After Coulson and his SHIELD special ops team took over the situation involving the Life Foundation or, more precisely, Carlton Drake and Riot, an event that was not particularly high in terms of importance was quietly resolved without causing significant widespread impact.
Following the resolution of this incident, Coulson had Eddie accompany him to a eting room in the Life Foundation’s office building. Leaving only two mbers of the special ops team by his side, it was evident that Coulson had sothing specific to discuss with Eddie privately.
Sitting in the chairs of the eting room, Coulson placed his tablet on the table in front of him. Then, he looked up at Eddie, who was sitting across from him.
Previously, Lin Rui had only casually ntioned a few things about Eddie, Venom, and Riot in the information provided to SHIELD. The subsequent investigation into these individuals and events was arranged by Coulson himself.
So, as far as the seemingly ordinary person sitting in front of him was concerned, Coulson even knew the color of the underwear he was wearing today. Of course, this information was just a necessary part of SHIELD’s investigation.
Coulson had not co here personally to learn about Venom, an extraterrestrial lifeform, or to investigate Eddie.
“Mr. Brock, we at SHIELD are aware of your situation. The extraterrestrial lifeform that resides within you and shares a symbiotic relationship with you is called Venom, correct?” Coulson initiated the conversation, addressing the elephant in the room.
Upon hearing Coulson finally ntion Venom, Eddie couldn’t help but tense up, and Venom within him also grew apprehensive.
“Yes, Agent Coulson, that’s correct. The entity you just saw is Venom,” Eddie replied honestly, despite his nervousness and so fear of SHIELD.
In the presence of SHIELD, Eddie and Venom dared not make any sudden moves. They figured they should just cooperate and follow SHIELD’s lead.
After hearing Eddie’s response, Coulson nodded silently. He continued, “Mr. Brock, we are well aware of the relationship between you and Venom. However, can we be certain that neither you nor Venom pose a threat to Earth?”
“No, no, no! We’re not a threat! I’m a good guy, and Venom listens to . Although he’s an extraterrestrial lifeform, he’s nothing like that Riot guy,” Eddie hurriedly answered Coulson’s question, even before Venom had a chance to shout within his mind.
Coulson observed Eddie carefully as he responded. Eddie’s behavior at this mont didn’t seem deceptive; he and Venom genuinely had no intention of causing harm on Earth.
“Very well, then we can rest assured. However, concerning Mr. Brock and Venom, SHIELD will still be conducting routine monitoring. I hope Mr. Brock can understand,” Coulson maintained his calm tone as he outlined so necessary asures regarding Eddie and Venom’s situation.
“No problem! I promise to be a law-abiding citizen from now on!”
Considering that Venom hadn’t been forcibly removed from his body right then and there, Eddie was quite content with just being monitored. He had already witnessed Carlton Drake being carried away in a body bag, hadn’t he?
“Good, Mr. Brock. Furthermore, this is a suggestion for your future life on behalf of our Captain.”
With a swipe, Coulson pushed the tablet toward Eddie. Eddie, however, montarily didn’t recognize who Coulson ant by “Captain.” Nevertheless, knowing that Coulson was a high-ranking SHIELD Advanced Agent, it was clear that this Captain held a significant position within SHIELD.
Eddie turned his attention to the tablet. As he read the content displayed on the screen, his expression changed.
…
About half an hour later, the doors of the eting room swung open, and Coulson and Eddie erged, displaying a sense of camaraderie. Evidently, their conversation had been relatively pleasant.
“Mr. Brock, we’ll head back for now. If you’ve made up your mind, feel free to contact anyti,” Coulson smiled at Eddie, standing at the entrance of the eting room.
“Alright!”
With that, Coulson, accompanied by two mbers of the special ops team, briskly departed. The chaos caused by Carlton Drake and Riot had already been swiftly quelled by SHIELD, and the Life Foundation would now fall under their jurisdiction. There was nothing more to be done here.
As Eddie stepped out of the Life Foundation’s office building, he gazed upward. In the pitch-black night sky, several Quinjets rapidly ascended into the heights, blending seamlessly with the darkness before disappearing from sight.
Although Coulson and SHIELD’s special ops team had left, Eddie was well aware that his future life would be under constant surveillance by SHIELD. In fact, after encountering the Phantom Knight, Eddie’s life likely had no more secrets.
Sighing softly, as Eddie was looking up at the departing Quinjets, Venom, who had remained hidden within him since earlier, slowly erged with a canine-like head and soon transford into the appearance of a husky.
“Eddie, are you considering the suggestion made by Captain?” Venom inquired calmly as Eddie redirected his gaze.
Eddie had seen the tablet that Coulson had shown him, and the Captain ntioned was none other than Director Captain Arica Steve Rogers. The suggestion was for Eddie to join SHIELD, but in a unique capacity, akin to an off-the-books recruit.
Upon glimpsing the recruitnt offer, Eddie had indeed felt a strong temptation, but he had suppressed the impulse to imdiately join SHIELD. Instead, he had inford Coulson that he needed so ti to think it over. After all, there were many factors to consider when it ca to joining SHIELD and leaving behind a normal, ordinary life.
“Considering it is necessary, especially since you’ve witnessed how powerful SHIELD is. Phantom Knight, who startled you earlier, has so unclear connection with SHIELD as well. However, this matter must be approached with caution,” Eddie replied while heading in the direction of his apartnt.
As soone with potent abilities due to hosting an extraterrestrial lifeform, Eddie wasn’t sure if he could ever return to a completely ordinary life, especially with SHIELD’s watchful eye on him.
