After the encounter, Emma got into the car, heaving a heavy sigh of relief as though she had won a major war.

It was indeed a major war, considering how much it had taken her to stand up to him the way she did. She mused as she headed ho.

As the driver drove her ho, Ivy's thoughts flashed through her mind, and she decided to call Ivy to see if they could et up since she didn't have anything to do at ho.

She dialed the line and waited for Ivy to receive the call. "Hello, Ivy," Emma said imdiately. Ivy answered.

"Emma?" Ivy called, unsure since Emma hadn't called her once after they t that day.

"That's right," Emma said with a smile, understanding Ivy's surprise.

"Oh my God, Em. You finally called!" Ivy exclaid.

Emma sighed, guilt gnawing at her. "Im sorry, I'm just calling now...."

"It's okay. I totally understand. You've called, and that's all that matters," Ivy said dismissively, and Emma smiled.

Ivy was just as easy going and free spirited just as she rembered.

"So, how have you been?" Emma asked conversationally, and Ivy shrugged even though Emma could see her.

"Im fine, and you? I'm guessing you calling right now ans you've decided we should be friends again, right? I hope im right," Ivy said, the excitent in her voice evident.

Emma laughed, glad Ivy wasn't making things awkward for them. "Well, Im on my way ho right now, and if you don't mind, I would really love for us to et up...."

"Of course I don't. Why would you even ask that in the first place?" Ivy cut in quickly, and Emma smiled.

"So, where are you? Should I co to you, or are we eting sowhere else?" Emma asked, and Ivy smiled.

"I will send you an address the mont this call ends," Ivy said, smiling.

"Okay, then. See you soon," Emma concluded the call.

Emma received a text almost imdiately with the detailed address of the place where she was supposed to et Ivy.

Seeing that it was a restaurant she wasn't familiar with, she glanced at the driver. "I would love to see a friend at this address," she said, giving him her phone so he could look at the address.

As they arrived at the restaurant, Emma got out of the car and was greeted by one of the hostesses.

She was still talking to the hostess when Ivy saw her and walked up to her.

"I'm so happy to see you, Em. You look so good," Ivy said as she wrapped her arms around Emma.

"Sa here; this is a nice place," Emma complinted as she pulled away, a charming smile on her face.

"Yeah, let's sit down," Ivy said, and they both sat down. "So tell , how have you been? You look really good."

Emma gave a thin smile and said, "I've been fine, and sincerely, I am very sorry I haven't called; I've been trying to clear my head, but it's no excuse."

"That's fine. I totally understand," Ivy said, and Emma nodded.

"So, what really happened? I an, between you and Jake? We all know how much you loved him and stuff, so what happened? I know you weren't unfaithful. So?" Ivy asked, concern written all over her face.

Ivy saw how Emma's face fell, and she couldn't help feeling bad that she was probably pushing things. "Don't worry if you can't go into it now. The details can wait. I can wait till you're ready to tell that story," Ivy said, and Emma smiled slightly.

"It's fine. I'm ready...."

"Are you sure? You really don't have to if you're not ready," Ivy said again, and Emma shook her head.

"It's fine. I don't think I'll ever be ready until I decide to talk about it," Emma said, and Ivy looked at her with concern.

"Fine. If you say so," Ivy said and signaled the waiter to bring the drinks she had asked for before Emma arrived.

Emma took a long sip from her drink after it arrived before going ahead to tell Ivy what had happened.

Ivy's blood boiled in rage as she listened to Emma narrate all that had happened and how Alex had co to her rescue without ntioning the part about their contract marriage.

"Oh my God, Em. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of that. Sorry, you lost your baby. I'm so sorry," Ivy said apologetically.

"It's fine. I've already moved past all that," Emma said, and Ivy sighed.

"I knew Jake was just putting up a nice front. From the mont he stopped you from hanging out with and stuff, I knew he was up to no good, but what could I do? You seed genuinely happy with him," Ivy said and then hissed.

"He would definitely pay for all he did to you! How could he be so heartless to say those things about you? He's such a jerk and a loser," Ivy said, her voice rising in anger.

Emma laughed, watching Ivy vent on her behalf. "Calm down, Ivy. It's all in the past. And guess what?" Emma said, mischief glistening in her eyes.

"What?"

"I ran into him today, and I made sure to give him a dose of his dicine. I'm sure he would still be reeling from it," Emma said and went on to tell Ivy about her encounter with Jake.

"Oh, girl! I'm so proud of you. Serves him right," Ivy said, and they both laughed.

"I'm glad you're free from him. You deserve the best, Em. He isn't worth it. If you need anything, just let know; I'm here for you," Ivy said, compassion in her expression.

"Yeah. I know that. Enough about ; how have you been, Ivy?" Emma asked, with a smile on her face, anticipating her response.
