As planned, Lariette and Ruediger went to the little Taiwanese dessert shop. They had a bowl of taro and sweet potato balls each, with custom toppings and hot soy milk.

At this ti, half of the store was occupied by patrons. Everyone enjoyed hot desserts to combat the chill of the late autumn air. The indistinct hum of chatters and light giggles echoed in the shop.

Lariette and Ruediger sat by the window. Passersby walked past the store, coming and going from various destinations. No one was dressed lightly in this weather.

"You didn’t have lunch," Ruediger smiled helplessly as he put so sweet peanuts into Lariette’s bowl. "Don’t you want sothing heavier?"

As they walked to this dessert shop, he asked if she was busy enough that she didn’t get to have lunch. She just smiled and said yes.

But for so reason, it didn’t seem like the real answer. Still, he just took it at face value for now.

"It’s fine. I can wait for dinner," Lariette happily accepted the sweet peanuts. Grinning, she said, "It’ll be four soon. Should we get so takeouts for dinner? And watch a movie together?"

Ruediger stared at Lariette, then nodded, "Yes, let’s do that."

Because she said she could leave work early today, he hadn’t begun prepping and cooking. He understood what she ant. She hoped to spend more ti in leisure with him before he left tomorrow.

Throughout their ti at the dessert shop, Ruediger listened to Lariette’s story about work today, including her students’ antics. Later, they switched as he ntioned going for a run after sending her to school this morning, and then deep cleaning in the afternoon.

Lariette was aware that Ruediger rarely talked about his work unlike her, but that was never a problem. She simply assud it might be due to confidential issues.

The pair stayed at the dessert shop until half-past four. They dropped by a nearby restaurant and ordered so dishes. It was already five when they finally arrived ho.

Ruediger closed the door behind them with a quiet click. The warmth of the apartnt welcod him and Lariette back. Their outerwears rustled as they slipped them off, but neither spoke.

After slipping into her ho slippers, she walked ahead of him. She pulled her braid to drape over her shoulder, quietly unfastened the tie, and then she brushed her fingers through her locks.

"Eddy, have you packed up? Will you stay with Aunt Felicia or at a hotel?"

Lariette asked Ruediger as they walked down the hallway, heading to the living room. He had her coat with him, draped over his jacket on one arm.

Since Ruediger would work alongside Felicia, Lariette wondered about him staying with his aunt. She believed Felicia would be glad to et her beloved nephew after so long.

"I’ve packed up, only a small suitcase. I didn’t have to bring much there," said Ruediger, a faint smile tugging on his lips, "I’ll stay with Aunt."

Lariette glanced behind her shoulder, quietly staring at Ruediger. The slightly somber look in her gaze caught his attention.

In fact, she did seem less spirited than usual and he could tell it wasn’t due to her work.

He didn’t want to be presumptuous, but he wondered if she was distracted because of him leaving tomorrow.

"Lettie."

At the sound of his soft whisper, she paused, her heart trembled. As he stepped closer, she unconsciously tilted her chin higher, letting her gaze et his.

Through a corner of her eye, she saw he had already put the takeout boxes on the nearby console table.

The erald eyes that often overflowed with affection for her, she wouldn’t get to see them for a few days. Also, his gentle voice and playful teasing wouldn’t color this apartnt during his absence.

Lariette wanted to laugh at herself. She knew she had been clingier than ever to Ruediger, but she couldn’t help it. Certainly, she would feel weird sleeping alone later.

Their relationship was still new, but it already felt longer to her.

Ruediger put one hand on Lariette’s waist, the other gently tracing her cheek. Smiling ever so softly, he asked, "Why? Already thinking how much will you miss ?"

Lariette blinked, then nodded, her cheeks flushed slightly, "Yes. How about you, Eddy?"

He hadn’t left, but her heart already ached with the pain of missing him.

Instead of answering her verbally, he did so through his actions. Dipping his head in, he brushed his lips over hers, playfully nibbling her lower lip, a warm, tender and lingering kiss.

Lariette exhaled softly against Ruediger’s lips, her finger searching for his neck. As she tilted her head and leaned into him, he deepened the kiss, his hand slipping to the back of her neck.

Their lips parted just enough to draw breath, then pressed together again. The tip of his tongue brushed lightly over her bottom lip, she parted it wider, allowing him in.

Their mingling breaths echoed in the hallways as their heartbeat quickened. When they finally broke apart for air, he pressed his forehead against hers, feeling her breath fanned his face.

"Lettie... can I take you to the bedroom now?"

Lariette, cheeks flushed and eyes glistened, t Ruediger’s heated gaze with a breathless nod, "Yes."

He seized her lips again, tongues tangling in a kiss that sent warmth all over their hearts and bodies. As they kissed, he slid his hands beneath her thighs, lifting her in one fluid motion.

"Ah!"

Lariette let out a quiet gasp of surprise, then soft laughter followed as she wrapped her legs around Ruediger’s waist. Her arms hooked around his neck, fingers threading into his crimson strands.

Ruediger asked teasingly, "Dinner and movie can wait, what do you think?"

Lariette chuckled, then leaned in to kiss Ruediger again. Without breaking the kisses, he carried her down the hallway, his footsteps hurried than ever.

Then, they disappeared inside his bedroom. The rustling of clothes being taken off echoed faintly before they fell to the floor.
