Without realizing it, Shen Xinghui placed his hand on his stomach, where their child had taken root.

Ignatius watched him with overwhelming happiness.

The next morning, he woke up to an unfamiliar feeling.

The warmth of Shen Xinghui’s body was still there in his arms, but sothing was different.

Looking over, he saw Shen Xinghui sitting on the bed, his face pale, his hand pressed to his mouth.

"Ugh..."

"Shen Xinghui?"

Even with his groggy mind, Ignatius could tell that sothing was wrong.

Before he could even rise, Shen Xinghui groaned again and hurriedly got out of bed, rushing straight to the bathroom.

Ignatius, not understanding what was happening, followed after him.

Inside the bathroom, Shen Xinghui was suffering, vomiting.

Ignatius quickly rushed over and rubbed his back, but despite his efforts, Shen Xinghui’s pain didn’t subside.

He let out soft, painful groans, tears welling in his eyes as though there was still sothing left inside him.

"Midwife! Is Midwife here?!"

This was serious.

Shen Xinghui’s body was carrying their child—sothing could be terribly wrong.

Ignatius quickly draped a robe over Shen Xinghui, putting one on himself as well, and they hurriedly ran out.

Fortunately, the Midwife’s room was nearby.

Without even knocking, he threw the door open to find her relaxing in a graceful manner.

This was hardly the ti for that.

"Your Highness, what’s going on?"

"Never mind that, just co with !"

Ignatius supported Midwife’s body as he rushed back to the room.

He couldn’t stop thinking about how much worse Shen Xinghui might feel by the ti they got there.

Upon entering the room and rushing to the bathroom, he found Shen Xinghui collapsed, breathing heavily.

"Shen Xinghui!!"

The body he lifted was burning hot.

His cheeks were flushed, and he seed weak, lacking the strength to move.

He let out a groan, coughing as if he was still feeling nauseous, though nothing seed to co out.

The sensation of discomfort was sothing Ignatius could feel as well.

He lifted Shen Xinghui into his arms and carried him to the bed.

Laying him down with tearful eyes, Ignatius was overwheld with fear.

Shen Xinghui was suffering so much—it hurt to see him like this.

If this was caused by carrying their child, then perhaps it would have been better not to have wished for this.

What should he do?

If this were to endanger Shen Xinghui’s life, he wouldn’t know what to do.

In that mont, if he were asked whether he would choose to save Shen Xinghui or the child growing inside him, there was no hesitation.

Shen Xinghui’s life was more important.

The pain of that decision still cut deep, but if Shen Xinghui died, Ignatius knew he wouldn’t be able to live without him.

However, when Midwife examined Shen Xinghui’s body and found that the child was indeed inside him, she rejoiced.

But then, her next words left both Ignatius and Shen Xinghui completely confused

.

"It’s morning sickness. I’ll bring you so refreshing lemon water. Is there anything you think you might be able to eat?"

"Right now..."

"I’ll bring so fruit. Also, let set up a barrier around this room to block any slls."

"Slls..."

Shen Xinghui seed to recall sothing.

Indeed, earlier that morning, the sll of freshly baked bread had filled the air.

Shen Xinghui had said he liked freshly baked bread, and the house cook had eagerly made so for him.

Could that sll be the cause?

"How... long will this last?"

Shen Xinghui asked anxiously.

Although he was small and ate less than they did, he always ate well for a human, and Ignatius felt uneasy seeing him so weak.

Shen Xinghui loved food and cooking.

But Midwife responded nonchalantly.

"It will be gone in a day. By tomorrow, he should be feeling fine again."

"Just one day?"

No, that couldn’t be right.

The average pregnancy period for a dragonkin was seven months, and those who experienced morning sickness said symptoms lasted for about a month.

Nausea, loss of appetite, mild fever, and fatigue—these symptoms could last for up to a month and a half.

It was impossible for it to clear up in just one day.

"Midwife, I’ve heard that Dragon Man pregnancies last seven months, and that morning sickness can last about a month."

"Shen Xinghui has a skill level of 100 in God of Pregnancy and Fertility’s Blessing, and he also has the growth acceleration skill."

"Yes."

"That’s likely the cause. The child is growing rapidly and it seems that the baby has already grown for more than a month. At this rate, he should be born in about seven days."

"’...Huh?’"

Ignatius couldn’t comprehend what he had just been told.

He stared at Shen Xinghui, who was just as bewildered, his face filled with confusion.

Seven days seed far too soon.

"That’s... impossible, right?"

"Oh, I never lie. Even at my age, I am the most skilled healer in the country. I’ve never been wrong in my assessnts."

"Well, still... it’s hard to believe."

Indeed, Midwife was the most skilled healer in the Black Dragon family.

She had helped with nurous births across the land, having honed her craft over many years.

It was impossible for her to be mistaken.

Children were precious treasures of the kingdom, and when birth was rare, she had helped deliver babies for commoners, nobles, and even royalty.

A person with that much experience could not have made a mistake.

But still, seven days seed far too quick.

He didn’t want to say he wasn’t happy.

He was excited to et their child, but he wasn’t sure if his feelings of becoming a father would catch up with the reality of it all.

Even though he loved the idea of having a child, he wasn’t sure how to love the child properly.

He didn’t want to be confused about how to approach it.

Shen Xinghui was looking at him, his eyes filled with anxiety.

Seeing that, Ignatius scolded himself.
