It wasn’t until the evening that Pei Ji’an was wheeled out of the ergency room, lying on the bed with his eyes closed. There were scrapes on his face and forehead, a bandage wrapped around his chest, and his pale complexion was heart-wrenching.

In the hospital room, Qu Fulan sat by his bedside, keeping watch over him.

It seed like in all the ti she’d known him, it was the first ti she’d seen him so vulnerable. Although the doctor said there was no danger to his life and he only needed so good rest, seeing him lying quietly as if he might disappear at any mont was unsettling.

"Little Qu, you have work tomorrow, and you’ve already been at the hospital all day. Go ho and rest well, and co back tomorrow. I’ll keep watch here," Assistant Cai said.

Assistant Cai himself was injured, not as seriously as the boss, but still a patient. Yet, he insisted on staying at his post, showcasing his dedication.

Qu Fulan tried to relax her expression slightly and said to Assistant Cai, "I’ll stay and watch over him. You’re the one who’s hurt; you should go ho and rest properly."

After so negotiation, Assistant Cai had to leave. Though he was an assistant and ticulous in his duties, sotis it was better for the girlfriend to take care of the injured person.

The Pei family wasn’t aware of the situation yet, so they hadn’t co to the hospital, per the boss’s instructions before he slipped into unconsciousness.

The old man had a weak heart, and getting upset about Jian’s car accident wouldn’t be good for him.

Not long after Assistant Cai left, Pei Ji’an woke up. At that mont, Qu Fulan was moistening his lips with a cotton swab. When she suddenly saw him open his eyes, she was initially stunned, then her eyes began to sting.

It felt like when you were a child and fell down and got hurt; if no one saw, you wouldn’t cry, but when soone did, you couldn’t help but cry. She had only felt heartache before, but now her nose was sour.

"How are you feeling? Should I call a doctor?"

Pei Ji’an only moved slightly, and the pain made him furrow his brows tightly.

Qu Fulan panicked again and hurried to get a doctor. He weakly grabbed her hand, "I’m fine, don’t worry..."

How could she not be worried? Seeing him, even his hand holding hers was bandaged, yet she dared not move carelessly. Injured like this, how could he be fine?

"Don’t lie to . I feel uncomfortable just looking at you. How can you not feel the sa? I need to get the doctor to check; maybe you need so dication."

In the end, they got the doctor to co and take a look. After various checks, the doctor said he just needed to take his dicine on ti.

Qu Fulan wasn’t reassured and asked about things the patient needed to pay attention to.

"It’s best to eat so easily digestible liquid foods in the near term. You can have so fruits as well, and there shouldn’t be any issues."

The doctor was amazed, having heard the car was smashed beyond recognition, yet the person survived. Surviving was one thing, but he didn’t lose any limbs or suffer critical injuries, indicating that President Pei knew how to avoid dangers during the accident. This kind of response ability was not sothing ordinary people had unless they were professionally trained.

The cause of the accident was now the police’s business.

After the doctor left, Qu Fulan first fed Pei Ji’an his dicine, then asked a caretaker to go to the hospital cafeteria to get so porridge.

Qu Fulan was worried he might be hungry, so she wanted him to eat sothing quickly.

However, when the caretaker brought the porridge, and she spoon-fed so to his lips, he just sniffed the aroma and shook his head.

Then it dawned on Qu Fulan that she was being too anxious. He was already picky about food, and coupled with the unpleasant hospital sll, it was normal he had no appetite.

She instructed the caretaker to buy so vegetables and at from a nearby market so she could cook personally.

The VIP room had a separate kitchen, which was quite convenient.

But even after Qu Fulan prepared the nutritious porridge without any fishy sll, Pei Ji’an only ate two bites before losing his appetite, which was understandable. Who would have an appetite after such severe injuries?

But not eating wasn’t an option. Fulan managed to coax and persuade him to eat a few more bites, then he couldn’t eat anymore. There was nothing she could do, after all, he was on a nutrient drip, so a few bites were better than nothing.

After eating, the injured eventually fell back asleep.

Qu Fulan also needed rest to take better care of the patient. There was only one bed in the hospital room; even if it could fit two people, Qu Fulan worried about the risk of infection, so she didn’t sleep on the bed. There was a sofa in the room that could be used for sleeping, but she worried that if she slept too far away, she wouldn’t hear any midnight needs he might have, so she asked the caretaker to help move the sofa closer to the bed before sleeping.

The caretaker didn’t need to stay overnight and had left.

But Qu Fulan couldn’t fall asleep. Ever since she learned about his car accident, she had been consud by fear.

Only at that mont did she realize how much she cared for Pei Ji’an, fearing anything might happen to him.

Worried about his condition, Qu Fulan didn’t sleep well. She might have dozed off but didn’t sleep soundly, frequently waking up to check how he was doing.

Having previously cared for her sick mother, Qu Fulan was adept at looking after patients, covering them with blankets at night, checking their forehead temperature—she could handle it all effortlessly.

Nurses would check on them during the night, but for so matters, it was better to supervise personally. That night, Pei Ji’an indeed developed a fever, making him delirious, as if he was talking in his sleep.

"Give... you..."

Qu Fulan had no idea what he was saying, so she quickly rang the bell for the doctor. They checked his temperature, and it wasn’t a high fever, just prescribed so dicine, and after sweating it out, the fever went down. Qu Fulan breathed a sigh of relief.

"I’ll have the driver take you ho for a good rest. We have enough people to take care of things here," Pei Ji’an said.

Qu Fulan shook her head, "I won’t be able to sleep even if I go ho, so I might as well stay."

That’s just how she was. Unless she didn’t care about soone, she would always be concerned. Before, when her mother was hospitalized, she was like this, only at ease to work when her mother’s condition stabilized.

And that night, Pei Ji’an didn’t have any other issues. But Qu Fulan was tense all night, and the next day she had to go back and rest properly. Otherwise, if she collapsed, it would only delay things.

She slept until the afternoon and prepared nutritious porridge at ho to bring to the hospital.

At the hospital, another male assistant was taking care of Pei Ji’an, mainly handling daily life matters. He might have arrived after her, and Fulan didn’t know him, but he seed efficient, as Pei wouldn’t keep anyone around who wasn’t.

Qu Fulan thanked the assistant for his hard work, then let him go. She fed Pei Ji’an half a bowl of porridge before he stopped eating.

"Still no appetite today?"

"Already full."

The patient is what matters most. If he says he’s full, she won’t insist. But the so-called "full" person still had a slightly uneasy expression, and Fulan couldn’t help but ask, "Is there sothing uncomfortable?"

Pei Ji’an’s expression beca more awkward, and after a pause, he still didn’t voice it.

Qu Fulan naturally wanted to get to the bottom of it, being that he was the patient. If sothing was wrong, he had to say it; how else would others know?

As she pressed him, Pei Ji’an was a bit embarrassed before speaking.

"It’s just that my body feels sticky and uncomfortable..."

So things didn’t need to be said explicitly to be understood.
