Chapter 672: 672. A handful of Xiaoye flowers_1
Wu Lan was being a matchmaker for the first ti and was so excited that she nearly missed breaking in ti during her driving practice that afternoon.
It wasn’t until dusk that she finally managed to head back ho, just as Tian Tian also ca back from the fields with a basket brimming with harvest.
Feeling a bit nervous, Wu Lan took a mont to rehearse what she wanted to say before approaching—But to her surprise, Tian Tian set down her basket and detoured toward Song Tan, who was idly riding Qiaoqiao’s rainbow tricycle.
It appeared Tian Tian had sothing to discuss. Seeing the distressed look on her face, Wu Lan guessed: Could it be that she wants to borrow money?
Aiyo!
If she borrowed money, it would be awkward for Wu Lan to proceed with her matchmaking! After all, it’s one thing to borrow money, but quite another to introduce soone to a potential match right afterward—how would Tian Tian decide whether to accept or decline?
Sun Ziqiang, who had just finished dousing his head and face with the water hose, also noticed the scene and caught Wu Lan’s slightly worried gaze. He seed to grasp the situation and his expression carried a hint of disappointnt.
However, Tian Tian was not there to talk about money; she’d co up with a new idea that afternoon—
“Song Tan.”
She was a little embarrassed: “I’m thinking of buying your marinade packs and selling tea eggs in the city center, do you think it’ll work?”
Song Tan squeezed the brake, looking at Tian Tian in amazent: “Selling tea eggs?”
“I’ve given quite a few of those marinade packs to Old Zhao at the vegetable market. Have you decided where you want to sell them yet?”
“I’ve thought it all through.” Tian Tian was inspired after eating that egg in the morning.
She did the math: working at Song Tan’s house, she could make 200 a day, but the eggs plus the cost of the marinade packs wouldn’t be more than two yuan each.
If she sold them for four yuan apiece, given the taste, it was certainly worth a try.
If she could sell 100 eggs a day, it would be much easier than manual labor. Moreover…
The taste of those tea eggs was just incredible!
She was still craving them even now.
Moreover, with such delicious tea eggs, she was sure that over ti she could definitely sell more than 100 a day!
Song Tan was aware that she supplied Old Zhao, but not in large quantities—a few hundred packs every couple of days, not even as much as online sales.
After all, one could boil twenty eggs in a pot at a ti; no matter how good the food is, you can’t eat it every day, and marinated eggs do fill you up quite a bit.
She didn’t take a nap at noon. Instead, she was chatting with old friends and even figured out where she could set up a stall.
“I plan to go to the city center every day, carrying a pot of boiled eggs with
to the vicinity of those hobby and cram schools. Near the cultural center, the gymnasium, there are either well-off kids or teenagers who get hungry easily… there’s definitely a market there,” she said.
Facing Song Tan, Tian Tian didn’t hold back the details, after all, her leaving ant one less person working in Song Tan’s family, so she had to explain clearly.
Song Tan, for her part, found it all very interesting.
Others had sold tea eggs made with their family’s marinade packs before.
Apparently, Old Zhao knew a single mother who used to sell scallion-flavored twisted rolls and also bought from him.
Moreover, Xin Jun’s family was a big custor as well.
But Tian Tian was working just that morning, tried the eggs at noon, and by the afternoon, she’d already co up with this idea… her drive and initiative were far beyond any others Song Tan had ever known!
Her mother was considering introducing Wu Lei to Tian Tian as a potential suitor, oh boy, they’d better not hold her back!
With the tens of thousands in debt, at the rate Tian Tian was going, she might be able to pay it off this year.
But…
“You’re being too cautious,” Song Tan looked at Tian Tian, disapprovingly: “Why not just buy a bunch of marinade packs and sell them wherever you want? Why tell
all these details?”
Tian Tian then felt sowhat embarrassed: “I heard that products from your family are so in-demand they need to be snapped up. Taking stock from you ans taking away a lot of your custors…”
Song Tan began to smile: “You’re still paying for them, aren’t you? We’re all from the sa village; would I sideline you, a custor, because of those outside?”
After thinking for a mont, she made another suggestion:
“You start by selling tea eggs, and if the business does well, then wholesale so drink cups and sell them with so refreshing tea.”
“You’d sell the tea to , too?”
Tian Tian was sowhat surprised—she had already thought about pairing it with tea, but Song Tan’s ho was running out of stock every day, and she was even buying spice packs; making a move for the tea as well seed too shaless.
Song Tan laughed heartily: “We’re never so short that we’d miss the ten or eight packs you take!”
Tian Tian let out a sigh of relief.
Then she promised, “I’ll let my brother handle the farm work. Once he’s done and back, would it trouble the teachers to start the classes then?”
“Sure, sure, sure,” Song Tan agreed readily.
Tian Ye’s grades weren’t bad, and besides, once you reach a certain level in English, all Yan Ran and the others could do was provide so guidance, point out the key difficulties, and that was about it.
In fact, according to Yan Ran, these siblings were just too honest!
Thinking of this, Song Tan glanced over at Sun Ziqiang, who was looking anxiously in her direction and couldn’t help but have a complicated expression:
“Still, you made your decision really quickly!”
It caught the matchmaker completely off guard.
Tian Tian gave a bitter smile: “My family’s in debt, and if I don’t figure out a way to make more money, who else can my family rely on?”
She looked at Song Tan, thinking: No wonder she’s capable. Even though she’s a few years younger than , she speaks with such steadiness and reliability, like an elder who has seen through the ways of the world…
Song Tan had no idea what Tian Tian was thinking; she just felt it was a pity—
Sun Ziqiang was truly a good guy.
However, Tian Tian was now so focused on earning money that she probably really wouldn’t agree.
While she pondered this, when she looked up again, Sun Ziqiang was nowhere to be seen—wasn’t he just in the courtyard?
Could he have gone sowhere to secretly cry?
But Tian Tian was completely unaware.
All she did was plan in her mind—selling tea eggs didn’t need much preparation; conservatively, she’d start with six spice packs on the first day of business.
Late at night, she’d head back to the village to collect so eggs…
Even though the local free-range eggs were a bit more expensive than regular ones, establishing a custor base was the most important for the first sale, and she wasn’t concerned about that extra ten or eight yuan.
Tian Ye still had more than half an hour of class left, so Tian Tian didn’t sit idle; she took the opportunity to wash the Yuxing grass by the outdoor water pool.
Just as she put the basket in the pool, Sun Ziqiang ca over, hands behind his back, hesitating.
“What’s the matter?”
Tian Tian looked at him curiously.
The next mont, in the privacy of this corner, Sun Ziqiang brought out a bouquet of flowers from behind:
“You…” he huffed and puffed for a while: “I don’t an for you to start dating
right away, I just want to tell you. Don’t feel pressured; we can shoulder anything together!”
As he spoke, he shoved the flowers into her arms, and seeing Tian Tian juggle them awkwardly, he also quickly turned red and ran away.
Tian Tian: …She hadn’t even said anything yet!
But looking down at the wildflowers in her hands—Pennisetum grass, cosmos, Xiaoye chrysanthemums, and others combined into a wild and charming bouquet—she sohow found herself at a loss for words again.
Without realizing it, her heart, originally heavy and sowhat anxious, suddenly felt uplifted.
