Even without the oracle, killing Qin Chu was a task Asina had to accomplish.
It wasn’t part of the Hero Team’s plan, but rather because Lord Jie Luo’s Residual Soul resided within Qin Chu. To ensure Lord Jie Luo’s complete resurrection and minimize the contamination and interference from Qin Chu, crushing Qin Chu’s soul was necessary.
Asina never doubted this objective.
But now, in this mont, Asina felt a strong resistance to the act of killing Qin Chu.
Sohow... she didn’t want to see Qin Chu die.
The chaotic and conflicting emotions deep within her made Asina feel extrely uncomfortable.
She didn’t want this... didn’t want it...
Asina’s reaction was fully visible in Saint Monica’s eyes. Lord Sect Master’s vision was incredibly sharp; she saw right through Asina’s thoughts, and her eyebrows knitted slightly:
"Asina, don’t tell that after spending so much ti with Qin Chu, you have developed feelings for that man."
"Ha?" Saint Monica’s words elicited a strong reaction from Asina. Her head shook as violently as a rattle-drum: "Lord Sect Master, what nonsense are you talking about? How could I possibly fall for Qin Chu? You know very well the only man I care for is Jie Luo."
Saint Monica’s eyes narrowed as she stared at Asina.
That gaze made Asina feel as if all her secrets had been exposed, lending her an inexplicable discomfort.
Several seconds passed before Saint Monica withdrew her gaze: "That’s good then. Jie Luo... indeed was a very charming man. It’s a pity he died."
You old witch, could it be you’ve also set your sights on Lord Jie Luo?
Please, stop trying to appear younger. Accept your age. You could be Lord Jie Luo’s grandmother.
Asina comnted to herself internally... But why did Saint Monica say Jie Luo was a very charming man?
It made no sense at all.
Lord Jie Luo actually looked quite ordinary...
Seeing Asina’s strange expression, Saint Monica beca angered: "Asina, are you thinking sothing very disrespectful?"
"How could I? I’ve never thought that you’re old and completely unsuited for Lord Jie Luo," Asina quickly responded.
Saint Monica grew furious with Asina’s attitude.
She was, after all, the Church Venerable.
Couldn’t she at least be shown so respect?
Saint Monica decided not to quibble further with Asina over this issue, otherwise, it would never end.
She took a long breath and said, "Then, can you tell why? I can feel that you don’t want to kill Qin Chu..."
"To be precise, I don’t want to kill Qin Chu at this ti," Asina smartly clarified Saint Monica’s question.
"Qin Chu is the Hero, the hope. Although he’s not exactly a good thing, he led the Hero Team mbers to the frontlines and repelled a great number of demons in the first battle, lifting the flagging spirits of the Human Alliance."
"What do you think will happen if the Hero dies at this point?"
"Faced with the onslaught of demons, the Human Alliance would likely lose all fighting spirit and instantly collapse, unable to withstand the demons’ iron hooves."
"You wouldn’t have failed to foresee such a situation, would you, Lord Sect Master?"
Saint Monica nodded her head, signaling Asina to continue.
"Moreover, regarding the so-called oracle, do you truly believe it’s sent by the Earth Mother Goddess? Just to eradicate the hope of the entire Sky Do Continent?"
"How many years has it been since the Earth Mother Goddess Sect received an oracle? Hundreds of years, a thousand years?"
"If I may speak sothing blasphemous, does the Earth Mother Goddess truly still exist? Is the giver of our oracle truly the Earth Mother Goddess, and not so other entity?"
Saint Monica also felt sowhat helpless. Within the Earth Mother Goddess Sect’s Church, only Asina dared to utter such things. Saying sothing blasphemous was putting it lightly; so zealous believers might demand that Asina be burned at the stake if they found out.
After a brief silence, she spoke: "Well then, the assassination of the Hero, Asina, you don’t have to worry about for now. However, there is another task for you."
"Investigate Norma."
"Norma?"
"Yes, that woman..." Saint Monica’s eyes narrowed as she spoke: "When Karsas destroyed the Imperial City, Norma used a Super Order Magic, ’Earth Mother’s Anger!’"
"That is a spell that the Earth Mother Goddess Sect has lost for many years, existing only in records..."
"I hope you can find out Norma’s background, why she would use such magic, and whether there might be so connection between her and the Earth Mother Goddess Sect."
"For this task, you, being a mber of the Hero Team as well, are the most suitable."
Asina nodded her head; this task seed much more manageable: "I understand. However... it will require so ti, as there is another place I need to go to first."
After concluding their conversation, Asina left.
Watching the retreating back of Asina exit the door, Saint Monica still wore a gentle and tender smile on her face, her fingertips lightly caressing the desk.
Asina, Asina!
You’re right.
The Earth Mother Goddess hasn’t sent an oracle for thousands of years. Does She really still exist?
Is this oracle truly sent by the Earth Mother Goddess?
But then again... Does it really matter to the Earth Mother Goddess Sect whether it is She who sends the oracle?
What matters is, we have once again received the attention of a deity, the guidance of a God.
