The Demon Wolf was a very powerful race among demons, belonging to the Second Prince’s minions.
Contempt filled his eyes as if he was eager to see Candice torn to shreds and drenched in blood amid the demon onslaught.
But he hadn’t forgotten his master’s orders.
"Stop!"
Dorgo’s deep voice rang out.
The surrounding demons halted their movents, but still eyed Candice with malicious intent.
"Candice, Prince Luo ng allows you, a lowly creature, the honor of beholding his presence."
They were re beasts attempting to mimic the etiquette of human nobles... it was laughable.
Candice sneered inwardly but showed a look of utmost honor on her face, bowing slightly: "This is my privilege."
Under Dorgo’s lead, Candice entered the Seventh Prince’s palace.
The palace was large, but seed rather cramped for the Seventh Prince’s towering figure that stood dozens of ters tall. It was said that to construct a palace befitting his status, Luo ng had utilized tens of thousands of demons, countless of whom perished in the process.
That massive, bloated body still squeezed onto the throne... His seat was crafted to the specifications of the Demon King’s Throne, as if he was terrified others wouldn’t grasp his true ambitions.
The guy was as filthy as ever, reeking with a nauseating stench.
Candice placed a hand over her chest and bowed slightly: "Candice pays her respects to the Seventh Prince."
Prince Luo ng nodded slightly and waved his hand to dismiss the other subordinates before finally addressing the insignificant woman before him: "Candice, I, cough, cough, the Prince, just saved you, you know."
Candice nearly laughed out loud.
So he had arranged for a demon to attack her and then had other subordinates rescue her from danger, and now he was presenting it as a favor done for her? Did Luo ng really think such a shallow and simple ploy wouldn’t be seen through? Or did he spend all those hours just preparing such childish welco tactics?
If that was the case, Candice would have to lower her opinion of Luo ng once again.
Candice lowered her eyelids, concealing her violet eyes: "Thank you, Prince."
"It’s good that you’re grateful. Now, you’ve left the Oville Empire Imperial City to see specifically this ti, so I hope you bring sothing of value," Luo ng said, satisfied with Candice’s reaction, emitting a sound as heavy as thunder rolling through the palace.
"To report back to your highness..." Candice chose her words carefully: "This ti, I bring a deal for you."
"A deal?" Luo ng seed sowhat puzzled.
"Yes, your highness. I have my own channels for obtaining information; the whereabouts of Benson and Ronald were provided by a mysterious person," Candice stated.
Luo ng’s interest was piqued; eliminating Benson had significantly raised his status among the demons: "What are the terms of the deal?"
"This gentleman will continue to provide clues to assist your highness in capturing Ronald. However, as a return favor, he hopes that once Ronald is captured, you will hand him over, along with all the belongings on his person," Candice explained.
Luo ng’s brow instantly furrowed, his expression turning ugly. The idea of handing over a mber of the Hero Team he’d captured with great effort to soone else was displeasing to him.
Who does he think he is? Dark Witch Shaye?
"Of course, the gentleman assured that he will personally kill Ronald and that the honor of killing Ronald will still belong to the Prince," Candice added.
"How can I be sure he will actually kill Ronald and not take the opportunity to whisk him away?" Luo ng retorted.
"It’s simple. The gentleman seems to harbor deep hatred against the mbers of the Hero Team. If he really wanted to save Ronald, he wouldn’t need to inform the Prince of Ronald’s movents... In fact, he intended to kill Benson with his own hands last ti. But since it was the first deal, he elected not to insist on Benson being handed over, expressing that the first trade was proof enough of his sincerity," Candice explained.
Luo ng found Candice’s explanation completely sensible.
However, even if that mysterious person had demanded Benson, he couldn’t have handed Benson over... after all, he couldn’t defy the fearso Dark Witch.
Clearly, Luo ng was not content with simply accepting the deal outright; he pondered sothing, his sizable eyes suddenly fixating on Candice again, "That person must have already inford you of the intelligence, right?"
"Yes," Candice imdiately responded.
"Then, I trust my loyal subordinate wouldn’t conceal this intelligence from , correct?" Luo ng said with a sinister smile.
"Of course, if Prince desires to know, I can tell you right away," Candice nodded imdiately, to which Luo ng was overjoyed. However, Candice’s next words quickly darkened Luo ng’s expression.
"However, that gentleman also expressed that if he could not receive the remuneration he desires, he would refuse to cooperate with you in the future. He will not provide with any more intelligence, instead seeking collaboration with other princes."
This was hardly good news for Luo ng.
With so many princes in the Demon King’s lineage, the competition was fierce.
This ti, by virtue of the credit for killing Benson, Luo ng had stood out from the nurous princes, but his position was not secure. If that mysterious person were to collaborate with other princes, they could topple him at any ti, a scenario Luo ng was desperate to avoid.
Luo ng’s ambition was vast; he wasn’t content with being just a prince of the Demon King—he intended to be the next Demon King.
Candice’s words also stirred so dissatisfaction in Luo ng’s heart. Was this a threat to him?
"Who exactly is that person?"
"I apologize, Prince, but I do not know. That person is very secretive, and very strong. He always appears before without warning to give the intelligence, but as for his true identity, I have no clues whatsoever," Candice said sowhat apologetically.
Useless creature.
"However, that gentleman did say that Lord Luo ng is a genius graced by the heavens, smarter than anyone else, and the most intelligent of all princes, surely not capable of making such a foolish decision."
These words instantly brought a smile back to Luo ng’s face.
While that fellow’s threat was irkso to Luo ng, he certainly did have discerning eyes.
Luo ng also felt he was indeed the smartest among the many princes and princesses.
All his other brothers and sisters, besides himself, were a bunch of fools.
"He also said that Lord Luo ng is not only full of clever strategies but also possesses great strength and has the makings of a Demon King!"
Luo ng’s heart skipped a beat, his large eyes narrowing to slits, his fondness for the mysterious figure he had never t growing stronger; although but a filthy human, his judgnt was comndable.
"He indicated that, if possible, he wished to continue working with you, and did not want to seek other partners..."
"He is even willing to keep providing intelligence to help you secure the position of the heir to the Demon King’s Throne."
Luo ng’s breathing beca sowhat hurried.
Candice added fuel to the fire, "When we parted, he also said that the current Demon King is simply too useless now, having lost the vigor of the old days and should voluntarily step down from the Demon King’s position, in favor of the more capable Lord Luo ng."
He felt increasingly in tune with that mysterious individual’s sentints; he too felt that his father, the current Demon King, had beco increasingly ineffectual, locking himself in his laboratory without a clue as to what he was fumbling with, not at all concerned with the grand undertaking of the demons’ conquest of the Sky Do Continent, and completely unworthy of continuing to sit in that position.
Of course, he was very clever; such words were absolutely not to be spoken aloud.
"He is even willing to exert all his efforts to help you topple the reigning Demon King and ascend to the Demon King’s Throne."
Luo ng’s heart thudded, a wave of heat inexplicably washing over him.
"However, I felt his words were too rebellious, so I took the liberty to turn down the offer..."
Damn it, who gave you the permission to reject it?
Luo ng was on the verge of roaring out loud.
