Ashton pressed the issue. "But we won’t be able to know what really happened to you if we don’t test it again. Are you sure you can live without knowing the answer of why your lips, which were just busted and mangled earlier, suddenly healed themselves?"

Julian agreed imdiately. "Yeah, truly. We should check now to know if it’s your power awakening or sothing else. We can only be sure after you cut your hand and see if the wound heals."

Aiden shook his head firmly. "Julian, seriously, I’m a Witch, or let’s say I’m going to be a Witch, and from all I know, Witches don’t have supernatural healing."

"Then all the more reason we should test this," Julian countered. "We need to know if this is your power or if soone is deliberately ssing with you."

Finally, Aiden threw his hands up in resignation. "Fine. Bring the damn knife. Let’s test it."

He collected the knife from Ashton, his resolve hardening. He started to drag the edge across his palm, attempting to cut himself, but as he moved the knife, the wound was imdiately sealed. By the ti he had drawn the knife across the entire length of his palm and lifted it away, the skin was already completely healed.

Ashton beca instantly excited. "Oh my God, you’re a Fae!"

Julian countered, "Or more like a Wolf, a Dominant Oga, which ans Ryker’s mate."

Ashton turned to Julian, exasperated. "Oh, please. I don’t know if you’re Ryker’s mouthpiece today. Why do you keep hoping that Aiden should be a Dominant Oga and Ryker’s mate?"

Julian rolled his eyes. "Because I’m reasonable, and everything that has been happening to Aiden points toward him being a Dominant Oga."

Aiden interrupted them, feeling more confused than ever. "Hello, I’m not a Fae or a Wolf! I’m pretty sure that I’m a Witch."

Ashton and Julian fell silent, exchanging a weird look before turning back to Aiden.

"Aiden, you know what?" Julian said gently. "Witches can’t heal ourselves like that. So, even if you want to turn out to be a Witch that badly, what just happened ans that you are not a Witch."

Aiden desperately wanted to argue. He was truly a Witch. He still had his spirit animal, Rainbow, the bird that could only be contracted to Witches, right in his room.

That fact should prove his nature. But he also couldn’t explain why he was suddenly healing so quickly, so he had nothing to say. Besides, he couldn’t discuss the existence of Rainbow with both Ashton and Julian since he had promised to keep the bird’s secret.

Seeing that Aiden was no longer insisting on being a Witch, Julian and Ashton imdiately returned to their argunt.

"He is a Fae because only Faes heal as quickly as that," Ashton insisted. "He hadn’t even finished cutting his own palm, and it had already started healing! I’m telling you, Julian, when Wolves get injured—let’s say sothing cuts open their palm like that—they heal after, say, four or five seconds after the injury already happens. They don’t start healing while the injury is still happening. As a middle-grade bloodline Fae, my wounds heal instantly after the injury and don’t require any seconds. But I’m sure it’s only soone who has a high-grade bloodline like Aiden that can heal their own wounds before they even finished getting injured."

Julian shook his head stubbornly. "I truly believe and understand your logic, Ashton, but I also need you to understand my logic. Everything Aiden has told us about him and Ryker leads to the fact that Aiden is a Dominant Oga, which ans a Wolf. Maybe it’s because he’s a Dominant Oga; maybe that’s why he’s healing that quickly."

Ashton scoffed. "That’s a foolish theory, okay? I saw Ryker heal when he was fighting with Zane three days ago. I had a front-row seat to that fight, and Ryker definitely did not heal as fast as Aiden. And Ryker is a Dominant Alpha, which is supposed to be more powerful than a Dominant Oga.

The only one that heals as fast as Aiden is Zane, so Aiden is clearly a Fae—one as powerful as, or more powerful than, Zane."

Julian was speechless because he, too, didn’t know why Aiden’s healing process was that fast. However, his own words weren’t without logic, and he truly believed that Aiden was a Dominant Oga.

Julian finally looked at Aiden. "Then, Aiden, can you ask Ryker later when you see him if he’s your true mate? Ryker is a Wolf and knows better than us, so he should have noticed if he is your mate or not."

Aiden imdiately rejected the idea. "I am definitely not asking Ryker such a thing. Wouldn’t that make look desperate? And what if he says no? Wouldn’t that make embarrassed? I am definitely not asking him that."

