Lariette woke up feeling recharged the next morning, oblivious to the tense argunt that happened within the Elsher family last night.

After briefly showing the apartnt around to Ruediger the night before, Lariette quickly washed herself and went to bed. The chain of events that started in the morning made her exhausted.

Rolling lazily on the bed, Lariette sought warmth under her plush pink comforter. Her chocolate brown hair spread out on the checkered white-pink pillow.

Drowsiness tried to pull her back to slumber, almost successfully tempting her to sleep in.

But.

"Haa... I should get out of bed."

Lariette hadn’t forgotten that she got a new housemate starting yesterday. The said housemate also had promised to prepare a lovely breakfast spread.

Between sleeping and eating, her tummy won.

Lariette dragged herself out of the bed. She folded the comforter, straightened the satin sheet and plumped the pillows.

After turning off the AC and opening the windows, Lariette headed to the washroom. Sunlight filtered through the white lace curtain, bringing along the fresh sumr breeze.

The clock pointed to a quarter after eight. Despite still being early, on a weekend much less, Lariette took a shower. It was a habit ingrained in her by the late Mrs. Evans ever since she was a child.

A refreshed Lariette stepped out of the washroom not long after, her figure wrapped in a towel. Slight redness tinged her face, stemming from the warm shower just now.

Lariette headed to the walk-in closet next. Her wardrobe mostly consisted of pastel-colored clothes with the occasional dark palette.

Standing opposite one section of her closet, Lariette eyed the sumr casual wear hanging on the rack.

"This one."

Lariette picked a sleeveless crew-neck shirt in the color pale yellow. She paired the loose blouse with a knee-length pleated skirt in the shade of light blue.

Before heading out of the room, Lariette tied her long hair into a ssy bun. The scent of sothing sweet lingered on the tip of her nose as she walked down the hallway.

’What did he make? I sll pancakes and pastries.’

Halting her steps at the kitchen entrance, Lariette’s sapphire eyes fell on the back of Ruediger. He was facing the stove, seemingly cooking sothing.

A realization dawned on her as soon as she spotted sothing.

’Oh! I forgot!’

Lariette grimaced when she saw Ruediger wearing her fluffy pink apron over his light gray T-shirt. She forgot to get another one for him.

Haha... She could only hope he wouldn’t mind wearing the cutesy apron this morning.

Shaking her head, Lariette told herself to throw the unimportant issue to the back of her mind. She walked further inside the kitchen.

Ruediger hadn’t noticed Lariette’s presence. She mused upon seeing him with a low ponytail instead of his signature hair bun. The end of his locks reached just below his shoulders.

"Eddy, good morning."

Ruediger imdiately glanced behind his shoulder upon hearing Lariette’s greeting. A smile was carved on his lips as his erald eyes glinted.

"Good morning, Lettie," Ruediger turned sideways after lowering the heat of the stove, "Did you sleep well?"

Lariette returned Ruediger’s smile. She slowly approached him, "I did. How about you? Last night was your first ti staying here."

Returning his attention to the pan on the stove, Ruediger answered without looking at Lariette, "I slept well. The room is nice. Oh, I’m almost done. You should wait in the dining room."

Lariette nodded softly, satisfied to hear Ruediger having a good sleep. Peering at the stove, she said, "Let set up the table. Oh! You made pancakes?"

Golden-brown pancakes sat on top of the pan, waiting to be transferred to the plates. The sight of the fluffy pancakes enticed Lariette’s appetite.

"We’ll have pancakes with matcha cream and another special ingredient," Ruediger glanced at Lariette, winking cheerfully at her, "I also prepared berry yogurt parfait with granola. Oh, and also so deviled eggs."

"Wow! All sound so yummy! Thank you for your hard work, Eddy."

Lariette’s eyes sparkled in delight. She almost salivated at the ntion of the dishes. Having already tasted Ruediger’s cooking before, she believed everything would be delicious.

Under Lariette’s insistence, she set up the table and brewed so drinks. Black tea for her while coffee for Ruediger. Soon, plates of dishes were served on the dining table.

Standing opposite Lariette, Ruediger smiled as he placed an empty plate before her, "I have sothing to show you before we eat."

"Oh?"

Arching her brows, Lariette’s sapphire eyes followed each of Ruediger’s movents. He wore a pair of food gloves before taking one piece of the pancakes.

Lariette’s curiosity was piqued when Ruediger tore the pancake into two. He placed one of the halves on the empty plate before ripping the other into smaller pieces.

Ruediger stacked the pancake pieces together, leaving the middle part vacant. Then, he lightly spread so matcha cream and dusted the matcha powder over the pancakes. He put slices of strawberries on them.

Watching Ruediger’s actions reminded Lariette of a few food presentations she saw on the Internet. Her heart swelled with joy upon witnessing his tiny exhibition.

"Now, the final act."

Ruediger cast a lazy smile on his lips. Lariette’s eyes trailed his movent as he reached for a light green ceramic sauce pourer. With the lid on, she couldn’t see what kind of sauce was inside.

Until...

"Wow!"

Ruediger tilted the pourer, letting a stream of light blue liquid pour onto the middle of the top part of the stacked pancakes. The liquid flowed down, resembling a waterfall.

"Eddy! This is fantastic!"

Ruediger chuckled at the sight of Lariette’s delighted countenance. Putting the sauce pourer on the table, he said, "I just recreated what I’ve seen on the Internet before. I’m glad you enjoy the little show[01]."

Soft chuckles escaped Lariette’s lips. She replied between her laughter, "Still~ Hehe, I really didn’t expect to see this. Thank you for the show, Eddy."

"Ti to dig in," Ruediger pushed the plate closer to Lariette before sitting opposite her, "The food won’t taste as good once they’re cold."

"Okay! Let’s eat!"

With a table of delicious food, the pair enjoyed their first breakfast as newlyweds together.
