Zain had just finished marking all the girls, his body feeling heavy.
He looked tired, his breathing a bit uneven.
Velra stepped forward and offered him her arm.
"Master, do you need help getting back to your room?"
Zain shook his head. "No need," he said.
He sat down on the throne and closed his eyes.
His chest rose and fell slowly.
After a mont, he activated [Heavenly Demon Breathing], pulling in energy from the air around him.
His strength returned quickly, his body refilled with power.
He opened his eyes and looked at Velra.
"Call for the three demons," he said.
Velra nodded. "Right away, Master."
She disappeared down the hall.
Soon after, Red Demon, Blue Demon, and Yellow Demon appeared, kneeling before him.
Zain leaned forward slightly.
"Now I need to tell you sothing," he said.
"All of you, the thirty-three girls here, have officially beco mbers of the [Heavenly Demon Sect]."
Red Demon raised her head, her eyes burning with excitent.
"Thank you, Master," she said.
Blue Demon and Yellow Demon both nodded.
"We’re ready," they said together.
Zain looked at them, his eyes hard.
"Rember, you have to be demonic humans," he said.
"A rciless demon that can think like a human."
The three demons glanced at each other but said nothing, waiting for him to continue.
Zain pointed at each of them.
"Every one of you has also received three abilities from ," he said.
"Let explain it clearly one more ti."
He raised one finger.
"First, the [Heavenly Demon Ether]."
"This is your energy. It flows through you at all tis."
"You use it to fight, to change your body into a [Heavenly Demon Body]."
He raised a second finger.
"Second, the [Heavenly Demon Body]. This is your strength."
"It lets you heal faster and get stronger every ti you fight and every ti you get hurt."
"The worse the fight, the stronger you beco."
He raised a third finger.
"And last, the [Heavenly Demon Breathing]."
"This is an active ability that lets you absorb energy from around you."
"Just breathe while activating it, and it will fill you up."
All the demons girls nodded.
Zain smirked. "Good."
"Rember, that power is yours now. Use it well. Rember who you are."
Velra stepped forward and crossed her arms.
"They’ll rember, Master," she said.
Zain looked at the three demons.
"And you three," he said.
"You’re not just the first. You’re the strongest."
"The others will look to you. Don’t let them down."
Red Demon bowed her head. "I’ll make sure they rember who we are."
Blue Demon clenched her fists tighter.
"We’ll show them what it ans to be a demon."
Yellow Demon’s eyes burned. "We’ll make you proud, Master."
Zain leaned back on the throne. "Good," he said.
"Then go. Train them."
"Teach them what it ans to be part of the [Heavenly Demon Sect]."
The three demons bowed. "Yes, Master," they said in unison.
Zain watched them go, a faint smile on his lips.
He stood up from the throne and stretched his arms.
"Now it’s ti for to go to the Hero Association," he said.
"I still need to have my appearance there, keep up the image."
Velra stepped closer, her smile playful.
"Why don’t we play first so you can heal faster?"
Zain chuckled.
"You always know how to make it better," he said.
"Lead the way."
Velra reached out and gently took his hand.
"Co on, Master. Let’s make sure you’re fully recovered."
Zain smirked and followed her down the hall, his mind already thinking ahead.
---
Red Demon, Blue Demon, and Yellow Demon stood in front of the thirty girls.
They looked calm, their eyes focused.
Red Demon crossed her arms.
"Now we will show you how to use these powers," she said.
The girls all nodded, their faces tense.
Red Demon turned to Blue Demon and Yellow Demon.
"Yellow, Blue," she said.
"Rember—turn your mind to demon. Let it devour you. It’s okay."
Blue Demon took a deep breath.
"Yeah, I understand," she said.
"I won’t fight it this ti."
Yellow Demon nodded too.
"I’ll do it," she said.
"I’ll let it eat ."
Red Demon smirked.
"Good. This is the only way to control it."
The thirty girls watched with wide eyes as Blue Demon and Yellow Demon closed their eyes.
A low growl ca from their throats as their [Heavenly Demon Ether] swirled around them.
Blue Demon’s hands shook.
"It’s... stronger this ti," she said.
"It’s inside my head."
Yellow Demon’s eyes snapped open.
"It’s telling to kill everything," she said.
"It’s so loud."
Red Demon nodded.
"That’s normal," she said.
"Don’t fight it. Let it in."
Blue Demon and Yellow Demon let out short laughs, their voices sounding different, like growls.
Their eyes glowed dark red.
The girls gasped, a few of them stepping back.
Red Demon turned to the group.
"See that?" she said.
"They’re becoming demons. You’ll be like that too."
One girl raised her hand.
"Is it supposed to feel like it’s eating you alive?" she asked.
Red Demon nodded.
"Yes," she said.
"But that’s how you get stronger."
Blue Demon’s smile twisted.
"I can feel it," she said.
"It’s tearing my thoughts apart."
Yellow Demon laughed, her voice rough.
"It’s beautiful," she said.
"I feel alive."
Red Demon watched them, her eyes hard.
"It looks like you two still can’t control it," she said.
"You’re worse than ."
Blue Demon grinned.
"Yeah," she said.
"It’s stronger than I thought."
Yellow Demon’s laugh echoed in the room.
"I want to kill sothing," she said.
Red Demon pointed at them.
"Then let’s fight," she said.
"That’s how you learn to control it. When you fight, it’ll push you to the edge. That’s when you’ll figure it out."
Blue Demon and Yellow Demon nodded.
"Let’s do it," Blue Demon said.
"Yeah," Yellow Demon added.
"I’m ready."
Red Demon turned back to the thirty girls.
"You all watch closely," she said.
"This is the path to becoming real demons."
The thirty girls stood still, eyes wide, so excited, so afraid.
But all of them still watched the demons.
