Nathaniel Gallagher stared at the swirling liquor in his glass.

After a few seconds of silence.

A look of calculation flashed in his eyes, but he deliberately lowered his voice, with a hint of hesitation: "Actually... there’s not completely no way, I’m just afraid it might wrong you."

Evelyn Thorne imdiately leaned in, grabbing his arm and asking, "What might wrong ? As long as I can help you, I’m not afraid!"

Nathaniel Gallagher gently caressed the back of Evelyn Thorne’s hand with his fingertips, his tone softer yet undeniably guiding: "There’s sothing else, maybe it can help us get a hold on the Grant Family, but I need you to help one more ti."

Evelyn Thorne imdiately looked up, her eyes filled with urgency: "Tell ! As long as I can help you, I’m willing to do anything!"

Nathaniel Gallagher moved closer to her, his voice so low it was almost in her ear: "Doesn’t your dad often attend various events with Julian Grant’s father, Mr. Ford?"

"Next ti you have the chance to go with him, can you put this in your father’s bag or on him?"

As he spoke, he took out a small black device the size of a fingernail from his pocket, its shell glinting coldly, "This is a miniature eavesdropping device. It can record his conversations with others."

"To tell you the truth, I’ve backed into a corner. The only way is to bring down Julian Grant’s father. Only then can I rid myself of this threat once and for all."

Evelyn Thorne’s pupils dilated, hesitating, afraid to take it.

Even if she was foolish, she knew this was an extrely dangerous thing.

If things went wrong, her father might fall with them.

"Mr. Gallagher... I..."

Nathaniel Gallagher wrapped an arm around her waist, his tone laced with ambiguity and coaxing, "Don’t call Mr. Gallagher, call by my na."

Evelyn Thorne’s mind went blank, looking at his incredibly handso face, her heart a tangled ss.

"I... I’m worried..."

Nathaniel Gallagher smiled warmly, brushing close to her earlobe, "Silly, I know what you’re worried about. Let be clear, my target is to bring down Leo Ford. I won’t touch anyone else."

"And your father? Who knows, maybe he’ll beco my father-in-law soday. How could I allow any mishaps with him?"

Evelyn Thorne’s heart quivered, staring into his eyes with half-belief, "Are you... are you really willing to marry ? What about your wife?"

Nathaniel Gallagher gently pinched her chin, his thumb stroking her lips, his gaze full of gentle deceit: "Don’t worry, I’ll settle her. I’ll give her a big allowance to live abroad."

"Will she agree?"

"Even if she doesn’t agree, I’ll persuade her to."

As he spoke.

He leaned closer, his warm breath brushing her cheek: "The one I truly want to marry has always been you. You have the background, the brains, and you’re sincerely willing to help . You’re so beautiful, marrying you would be the fortune of several lifetis."

He really lied without blinking an eye.

He would never betray Eleanor Churchill.

Even Josephine Thompson couldn’t shake Eleanor’s place in his heart, let alone her.

Every ti he thought of Eleanor Churchill shielding him with her frail body from over thirty stabs.

He couldn’t betray his conscience.

Nathaniel Gallagher was indeed scum, deceitful, venomous, and ruthless enough.

But if he weren’t ruthless enough, he’d be the one who falls.

If he weren’t venomous enough, the Gallagher Family would have long been devoured by wolves.

No one else was in his shoes.

How could they empathize? How could they understand his situation?

Seeing Evelyn Thorne’s hesitance fade, he pressed harder, his tone more sincere: "Once I bring down Leo Ford, Julian Grant will lose his support and won’t dare trouble anymore."

"By then, I’ll divorce Eleanor Churchill, and marry you with grand ceremony, making you the most elegant Mrs. Gallagher in Audenburg."

"..." Evelyn Thorne stared at him blankly, her heart in chaos.

If he truly was willing to marry her.

Then helping her own husband was unquestionable.

She naturally wouldn’t allow anyone to plot against her husband.

"Nathaniel, you... you won’t be lying to , right?"

Nathaniel Gallagher smirked, placing the eavesdropping device into her hand, gripping it tightly: "Now, it’s just this last step. As long as you put it in your dad’s bag and record his conversation with Leo Ford, we can get dirt on Leo Ford. Once it’s done, we can be together as planned, no longer suffering these grievances."

Evelyn Thorne’s palm tightened around the eavesdropping device, but the words "Mrs. Gallagher" acted like a hook in her heart.

She looked at Nathaniel Gallagher’s handso face.

Recalling his previous promises, she finally gritted her teeth, gripping the device tighter: "Alright... I believe you. I’ll find a chance to put it in my dad’s bag."

Nathaniel Gallagher imdiately smiled, planting a soft kiss on her forehead, his tone full of indulgence: "I knew you understand best. Once we’re married, I promise you won’t regret today’s choice."

