"Good to see you Miss Serena, how are your grandparents?" the manager was an elderly woman and was a very nice and friendly woman.

"They’re very fine Mrs. Crawford, I saw your ssage." Serena went straight to the point, she was already anxious and talking too much would make her more anxious.

"Ah yes, concerning Abigail’s health right?"

"Yes ma." Serena said, her heart beating rapidly in her rib cage, she has experienced sothing like this with her own mother, that was why she was very terrified when it cos to any thing pertaining health issues.

They recently realized that Abigail might have a disease, she would cough persistently and sotis she developed chills in the night with her feeling week all the ti, they decided to seek dical help, and when the results ca out the doctor had reported that she had Pneumonia,

Since then Abigail had been going in and out of the hospital for her routine checkup, on Thursday was her third appointnt day which Serena had missed.

"The report for her chest scan ca in yesterday, though it not sothing I am happy to share, I have to inform you as I know how important Abigail is to you."

"Please do tell Mrs. Crawford you are beginning to scare ."

"Unfortunately for us due to the late discovery of her pneumonia, she had developed lung scarring." Mrs. Crawford paused, she breathed in deeply.

"Lung scarring... what does that an?" Serena was already frustrated.

"I can’t say for sure Miss Serena, but what I know for sure is that she might be needing a lung transplant if it gets serious."

"What do you an... she has lung scarring, the Abigail I saw now might be weak but she appeared much better than the last ti I saw her, there must have been a mistake." Serena almost scread at the woman, she was extrely angry now, she could not afford to lose her, she already lost so many people in her life.

The little girl was like a daughter to her and the girl was just 10years old, she is too young to be experiencing this kind of a thing, Serena was filled with intense anguish.

"Fortunately, it was discovered early and she can be treated imdiately without the lung transplant, she already started the treatnt." Mrs.Crawford finally inford her.

Her little girl had lung scarring and she might need a transplant was all Serena could hear and think about as she took a deep breath forcing herself to remain calm, there’s no reason to get angry at the woman she reasoned with herself.

"You can take a look at the test results."

Serena took the results and examined the piece of paper, there was a picture of a lung and so marked area around the lung image with a report written under the lung image but she could barely understand the words written there, she stared absentmindedly at the piece of paper.

"How can a piece of paper bear such brutal news." She wondered to herself.

"I will take my leave now Mrs. Crawford, thank you for telling this." Serena said politely as she turned to leave the office...before she could turn the door knob open.

Mrs. Crawford called to her. "don’t beat yourself over this Serena, I say this as a mother the doctor assured us that she would be fine and it will not be a problem."

Serena nodded at the woman as she left the office numbed, how can this be happening at this crucial ti she thought as hot tears began to pool out of her eyes.

She rushed to the restroom and wept bitterly, once she had cried her eyes out.

Serena watched her face with cold water to calm her puffy eyes, as she looked at her reflection in the mirror, her purple eyes looked so lifeless as they stared back at her, she stayed in the rest room for soti to compose herself before she ca out to join the kids in the field. She did not want any one of them to figure out that she had been crying.

As she entered the field Abi spotted her first, and ran to her, the little girl observed her puffy face and reddened eyes.

Serena tried to appear cheerful for the girl but nothing could ever pass Abi’s eyes.

"Ree, cough! I’ve you been crying?" Abi asked her.
