’d like to wait until the baby is born before we hold the wedding, as I am already starting to show.”

The three who had been enthusiastically discussing halted abruptly and all turned to look at Yan Qianyi.

Old Lady Yan said, “If you wear a puffy wedding dress, it will cover your stomach and won’t be noticeable.”

Yan Qianyi said, “I also hope my brother can hold my hand and walk down the aisle, but right now the peace treaty between the Federation Empire and the Morris Empire has not yet been signed, making it inconvenient for my brother to co to the Federation Empire.”

Normally, it is the father who walks his daughter down the aisle and hands her over to the groom.

But Yan Qianyi does not need Yan Hong to attend her wedding; having her brother and grandmother is enough.

Speaking of Yan Yao, Old Lady Yan suddenly fell silent.

It was precisely because she knew that Yan Yao was not of Yan family’s blood that she always disregarded her daughter-in-law.

Nangong Jie turned to Mu Yunlie and asked, “Shouldn’t the signing of the peace treaty between the two countries be already in progress? How co it’s not settled yet?”

Yan Qianyi looked at Mu Yunlie curiously.

Mu Yunlie was just a soldier from the Special Departnt, and even though he acted as a diator, he shouldn’t be too clear about the specifics, right?

Her brother had told her that it was he and the Commander of the Federation Empire who were discussing the matter.

Mu Yunlie said, “It’s the Morris Empire side; so senior officials are dissatisfied with the terms of the treaty.”

Nangong Jie frowned, “Then just offer more benefits to satisfy them, won’t that solve the issue?”

“We’ve already conceded a lot. We can’t concede further. Prince Yao is very pleased with the terms of the treaty; it seems like those officials have no real interest in making peace.”

“What do we do now?”

“Prince Yao said that he will communicate with them and will see to it that they agree no matter what. It will just take a little more ti; he told to wait for news.”

Nangong Jie nodded, “That’s good.”

Listening to their conversation, Yan Qianyi didn’t think too much of it anymore.

She assud the details ca either from the Commander or her brother to Mu Yunlie.

Nangong Xiaoxue said, “No matter when the wedding is held, it’s inevitable. We can still start preparing in advance.”

“Yes,” Old Lady Yan added eagerly, nodding her head.

The wedding preparations for Ah Lie and Qianyi had already caused her much concern.

She had originally thought Mu Yunlie was an orphan and had taken it upon herself to arrange the wedding.

Later, when she learned of Mu Yunlie’s true identity, she stepped back, thinking that with Nangong Jie’s opposition, the children would not end up together.

But Mu Yunlie told her the wedding was still going forward and that he would be responsible for the preparations.

Yet, Yan Qianyi and Mu Yunlie had parted ways again.

The entire planning process had been fraught with setbacks. Now, she just hoped that nothing else would go wrong, that the wedding could just proceed, and that she could feel at ease.

The three elders continued their discussion about the wedding.

Not until after lunch, that afternoon, did they depart.

Having sent them off, Yan Qianyi let out a long sigh of relief, “Thankfully, they didn’t start arguing. It really wasn’t easy.”

During the al, the two Old Madams nearly clashed over a wedding detail, but fortunately, Yunlie imdiately took charge and made a decision by combining both of their opinions.

Mu Yunlie said, “Today is a good start. They’ve already started talking and eating together. It will only get better from here.”

Yan Qianyi nodded, “Yes, I’m going to take a nap.”

All morning she had been tense, worried that the three elders might fall out at any mont. She was understandably tired.

Suddenly, Mu Yunlie took her hand and asked, “Do you not want to have a wedding with ?”

Yan Qianyi paused, “Why would you think that?”

“Everyone was discussing the wedding today, and you, the bride, didn’t offer a single opinion.”

Shouldn’t girls be full of anticipation and dreams about their own weddings?

But she hadn’t voiced a single comnt or idea the entire ti.

Yan Qianyi smiled, “Whatever you decide is fine by . As long as my brother can attend my wedding, that’s enough for . I don’t mind about anything else.”

“Rest assured, he will attend.”

Yan Qianyi’s lack of concern for the wedding left Mu Yunlie with so unease in his heart, but he didn’t say anything more about it.

“Go take your nap. I’m going to the Mu Family tonight and won’t be back for dinner.”

Just as Yan Qianyi was about to turn and head upstairs, she quickly looked at Mu Yunlie upon hearing his words, “Are you going to investigate Mu Chen?”

“Yes.”

“Can I co with you?”

“Of course,” Mu Yunlie smiled, “as long as you want to go.”

“Then call when you leave.”

She wanted to do so investigating herself.

But what she wanted to investigate was different from Mu Yunlie.

Mu Yunlie needed to prove that his father hadn’t committed suicide by jumping off a building, but that it was a homicide.

And she wanted to confirm whether the car accident that she and her mother were involved in years ago was caused by Mu Huaner, or was it… by Mu Chen?

Thinking about visiting the Mu Family that evening, Yan Qianyi tossed and turned in bed unable to sleep.

She sat up and ticulously reviewed the information she had gathered on everyone in the Mu Family once again.

She still harbored a sliver of hope that Mu Huaner was not the real mastermind.

If any other mber of the Mu Family had been responsible, the revenge she sought for her mother wouldn’t cause too much harm to Mu Yunlie.

At four o’clock, Mu Yunlie knocked on the bedroom door.

Yan Qianyi hurriedly put away the light screen and responded, “I’m awake.”

“There are dresses in the wardrobe. Pick one you like, and I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

“Okay, I’ll co down soon.”

Yan Qianyi chose a poofy dress that could hide her abdon, quickly applied so makeup, and went downstairs.

Mu Yunlie was waiting for her in the living room downstairs.

Dressed in a tailored pure black suit, he appeared even more imposing.

Not having seen him in a suit before, Yan Qianyi was struck by his appearance and stared unblinkingly at him.

He was too handso!

Even more so than the domineering CEOs in idol dramas!

The precious elegance that emanated from him seed ingrained in his very bones.