Evelyn Thorne’s cheeks flushed, leaning into his embrace, completely unaware of the cold glint that flashed in his eyes.

To achieve his goal, he was willing to stop at nothing.

This had always been his way of doing things.

"Nathaniel... do I get to be with you tonight?" Evelyn Thorne, dizzy with desire, lifted her eyes for a kiss.

Nathaniel Gallagher hesitated for two seconds before gently kissing her.

"Nathaniel Gallagher, don’t ever disappoint . For you, I even disregard my father’s safety..."

"Rest assured, I certainly won’t disappoint you."

"Nathaniel..."

Nathaniel Gallagher appeased her with a kiss, then tily pushed her away.

Afterwards, he walked to the liquor cabinet and opened a bottle of whiskey.

"Let’s have another drink to spice things up."

Evelyn Thorne was already restless from his teasing, "I don’t want to drink."

During this ti.

She had been focused on Nathaniel Gallagher, and hadn’t visited any male models for a while.

She had always had a big appetite, unable to hold back anymore.

"Just one more drink." Nathaniel Gallagher handed the drink to her.

"Then feed !"

"Haha, alright."

Evelyn Thorne coquettishly teased, "Feed with your mouth."

Nathaniel Gallagher paused, then smiled indulgently, "Okay."

Soon.

Evelyn Thorne had another glass of whiskey.

"So hot..."

"Nathaniel, you absolutely can’t refuse !"

"How could I?" Nathaniel Gallagher scooped her up and walked towards the cabin.

Today, without giving her so real advantage, it’d be hard to fool her.

Entering the room.

Nathaniel Gallagher laid her on the bed.

"I’m going to take a shower."

"No, no need to shower..." Evelyn Thorne couldn’t wait, flipping over to straddle his waist!

"No, I’m all sweaty, it’s uncomfortable not to shower."

"Be good and listen, I’ll be back soon." Nathaniel Gallagher insisted as he got up.

"Then hurry back."

"Mm, alright."

The room was dimly lit, with just a little light.

Evelyn Thorne, intoxicated by the high alcohol content.

She gradually beca dazed, half-drunk.

After Nathaniel Gallagher entered the bathroom.

Inside the bathroom.

A handso man resembling Nathaniel in physique and appearance was already waiting, "President Gallagher."

Nathaniel Gallagher looked stern, "Go ahead, don’t let him detect any flaws."

The handso man looked respectful, "Please rest assured, President Gallagher."

After speaking.

He wrapped a towel around his waist and walked out.

This was the double that Nathaniel Gallagher had found.

Not only did he look and style his hair incredibly similar, but he also received strict training to mimic the voice and mannerisms.

Under the dim light.

The average person absolutely could not tell who was who.

Before long.

Outside the bedroom, the sounds of intimacy between a man and a woman began to echo.

From the sound.

Evelyn Thorne seed very satisfied and quite fond.

Nathaniel Gallagher let out a cold chuckle and exited through the hidden door.

Reaching the deck.

He lit a cigar and took a leisurely puff.

Won like Evelyn Thorne.

He found them dirty.

Naturally, he could never touch her.

Of course.

The double he found was in no way inferior to him, Evelyn Thorne would be satisfied.

"President Gallagher, the backup speedboat is ready."

"Hmm."

Nathaniel Gallagher said no more, then boarded the backup speedboat from the yacht.

The speedboat cut through the sea, the spray glistening coldly in the night.

Nathaniel Gallagher leaned against the side of the boat, the cigar in his fingers glowing with a dim red light.

Amidst the swirling smoke, there was no warmth in his eyes, only the coldness after calculation.

The phone vibrated, it was a ssage from the double: "President Gallagher, completed. She didn’t suspect anything and is now sound asleep."

Nathaniel Gallagher glanced at the ssage, casually deleted it, and tapped out a line on the screen to his special assistant: "Keep a close watch on Evelyn Thorne, see when she puts the bug in her father’s bag. Also, check Leo Ford’s recent itinerary, especially his private etings with Mr. Thornton."

The assistant replied imdiately: "Understood, President Gallagher."

...

An hour later.

Audenburg University Hospital.

Eleanor Churchill had been transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward after more than half a month of treatnt and resuscitation.

Nathaniel Gallagher got off the speedboat and had the driver take him directly to Audenburg University Hospital.

When the car stopped.

He didn’t rush to get out but straightened his collar inside the car.

From the back seat, he took a thermal container that had been prepared in advance. Inside was pigeon soup he had specially requested from his private chef, recomnded for postoperative recovery.

Upon pushing open the ward door.

Eleanor was leaning against the headboard reading a financial magazine, sunlight streaming through the glass, giving her pale face a bit more vitality than in previous days.

Upon hearing the noise.

She looked up at the doorway, her eyes softening instantly at the sight of Nathaniel Gallagher: "Why are you here? Didn’t you say you had a project to attend to today?"

