I had turned off the surveillance, and any mont now, perhaps even tonight, Luna would bring Michael back ho.

But seeing Betty like this, what was I supposed to do?

Betty stood at Michael's door, lost in thought.

What was going through her mind?

Was what was coming good or bad?

Turning off the surveillance, I took a mont to cool down and tried to put myself in Betty's shoes.

If Betty had shown no reaction at all, wouldn't that have made her seem heartless?

Having co this far, I decided to accept whatever ca next.

I could only hope that the dical team Leng Yongshuang had found would truly be able to save Michael.

After reassuring myself, I threw myself into my work.

Focusing on work was the only way to calm my mind.

My role now was to say nothing, do nothing, just do what I needed to do and play my part when the ti ca.

As for Betty, since I had chosen to forgive, I should also choose to trust.

Work ended, and it was ti to head ho for dinner.

I wondered if Betty would act out of the ordinary tonight.

But before I could even put on my coat, my phone rang.

It was Luna.

"What's up?" I answered, a bit tense.

Every ti I saw Luna, I was reminded of the day I left ho, making her calls always seem a bit unsettling.

"Take a day off tomorrow. Let's et at the amusent park..." Luna's voice ca through the phone.

Her tone wasn't cold, but her words were still very direct.

"Okay..." I replied simply, my mind briefly short-circuiting.

The ssage was clear: I needed to take a day off to et at the amusent park, and I wouldn't just be eting Luna—Michael would be there too.

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, I hung up the phone.

I put on my clothes again and left the office building.

There was no joy in heading ho this ti; I kept asking myself if I was truly ready to welco Michael back.

What would happen next?

My emotions were mixed as I made my way ho.

When I opened the door, I was surprised to see Betty looking perfectly normal, ready to greet .

"Take a day off tomorrow..." I said to Betty at the dinner table, but after I spoke, I didn't get a response from her.

I turned to look at her, and she seed very puzzled.

"What's wrong?" I asked, my mind racing with worry.

Betty's unusual gesture and expression made uncomfortable, even though I kept telling myself to understand her.

"Honey, have you been too tired lately? You need to rest. You've been so busy you've forgotten yourself. I don't need to take a day off tomorrow; tomorrow is the weekend..." Betty said with a look of concern, then continued to serve food into my bowl, her hands trembling slightly.

It suddenly hit that tomorrow was the weekend, a regular day off for Betty, who didn't work outside the ho.

Clearly, I had been distracted.

I remained silent, continuing to eat, while thinking about Betty's trembling hands as she served the food.

Although she looked puzzled by my comnt, I sensed she might have guessed sothing but chose not to show it.

At that mont, I felt a mix of anticipation and fear about the upcoming reunion between mother and son.

The night was long and sleepless for both Betty and .

I don't know how I made it until dawn; usually, nights just flew by, but this one seed endless.

As the day began to break, Betty got up from beside .

I wasn't sure if she had slept, but I certainly hadn't.

Finally, it was ti for breakfast.

I left the bedroom to find Betty preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

In the bathroom mirror, I saw my own reflection: dark circles under bloodshot eyes.

After freshening up, I saw Betty setting the breakfast table.

She gave a slight, sowhat forced smile.

Today was no ordinary day; we were about to et soone very special, and her smile couldn't hide her unease.

However, I noticed that unlike , Betty didn't have dark circles, and her eyes weren't bloodshot.

She looked surprisingly fresh and alert.

Could it be that the excitent of the upcoming event had invigorated her?

After getting ready, I called Luna to confirm the ti we had agreed upon.

Then, Betty and I left the house together.

The ride was silent; Betty didn't initiate any conversation, which was unusual for her.

She just stared out the window, seemingly at the passing scenery, but I knew she was actually trying to mask her turbulent emotions.

She knew what we were heading to, even though I hadn't explained it to her.

What emotions were swirling inside her?

Nervousness? Fear? Longing? Excitent? Anticipation?

I could only guess.

I was no different.

I hadn't told Betty about Michael's background because I was unsure of the consequences.

Whatever they might be, they would certainly impact our family.

For now, I kept this secret, hoping Betty might discover it on her own.

That would make it easier to explain when the ti ca.

As we arrived at our destination, our thoughts tangled in silent discord, I led the way with Betty following behind.

We didn't speak a word.

As we neared the eting spot, my emotions grew more complex.

It was 8 AM, and the amusent park was already bustling with joyful families and couples.

The cheerful atmosphere made understand why Luna had chosen this place for the reunion; it would make our eting more lively.

If we had t in a quiet restaurant or another place, perhaps the atmosphere would have felt more oppressive.

By the ti I reached the eting spot, my body felt numb, driven only by the consciousness in my brain.

Luna and Michael were nowhere to be seen.

I checked my watch and realized I was early; the nervousness had made lose track of ti.

We still had nearly ten minutes before our scheduled eting.

Luna was punctual, I was sure she wouldn't be late.

I sat down on a nearby bench, and Betty slowly joined .

She occasionally glanced at , hesitant to speak, her eyes flickering with slight confusion.

She had thought I brought her here to see Michael, as today was the day we had planned.

But now, sitting silently in the amusent park, she wondered if I had sothing serious to discuss.

Her confusion was tinged with nervousness.
