Helen got on her computer and placed an urgent email to all current board mbers of Hawthorne Enterprises. An ergency board eting has been called by the owner of the company and majority stockholder Ed Hawthorne; everyone’s attendance is mandatory.

Within the hour, Ed and Carter Hawthorne walked into the main offices of Hawthorne Enterprises. They walked in through the front door and everyone stood at attention—whatever was going down was going to be big and very loud. Security rode to the top floor to the executive offices with the Hawthorns. Ed walked into the board room and noticed things had been moved around. In fact, his and Carter’s pictures were gone from the wall and in their place were the board mbers. Carter politely walked over to the wall and one by one took the cheap portraits and dropped them on the floor. Then he proceeded to walk across the fake paintings of these so-called board mbers.

The security mbers did all they could not to laugh—this was going to be a fireworks show.

Ed and Carter were sitting side-by-side at the head of the conference table. To his right was the stenographer; to Carter’s left was Helen, head of HR for the entire company.

As the group entered huffing and puffing, one said, "Who in the hell do they think they are calling a eting?" But you could hear a church mouse squeak when they looked up and saw Ed and Carter sitting at the head of the conference table. Helen stood up with her stack of folders, one addressed to each and every board mber. After they had a seat, she placed the appropriate folder in front of the corresponding board mber.

Ed stood up. "I’m the owner of this company. I have seventy-one percent of the company’s stocks and holdings. Zach Spinelli has twenty-five percent and I have his proxy, so the other four percent I guess maybe I’ll have—or does it belong to the employees of this company as I set it up? This board here was appointed, were appointed, and is now dissolved. There are no golden parachutes, no perks, no nothing. The security team here will escort you off of the property."

His voice grew stern. "This is not debatable. This is not anything. This is my company and I will damn well run it the way I see fit. The security crew here will see that everything is removed out of your offices and all personal property will be sent to your address on file in HR. You are never to enter any Hawthorne Enterprises holdings or company property. If you are found to be on any said such property any ti of the day or night, you are to be considered a criminal trespasser and you will be dealt with by the proper authority."

"We had co in here, Carter and I, to talk to the board about so irregularities that have occurred since we have been taking a little step back and working on so humanitarian projects, but like they say, when the cat’s away the rats will play," Ed continued. "A new board will be appointed by Carter and myself and they will be hand-picked for the betternt of the company. Good day, ladies and gentlen. There’s the door—don’t let it hit you where the good Lord split you."

One of the board mbers stood up. "You don’t have the authority for this! I’ll sue you!"

"JP, my legal team is already on it. You don’t have a leg to stand on and believe , you cannot outspend . So do yourself a favor—quietly fade away," Ed replied coldly. "We can keep this out of the news dia, nothing will be said, it would be nice and polite. But push and there will be nothing left for any of you. That’s not a warning—that’s a promise."

Ed was pissed. "Helen, get all departnt heads companywide. We’re going to do house cleaning because the rats have infested us."

"Yes sir, Mr. Ed. I’ll have those within thirty minutes, sir. And what shall I do with Anderson? He’s still in the office."

Carter stood up. "It’s about ti I got my hands dirty. It’s ti to take out the trash. Gentlen, follow . I’ll need four security officers."

Carter Hawthorne got off the elevator at the HR departnt with the four security officers and proceeded to go to the supervisor’s office. He walked in—there was so snotty-nosed twerp sitting behind Helen’s desk. "Excuse , are you lost? Because this is Helen May’s office."

"That’s where you’re wrong—this is my office. I don’t know who the hell you are, but get the hell out of here."

The security force walked in. Carter held his hand up to hold them. "Mr. R.C. Anderson, let introduce myself to you since you are, I guess, ignorant. My na is Carter Hawthorne. My husband and I, Ed Hawthorne, built this company from the ground up, and you are gone. Leave this office and your personal property will be shipped to the address on your employnt form. You are never to enter any Hawthorne Enterprises owned or controlled or held property. You are now terminated. Boys, show him out the door, because R.C., you’re fired. And due to gross negligence of your job, disrespecting the owner of the company, there is no chance in hell you will get any kind of severance—nothing."

The security team took Anderson out of the office to the elevator. The entire office staff stood up, clapped, and cheered. Carter was feeling a little bit green—typical hormones for pregnant Genn.

He stood at the back, looked out over the typing pool and other office personnel, and called their attention. "I have an announcent. I will be available usually by conference phone or computer emails, but due to a situation I am going to be a little bit reserved. And I’ll tell everyone right now, and you let the whole company know because I’m tired of hiding who I am. I am Carter Hawthorne; Ed Hawthorne is my lifeti mate. He’s not gay and I’m not gay—I am in fact a pure blood Genman. And in a little over eight months I will be having our first child together. Because this is my first and I’m kinda new at this, I would like to stay at ho and raise the child."

Carter’s voice grew warr. "We’ve relocated to our ranch—we are building a ho there. Ed will still commute back and forth from here. If anyone has any problems whatsoever, they’re to contact Helen because she will be leading HR for the entire company, every division, everything. I will be answering my emails, no problem, and if there is a problem I will videoconference anyone. Please respect our privacy at this point in ti in our lives as we welco a new mber into our family."
