When I followed the villagers in, I could see the destruction that the skeletons had caused.
There was blood and bone that were scattered all over the place.
The bones ca from the undead that the necromancers summoned and the blood ca from the necromancers themselves. The skeletons really had shown no rcy as they cleared out this place.
But then again, it wasn’t as if they could show rcy since they were just skeletons that didn’t have a will of their own.
It could be said that it was the necromancers that controlled them that showed no rcy.
However, I understood why they did such a thing.
It was sothing that I saw as I was heading deeper into this outpost, but it was a sight that was hard to miss.
In one of the rooms, there were so children that were currently being looked after by the necromancers from the village. It was clear by the condition of these children what they had been kidnapped for.
"Instead of becoming future mbers of the Undead Society, you’ll be far happier coming to the village with us." I thought to myself as I turned away from that room.
Not to ntion that since they had been kidnapped by the Undead Society, they were certain to be talented. It was for the sa reason that I had been kidnapped by the Undead Society in the first place, though in my case...I turned out a bit different.
At the sa ti, it wasn’t as if there was anywhere else for them to go now that they had been brought to this place.
So the only thing that could be done was take them in.
After following the villagers for a bit, we arrived at a large room.
It was quite dark in this place, so I wasn’t able to see everything that was here.
But once they lit up the room with torches, the flas that were my eyes beca even brighter.
The things that were in this room...they were right to be excited about this place.
Even with a single glance, I could tell that there were quite the valuable things that were here. But the one place that excited the most was a door that had an array on it that was still active.
Since this was a door that had this array on it even in a place like this where all these treasures were gathered, there was no doubt that there would be sothing special hidden behind that door.
Since they couldn’t break through the array on the door on their own, it was only natural that they would look to to do it.
But even I couldn’t break the array right away since it was quite the complicated one.
Instead of focusing on that, I started looking around the room itself to see what it contained.
"Move all of these things away, we’ll sort them later. We have to get out of here as soon as possible." I said this, but I was still looking at so of the books that I found.
These were books on necromancy that were clearly the teachings that the Undead Society had passed on for generations. With this, it would be easy for to learn even more spells and summon more undead.
But I pulled myself away in the end since it wasn’t the ti to read this.
Still I couldn’t help saying to myself, "As expected of the Undead Society. They’ve been around for such a long ti, it would have been disappointing if they didn’t have this much."
I put the books away and turned to face the door with the array on it.
Only after observing the array for a bit, I found that there really wasn’t much that I could do about this array.
The knowledge that I had about arrays just simply wasn’t enough for to deal with this one. This array was one that was actually much more complicated than it seed.
This was an array that had been created with knowledge that far surpassed my own as there were hidden chanisms hidden within this array.
Since this was an array that was too complicated for to crack, the only thing that I could do was...
"Co and help open this." I grabbed one of the necromancer corpses that I had kept in my storage space.
This necromancer was dressed differently from the other necromancers.
Most of the other necromancers wore similar cloaks, but this one had a cloak that seed to be fancier than theirs. It seed like this one was the leader among these necromancers.
Since it was a leader of this outpost, it should know about this door with the array on it.
Instead of wasting ti trying to crack it on my own, it was easier to summon the soul of this corpse to solve it.
After all, there wasn’t much ti to begin with.
There was no doubt that the Undead Society would have their own way of knowing what happened here, so it wasn’t as if we could stay here much longer. It was best to take care of this matter and leave as soon as possible.
After the soul was summoned, it didn’t seem like it was planning to tell anything at first as it couldn’t believe that it was dead.
However, with the difference in will between our souls, it was easy for to force this soul to speak.
"Press here and here, it will release the array and open the door."
Following these instructions, the door opened without anything else happening.
It didn’t take long for the door to open to reveal what was hidden inside.
The problem was that the mont that this door opened, there was this strange sensation that ca out.
Death.
Even though I was an undead, I could feel the sensation of death coming from inside of this room. It was as if whatever was in there was sothing that was even capable of bringing death to the undying.
That just made even more intrigued about what was hidden behind this door.
