Leon made a face like Riven had suggested he live in a swamp. "Absolutely not," he declared, flipping his long blond hair over his shoulder dramatically. "Do I look like soone who lives in enemy territory?"

Riven blinked slowly. "Well, that’s what this is too, technically."

Leon ignored that.

"I’m not staying with a wolf general," Leon added with his nose in the air.

"I’m a wolf." Riven pointed out.

"Well, you’re the exception." Leon sounded pretty pleased with himself when he said that, like it was a complint.

"Oh wow, I am honoured," Riven said sarcastically, but the dense lion did not get it, but instead looked even more proud! Ugh, this stupid lion!

Riven muttered under his breath. "And you’re the one who declared war, rember?"

Leon sniffed. "A necessary political manoeuvre."

Riven gave him a flat look. "It was over land that wasn’t even yours."

"It was a matter of pride," Leon snapped back.

"Was your pride worth getting kicked out of your own palace?" Riven asked, deadpan.

Leon’s eyes narrowed. "...That was unrelated."

Riven sighed and plopped down on the couch. "You’re impossible. Where do you want to stay then?"

Leon smiled triumphantly and sat beside him, way too close. "Here."

"Here...?" Riven echoed, scooting an inch away. "You want to stay here—with ?"

"Exactly, that’s what I have been saying," Leon said with a satisfied nod. "You’re the only one I can trust."

"I don’t rember earning that badge," Riven mumbled.

Leon leaned closer. "Besides, you owe ."

"For what?"

Leon lifted his chin. "I abdicated my throne."

Riven stared at him. "You started a war, got dethroned, and wandered here with a stick and a sack. That is not my fault."

Leon gave him the most offended look ever. "I left for you."

Riven paused, ’For ?" He felt kind of touched, but that did not last long. If Soren found out- No, no, no!

Leon moved closer again, shoulder to shoulder now. "So, what’s for lunch?"

"I don’t know," Riven said, finally giving up and flopping dramatically backwards on the couch. "Ask the guy you were glaring at earlier."

Leon scowled. "That man was far too close to you. Why were you calling his na?"

"I was calling for help," Riven groaned. "Because a giant lion showed up at my door and said I had to take responsibility."

The door creaked open with the softest groan, but it was loud enough to catch Riven’s attention. He glanced up just in ti to see Xavier walking in, holding a tray in one hand and his composure in the other. His eyes landed squarely on the absurd sight before him.

Leon purposefully shimmied his way into Riven’s lap and circled his hands around Riven’s waist.

Xavier stopped mid-step.

"Really?" he said flatly.

Leon glanced over his shoulder, face buried against Riven’s... Well-

Riven pushed at his arm, but Leon only curled in tighter like a cat refusing to be moved. "Can you not—?" Riven grumbled.

Leon shifted dramatically, flopping into Riven’s lap with a long-suffering sigh like he had just climbed a mountain. His golden hair fanned out like spun silk, and he looked up at Riven with eyes that shimred just a bit too innocently. "I’m very hungry," he said, voice as soft as velvet. "But also... so tired."

Leon whispered, blinking slowly. "I haven’t eaten in... Days. Probably. I don’t even rember."

Xavier set the tray down on the nearby table with a clack. "When Master gets ho, you might want to be a little more honest about your presence. He’ll know you’re here. Trying to hide you behind furniture isn’t going to cut it."

Leon, instead of looking appropriately sheepish, rolled further onto Riven’s thighs and pouted dramatically. "Why must everyone be so cruel to ?" he sighed. "I’ve been exiled, starved, emotionally neglected—and now even your butler is an."

"I’m not a butler," Xavier muttered.

"Ah, Soren doesn’t even have a butler?" He already started to look down upon him.

Riven, to his dismay, didn’t imdiately shove Leon off. He just stared down at the mop of golden hair in his lap and frowned. "Did... Did your mother kick you out?"

Leon didn’t answer right away. He simply nuzzled into Riven’s lap and murmured, "I’m very tired."

That wasn’t a ’no.’ Riven’s brow furrowed. But that wasn’t a yes either, Riven however, did not think of that.

He exhaled slowly, letting a hand hover awkwardly over Leon’s head before reluctantly setting it down in his hair. "You should eat sothing," he said under his breath, but Leon just humd happily like he’d won sothing."

As the door closed, Leon peeked up through his lashes. "Do you have anything sweet? I want sothing with jam."

Riven gave him a look.

"What? I might be holess, but I have standards."

Riven sighed, dragging a hand down his face. "I’m not your servant."

"But you are feeding ," Leon said sweetly, rolling over so he could stare up at Riven more directly.

"I’m not—" Riven’s voice cracked slightly in disbelief. "Never mind."

Leon yawned dramatically, covering his mouth with the back of his hand like a delicate flower. "Besides, you’re warm. And you sll nice. It’s oddly comforting."

"Stop sniffing ," Riven deadpanned.

There was a soft knock at the door.

Xavier peeked in again. "Soren should be on his way back." He warned them, if anything happened afterwards, it was NOT his fault. Nope, he was not involved.

Leon sat up slowly, pushing his hair back in an exaggerated swoop. "Quick! Do I look sufficiently tragic? Is this collar artfully dishevelled or just sad?" He would not kick him out if he looked pitiful enough? Leon patted his own cheek. "Maybe if I slap myself a little, red cheeks always earn sympathy points."

"You’re not slapping yourself," Riven muttered, grabbing his wrist.

Leon grinned. "Aha. So you do care."

Riven bit his lip. What was he going to do? He did not have any explanation. What could he say? Please let the ex-king live with us, he is holess? Would that work?
