Josephine Thompson felt her heart tighten.

She struggled to suppress the emotions swirling within her and retrieved Henry Gallagher’s examination report from the children’s hospital.

She diligently reviewed it several tis.

Unfortunately, she wasn’t a doctor and couldn’t understand many of the professional terms.

"Ruby, I’m going out for a while. Cancel all the arrangents for this afternoon."

Ruby looked shocked, "President Thompson, where are you going?"

Josephine Thompson had already briskly walked out of the office.

She imdiately contacted the Thornton Family’s private physician, Dr. Carter.

Dr. Carter had watched her grow up, having practiced dicine for thirty years and serving as the Thornton Family’s private physician.

...

Four o’clock in the afternoon.

Josephine Thompson went personally to Dr. Carter’s ho.

"President Thompson, why did you co in person? If you’re not feeling well, just call , and I’ll co over."

Josephine Thompson wasn’t in the mood for small talk and directly handed over Henry Gallagher’s dical record: "Uncle Carter, could you take a look at this? This is Henny’s diagnosis result. The pediatric chief doctor said it’s acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Can you check if there’s anything amiss..."

Dr. Carter took the report.

He adjusted his glasses and carefully reviewed the dical record.

From various examination data to dication records, he looked over it very slowly.

After a few minutes.

Dr. Carter’s brows gradually furrowed.

When he reached the final page of the bone marrow biopsy report, he suddenly exclaid, "Hmm," his finger pointing to one of the indicators: "This ratio of immature cells is incorrect."

Josephine Thompson’s heart leapt to her throat: "What do you an?"

"For patients with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the ratio of primitive and immature lymphocytes in the peripheral blood should be over 20%."

"But this report only shows 3%, and several other key indicators also have abnormalities."

Uncle Carter raised his eyes to look at her, his expression serious, "This doesn’t seem like the symptoms of one person."

"It looks more like several people’s symptoms pieced together."

"Look at this data discrepancy; it’s clearly the values of two people. This dical record, although very professional, does indeed show leukemia symptoms."

"But when you carefully match each examination, there are still a few points that don’t add up. Even for a professional doctor, if they don’t look closely, they wouldn’t be able to tell."

Bang!

Josephine Thompson’s mind exploded; she nearly couldn’t stand steady.

"...Are you saying? This is a fake diagnosis result, isn’t it?"

Dr. Carter hesitated for a few seconds, still carefully saying, "Based on the diagnosis results, it’s real. It fits the confird symptoms of acute leukemia."

"However, there are two or three pieces of data that have anomalies. It doesn’t quite seem like the symptoms from the sa person."

Josephine Thompson felt a pang in her heart, "So it can be basically confird as fabricated, right?"

Dr. Carter adjusted his glasses again, answering even more cautiously, "... Uh, President Thompson, why not have a more professional hospital do a comprehensive examination for the young master?"

He could see the problems in the diagnosis docunt.

But he didn’t dare speak the truth.

Audenburg University Hospital and the children’s hospital, such large institutions, couldn’t possibly make such a low-level mistake.

Clearly, soone had instructed the doctors to do this.

And the person capable of directing the doctors was obviously President Gallagher.

Thus, he didn’t dare spell it out too clearly.

One has to be clever and be cautious, avoiding unnecessary trouble.

Although the doctor wasn’t too blunt.

Josephine Thompson had already heard the unsaid words, coupled with the insinuations from Eleanor Churchill.

She had basically guessed it.

"Alright, I understand."

Dr. Carter was very cautious, "President Thompson, is there anything else?"

"No more." Josephine Thompson, feeling as lifeless as dead ash, walked out with heavy steps.

"Take care when you leave, and if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to instruct ."

Josephine Thompson didn’t say much more, driving away with a heavy heart.

On the way back.

Her heart felt as if being torn by several large hands, aching to the point of suffocation.

Nathaniel Gallagher had deceived her again!

She really couldn’t understand why he liked lying so much?

Ti and again, he set traps for her, causing her imnse harm.

Even now, he wouldn’t let her go, still coaxing her, fooling her, playing with her!

"Beep beep beep..."

Josephine pulled over, imdiately dialing Nathaniel Gallagher’s number.

The phone rang a few tis, then.

Nathaniel Gallagher answered, "Hello, Josephine."

Josephine felt as if she were in an icy cavern, her hand on the phone uncontrollably shaking.

She took several heavy breaths, forcefully suppressing her hatred, "Nathaniel, what are you doing?"

Nathaniel paused, asking back, "What is it? Did sothing happen?"

"...No, it’s just that Miss Churchill ca this afternoon to give your wedding invitation."

Boom!

Nathaniel felt a pang in his chest, unable to speak for a while.

Josephine controlled her emotions, smiling lightly, "Yes, I looked at the date, your wedding is set for next Friday, right?"

Hearing her calm and gentle tone.

Nathaniel breathed a slight sigh of relief, speaking painfully, "Josephine, I am truly sorry."

"In this lifeti, I’ve done you a disservice. If there is a next life... I will surely make it up to you!"

Josephine heard this, her heart feeling as if sliced by a knife.

She held back tears, speaking in a softer tone, understanding and considerate, "It’s okay, I understand your difficulties and realize you had no other choice."

Nathaniel almost let his tears fall, "Josephine, hearing you say that, I am truly comforted."

"I love you too, and separating from you isn’t because I don’t like you. It’s because... because I can’t disappoint Eleanor, I can’t break the promise I once made to her."

Josephine smiled faintly, "I know, you don’t need to say anymore."

"I sincerely hope for your happiness with her, wishing you both a joyful wedding, a lifeti together. Next Friday, I happen to be available, I will personally attend your wedding. I will send my most sincere blessings and gifts, as a token of my heart."

"..." Nathaniel was truly incredulous.

He couldn’t believe she would actually bless him?

"Josephine, don’t pretend to be strong, I know you’re hurting inside, you don’t need to co."

"I feel even if I’m married to Eleanor, I will still take care of you and help you. Anything you need, you can co to anyti."

Josephine: "Mmhmm, I know, I am really grateful for your care and help. Without your assistance, the antiques lost by the Thornton Family wouldn’t have been recovered."

"Moreover, you are my ex-husband, and also the father of the child. I still wish for your happiness, hoping we can coexist peacefully."

Nathaniel was touched almost to tears, his eyes stinging significantly, "To hear you think this way, truly makes everything I’ve done worth it."

She was so understanding, could comprehend his lack of choices.

He was truly happy.

He even began to fantasize about a harmonious life together for the three of them in the future.

He loved Eleanor Churchill, and he loved Josephine Thompson.

He couldn’t give up on either, and if the two could compromise and coexist, his life would be perfect.
