Chapter 116: 116. The Goose and the Dog, Dividing the World_1

Wow!

What a huge dog head!

Everybody was startled as well.

Only Qiaoqiao happily let go of Big White and then hugged Dà Wáng’s neck, “Dà Wáng, how did you get out?”

Ever since Dà Wáng was assigned the task of guarding the back mountain, he had been so diligent and loyal to his duty. Wu Lan and Song Sancheng, when they went up the mountain to check on the pigs, were always amazed by its sense of responsibility.

In the big bowl for eating, they had to add quite a bit more at.

Though under Wu Lan’s ticulous budgeting, this “quite a bit more at” wasn’t actually that much, their acknowledgnt was enough proof of Dà Wáng’s success.

Of course, for Dà Wáng, as long as it got its daily dose of Spiritual Energy, unless its forr owner struck it rich and ca to pick it up in a truck full of dog food, it wouldn’t go anywhere else!

It was so good here, with mountains, water, pigs, chicken, ducks, and even a goose; it could run freely, which was far more comfortable than being confined in the villa it lived in before!

However, because the patrol area had recently been expanded by an additional twenty mu, Dà Wáng was busy bustling about in the back mountain every day and rarely ca to the front.

Its appearance today had shocked everyone.

Such a big dog!

Everyone had only heard of it by na and hadn’t seen it. Just as they were about to ask more questions, they heard Sun Yanyan start to wail:

“Look, this is the dog that ate a tiger. We were almost killed…”

Dà Wáng, hearing familiar sounds, turned his head and bared his teeth at Sun Yanyan, then let out a roar:

“Woof!”

The sound was deep and oppressive. It wasn’t just Sun Yanyan who shivered; everyone present couldn’t help but tremble and felt a newfound reverence for the back mountain.

Mao Li, standing to the side, shuddered even more.

She was genuinely scared!

Who wouldn’t be afraid of such a big dog?

Her voice trembled with a cry, “Just imagine if it bit you, it could easily break an arm or a leg! We’re lucky to be alive!”

“It’s okay,” Song Tan hurriedly soothed the emotions of the mother and daughter-in-law, “Aunt, don’t worry, Dà Wáng is just a bit alert, but in reality, he wouldn’t bite down that hard all at once.”

Mao Li and Sun Yanyan looked at her in horror — not bite down that hard all at once?! So it would take just a couple of bites then!

Just as they were about to say sothing, they saw Dà Wáng struggle out of Qiaoqiao’s arms, then turn around, and dive back into the bushes to bring out an empty plastic crate.

That crate was quite large; it could hold fruit from the wholesale market, easily fifty pounds, no problem.

Song Tan exclaid, “Dà Wáng, where did you find this?”

She then asked Sun Yanyan, who looked uneasy, “Sister-in-law, I forgot to ask, how co you were in the back mountain?”

Everyone rembered the al that hadn’t reached their mouths, and now their stomachs growled even more.

Why were they in the back mountain?

Mao Li was sowhat at a loss for words—

How should she explain?

They had planned to gather more Milk Vetch, but right at the entrance was a large patch of farmland that had been plowed over, with scattered green leaves of unrecovered Milk Vetch showing through.

They had no choice but to settle for the second best and went to the vegetable garden to look at the Chinese cabbages.

The cabbages were left there; no one would take them away, but given Song Tan’s favoritism, since she said she would specifically pick locust flowers for her aunt, those locust flowers must definitely be of the sa quality as Milk Vetch…

So Mao Li and Sun Yanyan exchanged looks, understanding each other’s thoughts; they picked up the empty basket and headed up the back mountain.

Having lived in my hotown before, this place isn’t too unfamiliar, except… where are those two locust trees?

They said it was behind the mountain, but the mountain is pretty big. After turning a corner, first thing I saw was five pigs enclosed by a fence, all plump and starting to grunt at the slightest movent.

Sun Yanyan got excited imdiately, “Wow, Uncle’s family is raising pigs this year, we’re in for a treat at New Year’s, we don’t even have to buy at!”

With so many pigs being raised at ho, it would be inappropriate not to gift a pig leg, right?

The little chickens and ducks were fenced in the field, grazing on the leftovers, but now nowhere to be seen.

However, as they walked on, they heard a “honk” of a loud call.

Looking up, they saw a sturdy big white goose standing in the woods, its wings slightly open to the sides, looking vigilant and full of spirit.

Sun Yanyan jumped in fright, “Mom, they say a goose peck can really hurt!”

Mao Li dismissed it, “Scared of what? This goose is just scare talk; in reality, if it actually cos at you, you just grab its neck—”

Getting carried away, she gestured with one hand while holding the basket in the other!

However, as she raised her arm, Big White instantly sensed a threat.

Thus, the battle-crazed demon, Big White, who even dread of fighting the great king for three hundred rounds, now stretched its neck forward, plunged its body, and began to pump its wings—

“Honk!”

It let out a high-pitched cry and charged forward, then viciously pecked and twisted at Sun Yanyan’s calf—

“Ow!!!”

Tears burst out imdiately.

Mao Li, too, was startled by the aggressive lunging of the goose, and she quickly grabbed her daughter-in-law and pulled her forward while holding the basket:

“Quick, run! That goose is brainless, can’t understand human speech, aaaaah—”

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo fled in a panic, barely managing to clamber up the hill.

Seeing Big White back down below, Sun Yanyan only then started to feel the pain. With tears in her eyes, she looked at her now-red calf, filled with regret:

“Mom, had I known we shouldn’t have co up the mountain, we could’ve just asked Aunty to pick the locust flowers for us, right?”

Mao Li now saw things clearly, “We’re just not part of their family, see, they’re all doting on your aunt!

“We started by asking for asparagus; then we wanted locust flowers. If your dad gets embarrassed, he’s sure to be sulking…”

As they spoke, they looked up and saw a cluster of white and plump locust flower buds hanging right before their eyes, swaying with the wind amidst the green leaves, as if emitting waves of fragrance.

The produce from the back mountain holds so quality after all. Not to ntion anything else, just seeing how exceptionally plump those pigs are, you’d know.

No matter the resentnt, the sight of the locust flowers was satisfying.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law threw the basket on the ground, then without hesitation, they lifted their arms and started pulling at the branches.

But as soon as their hands touched the branches, they felt a tightness in their backs, as if sothing was watching them—

The two exchanged glances, then quietly turned around to look.

Behind them stood a huge dog, as large as a tiger, its body covered with yellow fur but with a stern black face, fierce teeth bared, eyes fixated on them, and a nacing growl coming from its throat…

The two won froze for a mont, but then they saw Big White not hesitating at all to open its mouth and start sprinting toward them!

In that instant, the sa thought flashed through the minds of both Mao Li and Sun Yanyan:

“The dog that fought a tiger.”

Aaaaaah—

What else to do but to run for their lives, aaaaaah!!!
