Help! I'm in Another World and the Dragon Man Want Me To Get Pregnant! Chapter 44: New Beginnings at the Inn
"It’s no trouble. Are you hungry?" Henry asked kindly.
"No, not at all. I’m still full from the large lunch you gave ."
In truth, his stomach had only just settled from how much he had eaten earlier.
"Well then, how about joining us for so tea? We’d like to talk to you about sothing," Henry offered.
"Yes, of course," Shen Xinghui replied, sitting across from the couple.
Jenna moved closer to sit beside Henry, and the two smiled warmly as they poured Shen Xinghui a cup of tea.
The calming aroma and warmth of the tea settled his nerves.
"Xinghui, Jenna and I were just discussing sothing. If you’re willing, would you like to work here with us?" Henry asked.
Shen Xinghui stared at them in surprise.
He hadn’t expected such an offer.
Jenna smiled brightly and Henry’s gaze was steady and kind.
"This is just a small inn run by the two of us," Henry explained. "But we do get a good number of custors for als. Truthfully, we’ve been in need of an extra pair of hands. If you’re willing to help out, we’d be glad to have you."
"I... I don’t know," Shen Xinghui stamred. "I’m not very strong, and I’m not sure if I’d be able to do the job well."
He worried he might end up being more of a burden than a help.
However, Henry shook his head.
His calm, steady gaze had a way of quietly reassuring Shen Xinghui.
"No one gets it right the first ti, so don’t worry about that. You can learn as you go. Most of the tasks involve taking orders or carrying dishes, so there’s no heavy lifting involved. Do you have anything you enjoy or feel confident about?" Henry asked.
"I... I like cooking," Shen Xinghui admitted.
It was the one thing he felt he could do reasonably well.
Cooking, cleaning, washing—simple tasks like those were what he knew best.
"Oh, that’s wonderful!" Jenna exclaid, clapping her hands in excitent. "I’ve never had food from another world before. You’ll have to make so for us soti!"
Henry smiled gently at her enthusiasm and nodded his head in agreent.
"We’ll provide als and a place to sleep," Henry said. "You can also use so of my old clothes, although they might not be perfect. As for pay, it won’t be much, but you’ll receive a daily wage."
"That’s too much!" Shen Xinghui protested. "Just the als and a place to stay would already be more than enough."
"Xinghui, it’s not good to be too reserved or overly modest. It’s perfectly fine to rely on others when you need to. Besides, we’ll have you work properly, so just accept it," Henry said firmly.
Faced with such kindness and encouragent, Shen Xinghui couldn’t refuse.
He was, in truth, happy about the offer.
Working here ant he wouldn’t have to worry about his daily life, and he could even save a little money.
Most importantly, he felt far more comfortable working for Jenna and Henry than with strangers.
Feeling self-conscious under their kind gazes, Shen Xinghui blushed slightly.
He then bowed his head and spoke with sincerity. "Thank you very much. I’ll do my best."
Both Jenna and Henry smiled warmly, their expressions filled with joy.
The next day, Shen Xinghui began working in earnest.
It turned out the previous day had been the inn’s day off.
From early morning, the inn bustled with custors, mainly people stopping by before heading to work.
To Shen Xinghui’s surprise, nearly every custor reacted with curiosity to his presence.
That day was a whirlwind.
He dashed around taking orders, serving dishes, and even chatting briefly with so of the patrons.
There was one embarrassing incident where a regular custor playfully patted him on the rear, but Jenna imdiately caught him in the act and gave him a stern scolding.
Despite his occasional mistakes, the custors laughed them off, encouraging him with kind words like "Keep it up!" and "You’re doing great!"
Their warmth and understanding made Shen Xinghui feel a bittersweet ache.
Never in his past life had he experienced so much kindness and care from others and it brought tears to his eyes.
Shen Xinghui found comfort in cleaning and washing dishes, the tasks he genuinely enjoyed.
When he helped out with those, Jenna and Henry praised him, saying, "You’re so good at this!"
For the first ti in a long while, he found himself smiling naturally.
Yet, at night, his heart ached.
Alone in his bed, his thoughts inevitably returned to Ignatius.
The mory of his rejection was still vivid—how Ignatius had frowned and given him a piercing look when Shen Xinghui had approached him, vulnerable and exposed.
It was a clear refusal and Shen Xinghui berated himself for his foolishness.
"Ah..."
His tears welled up, unbidden.
The warmth he now experienced only deepened the pain of the loss.
His heart was still raw and tender, and he didn’t know how to heal from such a crushing heartbreak.
Knowing crying too much would only give him a headache, Shen Xinghui forced himself to focus on sleeping.
The upside of physical labor was that, even when his mind was restless, his body’s exhaustion demanded rest.
Slowly, he drifted into slumber.
The following day, Shen Xinghui felt a little more composed.
His movents were less clumsy, and during a break, he even prepared a dish—thick olets.
It was a recipe that Ignatius had once liked, but it seed to suit the tastes of Jenna and Henry as well.
They praised it enthusiastically, and Shen Xinghui wrote down the recipe for them, promising to make sothing different next ti.
Although the work was still hectic, Shen Xinghui’s body was beginning to adjust.
The number of mistakes he made beco less and Jenna quietly gave him a thumbs-up, saying, "Good job!"
It made his cheeks flushed with pride.
After a few days, Shen Xinghui felt as if he had always been a part of the inn.
