Finding soone at the airport isn’t an easy task.
Both sides looked for half an hour before they found each other.
Pei Ji’an, tall and long-legged, ca over and took the luggage and suitcase from Qu Fulan’s hands, turning what was a burden for her into sothing effortlessly light in his hands.
Aunt saw Pei Ji’an for the first ti and imdiately assud he was her niece’s boyfriend, praising his handsoness and maturity.
Pei Ji’an’s face looked calm, but the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. Seeing this, Qu Fulan lost the urge to explain.
"If you hadn’t moved just now, I would have found you much earlier." After getting in the car, he couldn’t help but ntion, "Next ti, if anything happens, just stay where you are, and I’ll find you."
Qu Fulan said nothing. She had intended to find a better spot but didn’t expect to miss each other so often, partly due to the crowded airport.
Because she was picking up her aunt, Mrs. Qu not only saw her sister but also saw President Pei. Though a bit surprised, Mrs. Qu didn’t ask much.
Qu Fulan instinctively breathed a sigh of relief. She was grateful her mother wasn’t the type to dig too deep; so things beco more complicated the more you try to explain them.
"Thank you." On the way back, she thanked him.
"It was nothing." He said, focusing on driving.
"Are you hungry? Let treat you to a late-night snack?" Qu Fulan thought it was only right to treat him to a al after he had gone to the airport late at night to pick her up.
Only after asking did she realize it was inappropriate. "I forgot that you don’t eat late-night snacks."
He didn’t just skip midnight snacks; his routine was precise to the minute.
"I haven’t had dinner yet." He said.
Qu Fulan looked at him in surprise.
...
Pei Ji’an entered her small apartnt once again.
Although it wasn’t his first visit, it was his first ti entering her apartnt at night since they broke up.
"Here." Qu Fulan handed him a glass of warm water.
He thanked her, took it, drank it in one go, and obediently sat on the sofa.
Qu Fulan noticed he seed tired and thought about how he should have been resting at ho after work, but instead, he went to the airport, driving all the way there, which was tiring.
"You sit for a while; the remote is on the table; I’ll be done soon."
She was planning to cook sothing herself.
Originally, she planned to eat out, but since she was working now and had most of her als outside, she didn’t want to have a late-night al outside too; making a midnight snack occasionally wasn’t troubleso.
He followed her lead, sitting on the sofa and resting with his eyes closed.
From the kitchen, Qu Fulan glanced at him; he seed quite tired, like he could fall asleep. The sofa he was leaning on was the sa one he had complained about not being soft enough when he lived there, specially ordered from abroad and shipped over, so soft and comfortable that sleeping on it was better than a bed.
After they broke up, she thought about sending the sofa away to be proud, but it was too heavy, and hiring a moving company would be costly. Plus, lying on it was truly comfortable, so she kept it reluctantly.
They didn’t have an irreconcilable breakup at the ti, leaving a couple of things behind was normal, otherwise, if everything was so cleanly split, they wouldn’t be on such friendly terms now.
Qu Fulan focused on cooking in the kitchen, and Pei Ji’an didn’t fall asleep. He opened his eyes and watched her busying in the kitchen, his gaze gradually warming.
Qu Fulan prepared three dishes and one soup. If she was alone, she would have simply cooked a bowl of noodles to finish. This was ant to be a little more elaborate to show gratitude; though to President Pei, it might not be worthwhile.
One plate of stir-fried snow peas with at, one plate of plain stir-fried greens, one plate of bean sprouts, and seaweed egg soup.
Compared to Pei Ji’an’s usual exquisite als, these were indeed trivial, but he ate earnestly.
"How’s the taste?" Qu Fulan asked instinctively.
She felt pretty good about it herself. After all, it was what she liked to eat; she just didn’t know if it suited him.
Back when they were dating, his routine was so strict, where could he have had midnight snacks? Even when he occasionally had dinner here, he cooked, so it was her first ti cooking for him.
"It’s fine, just a bit too much seasoning." He replied truthfully.
Qu Fulan pursed her lips. Wealthy people are so particular about health, emphasizing minimal oil and salt for light flavors.
She didn’t like bland food; occasionally was fine, but every day was too much; she felt she could go bland until she tasted birds, growing up preferring strong flavors.
Though he ntioned she used too much seasoning, he still ate two bowls of rice, leading Qu Fulan to believe he hadn’t had dinner; otherwise, he couldn’t have eaten so much.
After dinner, Qu Fulan put the bowls in the cabinet, "Let’s leave them here; I’ll wash them tomorrow."
Everyone has their own habits; she just doesn’t like washing dishes at night, thinking after a day’s work, she deserves rest and can wash them after resting, plus using the sterilizer later isn’t a big problem.
However, Pei Ji’an rolled up his sleeves, "I’ll do the dishes."
Qu Fulan opened her mouth, hesitated, and ultimately said nothing.
Who would refuse a free dishwashing service?
When it was about ti for him to leave, Qu Fulan thought about it being so late; if he insisted on staying for a night, she wouldn’t say anything.
But he took the initiative to leave.
Qu Fulan escorted him to the door and said goodbye.
Honestly, she liked this mode.
She wanted to experience the feeling of being pursued normally: the hard-earned pursuit, not easily coming together, without rushing to live together or demand benefits.
Most won like being cherished.
Being cautiously protected like precious jewels.
This ti, Pei Ji’an did well, at least in not being as overbearing as before, putting her feelings first.
There might still be so areas to improve, but no one is perfect.
Qu Fulan continued to be busy with her work. Though Pei Ji’an invested money, the project was done by her studio; otherwise, having people invest money and effort isn’t reasonable.
Having started a business ans so socializing is unavoidable; a man slightly older than her always spoke ambiguously, irritating Qu Fulan.
These days, many n with good conditions think all won should scramble after them.
To prevent further ambiguousness, when he repeatedly invited her to dinner, Qu Fulan brought Pei Ji’an over, without telling the ambiguous man beforehand.
When he saw them, the ambiguous man was stunned.
From height to looks to temperant, Pei Ji’an beat him completely.
The man’s self-assured expression turned into awkwardness, his face portraying complex emotions.
However, this was not the most amusing part. The amusing part ca when the ambiguous man’s girlfriend heard he was dining with another woman and brought a friend over to confront him.
Expecting to catch him cheating, but instead seeing her boyfriend awkwardly sitting alone while the man opposite him, who surpassed her boyfriend, was calmly peeling shrimp for a lady.
It wasn’t a catch, but they had arrived, so they joined in.
The girlfriend saw how Qu Fulan was thoroughly attended by that gorgeously handso man, evoking jealousy.
"I want shrimp too." She said to her boyfriend.
The man, upset his chosen target was taken, and the replacent was better, already displeased, was further irked by his girlfriend’s demands; he never served her before.
If it were for Miss Qu, such a beauty, he’d willingly do it.
But his girlfriend was just a college student; her advantage was being young, not comparable to Miss Qu.
"Can’t you peel them yourself?"
The woman’s expression instantly soured.
