Slowing the speed of his car, Nathaniel drove toward the drop-off area outside the apartnt’s lobby. He glanced at the dashboard clock, a nervous smile curling on his lips.
For the very first ti, Nathaniel would experience sending Lorianne to school. She began attending the new kindergarten today. He imdiately agreed when Elsie asked whether he wanted to join them or not.
Nathaniel erged from the car, waiting for Elsie and Lorianne to appear. He arrived earlier than the promised ti.
’She’ll be so cute, right?’
Smiling, Nathaniel couldn’t help but imagine the adorable little one in her new uniform. She also kept gushing about it when he visited the apartnt before.
’Haa... I can’t wait to move here.’
Nathaniel threw his gaze outside the window, looking at the towering residential complex. It stood tall amid the other buildings, colored in white with expansive glass windows.
After getting Elsie’s approval of staying near her and Lorianne, Nathaniel imdiately searched for any vacant unit in this very building. Within minutes of a phone call with the manager, he secured one.
There was an empty apartnt unit on the floor below the one Elsie and Lorianne lived. Nathaniel had signed all the required docunts, including orders for renovations.
Once the apartnt was furnished, Nathaniel would move in. Tristan and his team of bodyguards would remain at Seacastle. He would return there from ti to ti.
"Daddy!"
Snapping out from his trance, Nathaniel saw Lorianne running toward him. Dressed in the blue and white uniform, she carried a pink backpack. Her twin braided pigtails bounced in the air as she ran.
Elsie followed from behind, moving with grace. Her blond hair was tousled behind her. She chuckled at the sight of the excited Lorianne throwing herself at Nathaniel.
"Good morning, my little princess."
Scooping Lorianne up, Nathaniel kissed her chubby cheeks, slling a mixture of strawberry and vanilla scent. The little one giggled before doing the sa.
"Daddy, morning~ Hehe, I ate a sandwich this morning. Daddy, what did you eat?"
"I ate so sandwiches too, chicken sandwiches. Which sandwich did you eat, huh?"
Lorianne declared, her brown eyes sparkling, "I ate egg sandwich! Also strawberries!"
After a few tis, Nathaniel’s awkwardness in showing his love for Lorianne disappeared. His heart was full of adoration for the little one despite only eting her recently.
Aside from carrying Lorianne, Nathaniel started calling her more affectionately, including a few physical touches like patting her small head, kissing her cheeks and hugging her.
"That’s good. You need to eat well to grow up well."
Unable to resist, Nathaniel ran his left palm over Lorianne’s head, being careful not to ss with her hair. The little one giggles, her cheeks pinkening with blush.
"Elsie, good morning," Nathaniel shifted his eyes from Lorianne to Elsie, smiling a little sheepishly, "Are we ready to go now?"
"Morning, Niel," Elsie returned Nathaniel’s smile. She gestured at his car, "Yes, we should go now. It’s still early, but better to get there soon."
Elsie held back from teasing about how Nathaniel and Lorianne seed to forget about her presence montarily. Curling her lips, she simply let the warmth of happiness spread within her.
Nathaniel put Lorianne in the booster seat. He placed her backpack on the side. Elsie stepped inside the car, sitting beside the driver’s seat.
"We’re going now," Nathaniel remarked. He tapped a few tis on the dashboard screen, "I’ve looked for its location. We’ll get there in no ti."
"Yay! To my new school!"
Striking both fists in the air, Lorianne declared. Nathaniel and Elsie laughed, entertained by the little one’s enthusiasm. The car slowly left the drop-off area, heading to the main road.
Nathaniel smoothly maneuvered the car, following the navigation displayed on the screen. Aside from the kindergarten’s location, he also checked its background.
Nathaniel believed in Elsie’s choice, but he still did it for peace of mind. After all, this would be Lorianne’s first kindergarten in this country.
As expected, Elsie was being thorough. She didn’t pick the kindergarten just because of the short distance from the apartnt, but also for its excellence and good security.
In less than ten minutes, Nathaniel pulled into the kindergarten’s parking lot outside the gate. The parents and guardians could park there while waiting for their children.
Exhaling softly, Nathaniel slowly released his hands from the steering wheel. His emotions were a bit unsteady despite trying to calm himself.
Nathaniel glanced to the back seat, looking at Lorianne. He didn’t notice that Elsie was eyeing him with a helpless smile.
Lorianne’s wide, curious eyes peered outside the car window. She seed to be entranced by the idea of going to a new kindergarten; to learn various things suitable for her age and make friends.
"We’re here," Nathaniel spoke, his voice hinting of a smile, "Are you ready, my princess?"
"Ready!"
Nathaniel, Elsie and Lorianne erged from the car and walked past the gate. Two guards allowed them in, including the other parents who ca with their children.
Lorianne’s gaze was fixated on the colorful kindergarten building in front of her. The walls were painted in hues of yellow, purple, pink and green, followed by cheerful murals of animals and nature decorating the entrance.
Nathaniel followed where Lorianne’s eyes landed before looking at the na of the kindergarten.
Bright Beginnings Academy.
The words were displayed in big, playful letters on a signboard, adorned with cartoon clouds and smiling sun. The surrounding yard was spacious, complete with a small playground consisting of swings, slides and seesaws.
Nathaniel crouched down to Lorianne’s level. He gently patted her back, "Ready, Lorrie? Daddy and Mommy will send you to class."
Lorianne looked from Nathaniel to Elsie, showing no traces of fear or hesitation. Grinning widely, she nodded, "Okay!"
Nathaniel was unsure of what to feel. He was amazed by Lorianne’s eagerness. Unlike so children here who hid behind their parents’ legs, she was keen to join this new kindergarten.
The family of three resud their steps. Lorianne held hands with Elsie while Nathaniel followed them closely. As they approached the main entrance, they saw three teachers welcoming the other parents and children.
Most of the children returned after the long sumr break. Lorianne might be among the few who started attending this kindergarten starting from today.
"Good morning," Elsie greeted one of the teachers, her lips wearing a polite smile, "It’s our child’s first day here. May I ask where her class is?"
A teacher turned to Elsie, greeting her with a slight nod. She also acknowledged Nathaniel and Lorianne’s presence.
"Welco to Bright Beginnings Academy!" the teacher said kindly, her eyes landing on Lorianne, "You must be Lorianne Winslow. You’re the only new student today."
"Yes, my na is Lorianne," Lorianne smiled brightly, happy to be greeted by her teacher.
The teacher lowered herself, crouching down to Lorianne’s level, "Hello, Lorianne. My na is Kathleen, you may call Miss Katie. We’re so happy to have you here! Are you excited for your first day?"
"I am excited!" Lorianne answered without any hesitation. She eagerly asked Kathleen, "Can I make new friends, Miss Katie?"
She hadn’t had any friends here!
She wanted to make new friends!
