Just as the freshn were starting their online PK matches, so veterans in the adjacent training ground happened to be on leave.

During their leave around this ti each year, they would all use the military terminal to secretly watch the students compete.

To soak in the vibrant, youthful atmosphere, you ask? Of course not. They were just looking for a good laugh.

Finding so amusent in their monotonous, day-to-day lives wasn’t easy.

For instance, in this dorm room of eight, one young instructor was off in the Gravity Room remotely guiding the freshn’s PK matches, but the other seven were all lined up in front of the projection screen, excitedly watching the competition.

"Co on, look at this one. I bet they can at least make it to the middle of the field—"

"Pathetic. They couldn’t even make it to the middle."

"How about this one? Think they can last fifteen seconds?"

"I doubt it. Just look at how long it took them to link with their chas—neither of them is strong." That ant it would all be over after a light tap or two.

But to everyone’s surprise, the match actually dragged on for a very long ti.

The two contestants had spent ten minutes just linking with their chas. Then, it took them another full ten minutes to lumber their massive fras across the one or two hundred ters from the entrances to the center of the field.

"..."

The most ridiculous part was, after all that buildup, right as they were about to finally et, neither could hold out any longer. Both chas collapsed, ending the match in a draw.

It really left everyone... speechless.

Everyone was having a good laugh at first, but as they kept watching, one of them turned to the training instructor. "How co there are so many this year who can’t even manage to fight?"

The instructor grunted. He was ranked 58th among the instructors, a mid-tier position, and was in charge of class B53. This class... well, how to put it? It was completely different from what his predecessors had led him to expect.

"I don’t know why, either. Even though their ranks were all determined by the testing stone, I feel like their spiritual power just isn’t as strong as it used to be..."

"Plus, linking with a cha is especially hard for them. So of them have the spiritual power, but their physical conditioning is just terrible. They can’t handle the strain from the cha’s gravity at all."

’This wasn’t good news. Had the quality of students at Federation University dropped, or was the younger generation of cha Soldiers getting weaker across the board?’

They had no way of knowing.

Without large-scale data to back it up, it was impossible for them to properly analyze the situation.

Just as the mood in the room soured, Jiang Qiuqiu’s match ca on.

The instructor didn’t know why everyone had suddenly fallen silent, but seeing a top prospect appear on screen, he spoke up. "But they’re not all getting worse. There are so good ones in Class A. I heard this freshman is an evolutionary-type cha Soldier with incredible potential. She’s only nineteen, and she’s already jumped from B to A."

"Old Eight is her instructor. According to him, even though it’s her first ti piloting a cha, she has excellent compatibility with it."

"She moves effortlessly in the virtual space, and she can even run in a real cha after linking up. Her talent is extraordinary."

"!"

"First ti in a cha, and she’s not one of the nobles!?"

"I heard they released her file. She isn’t. Just a commoner."

’A commoner like that was a rare sight indeed.’ Instantly, all eyes were on Jiang Qiuqiu.

Just as the instructor said, watching Jiang Qiuqiu PK was like watching an adult fight a child. She took down her opponents one by one with absolute ease.

Sotis, she’d throw a punch and her opponent wouldn’t even be steady on their feet yet.

She completely dominated her opponents.

The room was filled with gasps of astonishnt. They weren’t amazed that she had defeated her opponent, but by her Perception Ability and her control over the cha.

It was absolutely incredible.

"What’s her na?"

"Uh... I think Old Eight said her na is Jiang Qiuqiu."
