"Mother, you cannot be serious—" Leon’s voice trembled with disbelief.

"I am very serious," the Dowager Queen interrupted, her tone cold and unwavering. "You will not be king. You will not reclaim that title."

Leon stared at her, eyes wide with shock. How could she?!

"You can’t do this to ," he protested. "I’m your son!"

The Dowager Queen’s gaze hardened. "And I have failed as your mother. I allowed your arrogance to fester, your entitlent to grow unchecked. That ends now."

Leon clenched his fists, his knuckles turning white. "Fine! I’ll return him. I’ll bring Riven back, and we can forget this ever happened."

"It’s too late for that," she replied, her voice laced with regret. "Your actions have consequences. You kidnapped the mate of an allied clan’s leader, jeopardising our kingdom’s diplomatic relations."

He scoffed. "So, what? You expect to grovel at their feet?"

"No," she said, stepping closer. "I expect you to serve. You will beco Riven’s attendant. You will cater to his needs, obey his commands, and seek his forgiveness. Only when he gives permission can you regain your status as King."

Leon recoiled as if struck. "What?! You want to be a servant to that... that oga?!"

The Queen’s eyes narrowed. "Yes. It’s high ti you learned humility."

She turned on her heel and exited the room, leaving Leon alone with his thoughts—and with Riven.

Unbeknownst to Leon, Riven had been resting on the bed with a smile, completely enjoying the direction of the conversation.

As the door closed behind the Queen, Riven sat up, his eyes gleaming with amusent.

Leon paced the room, muttering to himself. "This is absurd. I can’t be a servant. But maybe... Maybe if I spin the story right, Riven will not know the power he holds."

Riven cleared his throat, causing Leon to jump.

"Oh, you’re awake," Leon said, feigning surprise.

"I’ve been awake," Riven replied, his voice calm. "Heard every word.

"Wh-what?" Leon trembled. The smile on Riven’s face scared him. There was sothing so... So... Off about it.

"Save it," Riven interrupted, standing up and stretching. "Looks like the tables have turned."

Leon swallowed hard, realising that his plan had backfired. Riven, once his captive, now held power over him.

"Well," Riven said, walking towards the door, "let’s not keep my new kidnapper-turned-attendant waiting. I have a list of tasks for you."

Leon stiffened. "Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not actually going to—"

Riven turned to face him, a soft but cutting smile curling at his lips. "Yes, you are."

Leon’s jaw dropped slightly, incredulous. "You can’t seriously expect to serve you like—like so handmaid!"

"I can and I do." Riven arched a brow. "Unless you want to storm back to your mother and tell her you refused? I’m sure she’ll be thrilled to know you’re still as prideful and disobedient as ever."

Leon looked visibly flustered, and Riven didn’t bother hiding his enjoynt of the mont.

"You’re enjoying this," Leon accused, tone laced with venom.

"Oh, imnsely," Riven replied with an airy laugh. "But that’s not the point. You brought here against my will, drugged , and now you’re in disgrace. Do you think you can still negotiate? Do you think you have any ground to stand on?"

Leon opened his mouth to speak, but Riven stepped in closer, eyes gleaming with amusent and sothing sharper beneath.

"You’re not the king here. You’re not a prince. You’re not anything unless I say you are," Riven said softly, yet every word landed with weight. "So let make this simple: you do what I say. When I say it. No complaints."

Leon’s lips thinned. "This is humiliating."

"Good. You should feel that," Riven replied, then turned and flopped onto one of the velvet-cushioned chairs with a dramatic sigh. "I’m feeling awfully stiff, you know. That whole kidnapping ordeal tends to leave tension in the shoulders."

He looked up at Leon and smiled sweetly. "Massage ."

Leon blinked. "You can’t be serious—"

"I am very serious." Riven crossed one leg over the other. "And if you’re even thinking of refusing, I suggest you rember how eager your mother was to throw you at my feet like an offering."

For a mont, Leon looked like he might explode, but sothing in Riven’s gaze—quiet satisfaction, yes, but also a controlled fury still simring underneath—made him think better of it.

Through clenched teeth, Leon moved behind the chair.

"You’re going to regret this," he muttered under his breath.

Riven smiled. "Oh, I already regret eting you, darling. But this? This is therapeutic."

He tilted his head slightly and added with faux concern, "And do be thorough, Leon. I’ve had a very stressful few days."

Leon had never massaged anyone in his life.

His hands hovered awkwardly above Riven’s shoulders, unsure of where to start. His fingers twitched with hesitation, a prince’s hands untrained in nial labour. Riven sat with relaxed arrogance in the velvet chair, his fluffy wolf ears twitching lazily and tail swaying just slightly behind him. Every movent exuded smug satisfaction.

"Well?" Riven tilted his head back slightly, voice syrupy sweet. "I’m not going to massage myself, am I?" He was out for revenge, he was going to make this arrogant lion kneel.

Leon grit his teeth, blond hair falling over his eyes as he reluctantly set his hands down. His fingers dug in—too hard, too sharp.

"Ow," Riven said bluntly, ears flicking back in irritation. "I said massage, not crush . Practice so restraint, that’s the whole point of you becoming my servant."

Leon muttered sothing under his breath and adjusted. His hands trembled slightly as he pressed again, this ti too light.

Riven made an unimpressed sound. "You’re not patting a baby, Leon. Do it properly."

A low growl rumbled in Leon’s throat. His fingers curled reflexively near the base of Riven’s neck, dangerously close to where he could—if he wanted—snap it in one quick move.

"I can feel you fantasising about murder," Riven murmured, smirking. "Resist the urge. You’d only dig your grave deeper."
