"Stay right here."

Riven blinked. "Wait, are you going to—?"

But Ronan had already vanished into the woods with barely a sound, shifting his stance low like a predator. That regal Alpha aura never quite left him. He turned into the beautiful silver wolf he was to hunt for small prey.

It didn’t take long. Within ten minutes, the bushes rustled and Ronan erged with a fat hare, its soft grey fur dappled with leaves. Riven let go of the horse he was petting and t him halfway, eyebrows raised.

"Where did you even—how do you hunt that fast?"

"Wolf instincts."

Ah, Right.

He got to work imdiately, gutting and cleaning the hare, which surprised Riven. He did not know that Ronan would know this. He had private chefs who cooked for him, but he could cook too? Well, Leon could, so why was he surprised.

Riven felt like he had learnt a lot about his favourite characters! The story mostly focused on pampering and... Snusnu. Look, the story delivered what it promised! It never said it was an amazing story with twists and turns! Riven only read it for the say gex-

anwhile, Ronan built a small fire, shielding it with rocks and branches as kindling and preventing the wind from putting it out, and set the at on a makeshift spit.

Riven sat cross-legged on the log, propping his chin on his hand as he watched Ronan in the firelight. There was sothing serene about the whole mont—sothing peaceful. His Alpha, strong and quiet, focused on a simple act of care: feeding him.

Now this was romance!

Riven’s lips curved into a smile.

"You’re staring," Ronan murmured without looking up.

"I’m admiring," Riven said honestly. "You should cook often, you look hot."

Ronan shot him a look and a crooked smile before continuing to do what he was doing. He clearly appreciated the complint.

The scent of roasting at filled the clearing. Riven’s stomach growled again, louder this ti.

"Almost done," Ronan said, rotating the at carefully. Once it was thoroughly cooked, he blew gently on the skewer to cool it, then tore off a portion and held it out to Riven.

Riven took it with both hands, practically glowing. "You’re the best," he said around a full mouth, cheeks puffed like a chipmunk.

Ronan sat beside him, close but not crowding. He watched with quiet satisfaction as Riven happily munched on the roasted hare, legs swinging slightly over the log. The fire crackled softly, and the forest sounds faded into the background.

"You’re not eating?" Riven asked with a mouthful, pausing to look at him.

Ronan was about to answer normally, but what was the fun in that? His expression shifted into sothing softer—teasing, even. He leaned forward, fingers brushing lightly against Riven’s jaw as he whispered, "I am."

Then, before Riven could ask what he ant, Ronan kissed him.

It was slow. Gentle. A taste.

Riven blinked, then lted into it, cheeks burning with both heat and affection.

When Ronan pulled back, he smirked. "Mm," he said with faux consideration, "very tasty."

Damn. Riven thought to himself. His mate learnt how to be cheeky from him. Doing such things was usually his move.

Riven shoved him lightly, but his heart was fluttering. He chewed the next bite with a stupid grin, and Ronan simply sat there, his eyes warm, his presence steady.

This. This was what Riven loved more than anything. Ah, romance.

Once they finished eating, the fire was gently put out, and the horse was untied. Riven gave the put out fire one last look before letting Ronan hoist him back up onto the horse. Again, he sat in front, and again, Ronan’s arms wrapped naturally around his waist, protective, firm, and steady.

The ride back to the Wolf Clan was the opposite of quiet. Riven refused to sit still. He kept talking about stuff, he was bored! So he recounted all the stories he rembered reading from the modern world. He didn’t forget to tweak it to fit this world. And as expected, they were all BL stories, which was what he read the most!

Riven leaned back slightly, letting the back of his head rest against Ronan’s shoulder. They were almost ho, and Riven finally got quiet. He was tired.

As they passed familiar terrain, nearing the edges of the Wolf Clan’s domain, Riven finally broke the silence. "Which story was your favourite?"

Ronan thought for a mont before saying, "Our story."

Riven turned his head to face him to see his expression. Was this man serious? "You’re so corny."

"Alright then, truthfully, our story could be better. In an ideal world, I wouldn’t have to share your ti, and have you to myself. But still, I like what I have right now." He answered honestly. Yes, he hated the arrangent, he hid it for a long ti, never complained. But he finally chose to let it all out.

Riven accepted his answer. Well, you can’t change what happened, you can only roll with it. And yes, that answer was corny, but it was still his honest answer, so he would take it. Though he really wanted to know what Ronan’s favourite BL story was, he would love to go on and on about the lore.

"I provided you free entertainnt on the way back. Do I get a reward?" Riven asked with hope.

Ronan didn’t answer. His chin simply dropped slightly, his nose brushing the top of Riven’s hair as he breathed him in. That scent. It comforted him.

When they reached the gates, the guards were surprised to see the Alpha riding back so casually. Didn’t they go to war?

The gates opened quickly, and several wolves stepped aside to make room. But Ronan didn’t stop at his house. Instead, he guided the horse further up the slope toward the hill that overlooked the valley. The breeze was stronger there, and the stars had begun to peek through the fading sky.