Ashton quickly backed Aiden up. "I also think that Aiden shouldn’t ask Ryker that. If Ryker had felt the mate bond like you said and knew about it, then why hasn’t he said anything to Aiden? Why hasn’t he dissolved his ridiculous engagent to Seraphina to be with Aiden instead, since they both like each other? That ans that Ryker is definitely not feeling any mate bond and only likes Aiden normally."

Aiden nodded emphatically. "I’m not asking him."

"But you will never know," Julian pleaded. "You shouldn’t think about the embarrassnt and just ask what you want to know."

Aiden shook his head. "I really don’t want to ask, Julian. Please, can we finish the topic here? And also, please don’t tell anyone about my ability to heal being the first of my powers to manifest. I still want to figure out what’s going on first before I decide on telling anyone."

Ashton imdiately reassured him. "Of course, I’ll keep your secret if you don’t want us to tell anyone, okay? We’re your friends, and I will definitely keep your secret. Don’t worry, my lips are sealed."

Julian echoed the sentint. "Mine are too."

Aiden smiled gratefully at them. "Thank you so much."

Ashton looked down at his phone. "Oh my goodness, it’s ti for lunch! No wonder I feel my stomach grumbling."

Aiden rolled his eyes playfully. "Well, I didn’t hear your stomach grumble, Ashton. Julian, did you hear it?"

Julian shook his head. "I didn’t hear it either."

Ashton glared at the two of them. "Let’s leave this dorm and go eat, shall we?"

Julian relented. "Fine, fine, let’s go eat."

Aiden apologized. "I’m sorry, you two, but I don’t really feel like eating for now. I’m just feeling so sleepy that I can barely keep my eyes open." To make his story believable, Aiden faked a big yawn that even made his eyes water.

Julian gave in imdiately. "Well, have your beauty sleep then. I will bring back your lunch for you."

Aiden smiled and thanked him.

He then watched Julian and Ashton leave the dorm apartnt. As soon as the door closed behind them, Aiden shot up from the couch in the sitting room. He bolted to his room, closing the door behind him.

Inside, Aiden addressed Rainbow, who was still sprawled on the bed, fast asleep.

"Wake up! I have a crisis on my hands here. I don’t know what’s going on with !"

After a mont, Aiden gently nudged the bed to wake the bird up. Rainbow sat up and perched on Aiden’s pillow. The bird’s voice sounded in Aiden’s mind.

"Can’t a bird have his beauty sleep in peace? What happened now again? Why did you disturb ?"

"Rainbow, look at my lips!" Aiden exclaid.

"Apparently, I can heal myself now, and this is causing an existential crisis! I’m supposed to be a Witch since you’re contracted to , and only a Witch can have spirit animals. But I also know that Witches can’t heal themselves, but here I am, healing myself!"

"I thought sothing bad happened to you," Rainbow’s voice chirped inside Aiden’s mind, laced with obvious disdain. "The way you woke up all of a sudden. But it’s only that."

Aiden fixed a glare on the small, brightly colored bird perched nearby. "Rainbow, what do you an, ’it’s only that’?" he shot back, his voice thick with frustration and disbelief.

"I—a witch—am developing healing power! Sothing that should be impossible for . And you’re calling it only that?"

Rainbow’s voice, calm and utterly unimpressed, echoed in Aiden’s head once more. "You have the three races’ bloodline," the bird reminded him patiently. "The wolves, Faes, and witches. That combination shows on the test you took when you first reached this school. So, do your calculations."

Aiden fell silent, his eyes distant as he processed the information. He mulled over the implications, running through the genetic markers and magical properties he had learned about since arriving.

Then, the realization hit him like a physical blow.

He gasped. "Are you saying that I’m a Tribrid?" he whispered, the sheer magnitude of the term staggering. "Ashton had ntioned that previously that he thinks that I should truly be a Tribrid, and I thought he was talking rubbish. But I’m truly a Tribrid?"

Rainbow’s ntal voice carried a sigh. "Now that you have the answer to your crisis, can I go back to sleep now?"

Aiden wasn’t done yet. Not by a long shot. The truth had only led to a thousand more urgent questions. "Of course not," Aiden retorted instantly. "I still have more questions for you."