"The project’s not urgent, I wanted to see you first." Nathaniel Gallagher walked to the bedside, setting the thermal container on the bedside table.

He then reached out to feel her hand, which was warr than last ti, "Dr. Sterling said you can drink so soup today. I had the kitchen prepare pigeon soup for you to try."

He opened the thermal container, carefully served a warm bowl of soup, blew on it gently, and handed it to Eleanor.

Eleanor accepted it, sipping slowly, her gaze constantly on him, softly asking, "You have red veins in your eyes. Have you been staying up late again?"

Nathaniel Gallagher sat in the chair beside the bed, lightly caressing the back of her hand with his fingers, speaking gently: "No, just been a bit busy lately. But I’ve been resting well. Please, don’t worry about ; focus on getting better."

He didn’t ntion his maneuvers with Evelyn Thorne, nor speak of the troubling mainland project.

And Eleanor sensibly didn’t bring up his etings with Josephine Thompson.

After all...

Which man doesn’t stray from ti to ti?

She’s now officially Mrs. Gallagher.

When he ets with Josephine, she considers it rely calling for companionship.

Eleanor put down the soup bowl, reached out to grasp his hand, her fingertips slightly trembling: "Nathaniel, I know things aren’t easy for you out there, but don’t overwork yourself. Money and career are important, but your health is more so. I don’t want to see you ruin yourself for these matters anymore."

Nathaniel Gallagher looked at the worry in her eyes, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly, he tightened his hold on her hand: "I know, don’t worry, I’ll take care of myself. Once you recover, we’ll go to Vessia for a while, away from everything troubling."

Eleanor lightly nodded, resting her head on his shoulder, her voice soft: "Alright, I’ll be waiting for you. By the way, how’s the new energy project you ntioned last ti?"

Nathaniel paused, answering plainly: "Nothing much, it’s temporarily on hold. We’ll restart it when there’s an opportunity. Don’t worry about it, just focus on recovering."

He didn’t want Eleanor to know about Julian Grant’s interference in the project.

Back then, she got hurt protecting him; now, all the more, he didn’t want her to worry about his affairs.

They sat quietly for a while, and Eleanor gradually started to feel drowsy.

Nathaniel Gallagher adjusted her pillow, watching as she closed her eyes and fell asleep before quietly getting up.

As he walked to the door.

He glanced back at the person on the hospital bed, a hint of determination reflected in his eyes.

No matter what it took.

He had to protect Eleanor Churchill and their current peace.

Anyone in the way, he wouldn’t spare a single one.

Exiting the ward.

He took out his phone and sent a ssage to his special assistant: "Speed up checking Leo Ford’s itinerary. Also, have Dr. Sterling keep a closer watch on Eleanor’s health. Report any changes to imdiately."

After sending the ssage.

Nathaniel Gallagher put away his phone, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the edges of the phone case.

On the screen.

There was still a picture saved from when Eleanor was last awake in the hospital. In the photo, she smiled gently, her eyes filled with reliance.

He took a deep breath, suppressing the emotions rising within, and turned towards the elevator.

As soon as he reached the corridor’s corner, he ran into the nurse who was there to change the dressing.

Seeing him, the nurse nodded politely: "Mr. Gallagher, Mrs. Gallagher slept well last night, her blood pressure and heart rate are very stable. Dr. Sterling said we could observe for another week, and if everything’s fine, she can be discharged and continue recovery at ho."

"Got it, thank you for your hard work." Nathaniel Gallagher nodded, his tone unusually warm. He paused, adding, "If my wife wakes up and wants sothing to eat, just tell the kitchen. I’ve already inford them."

The nurse acknowledged and left.

Nathaniel Gallagher stood still, looking in the direction of the ward, the hardness in his eyes gradually softened.

To him.

Eleanor Churchill was not only his wife but also his only vulnerability and armor in the treacherous business world.

When she took those over thirty stabs for him back then, it already tied half of his life to her.

He could plot against Evelyn Thorne and be ruthless towards Josephine Thompson, but Eleanor Churchill must not suffer any indignity.

Downstairs at the hospital.

The driver was already waiting beside the car.

Nathaniel Gallagher got into the car, rubbed his temples, and said to the driver: "Back to the company."

The car started moving.

He leaned back in the seat, closed his eyes, and began to review the plan in his mind:

As long as Evelyn Thorne planted the bug in her father’s bag, he could leverage the evidence against Leo Ford.

Without Leo Ford’s support, Julian Grant was nothing more than a rootless duckweed, not a threat. Once these troubles were settled, he would take Eleanor to Vessia to live a peaceful, contention-free life for several years.

The phone vibrated again, another ssage from his special assistant: "President Gallagher, I’ve found out that Leo Ford will et with Mr. Thornton tomorrow afternoon at the ’Cloud Top Teahouse’ to discuss cooperation."
