Zhang ide imdiately rushed over to help him up. So what if Qin Long knew a few wealthy people? Li Mingjie, after all, was a governnt official.

"Dad, I’m actually just a candidate for the position. I haven’t been officially appointed yet," Li Mingjie gritted his teeth and confessed.

"What!" Zhang ide’s brow furrowed.

"However, as long as nothing unexpected happens, the post is mine, nine tis out of ten," Li Mingjie continued. "But if Qin Long says a bunch of nonsense in front of Director Jiang, I’m definitely finished."

Curled up on the floor, Li Mingjie was consud by regret. Why did I have to be such an idiot and offend Qin Long! Who the hell knew he was acquainted with a top official like Director Jiang? He had been the most promising candidate. That was why, just to show off, he had told Zhang ide’s family. Now, it was all over.

"You really do reap what you sow," Tang Xuewu murmured softly as she poured herself a glass of juice. Her voice was quiet, but to Li Mingjie and the others, it bood like a clap of thunder. They were utterly ashad. Just a mont ago, they had been mocking Qin Long, and now it felt as if their faces had been slapped hard.

"Sister ilan, we’re your real family!"

"We’re your kin! You have to ask Qin Long to put in a good word for Mingjie!"

Zhang ide and Yang ilian rushed over to pour tea for Zhang ilan, their eyes pleading.

Hearing this, Zhang ilan couldn’t have been more delighted. When have Zhang ide and Yang ilian ever spoken to so humbly? They always acted so high and mighty, with their noses in the air. Seeing Zhang ide so subservient now, his face a mask of desperation, a wave of vicious satisfaction washed over her.

"This... I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do," Zhang ilan said, spreading her hands helplessly. "Though Qin Long is staying with the Tang Family, he’s at most a prospective son-in-law. He might not listen to what I say."

"My dear Sister ilan, you should have Qin Long and Xuewu register their marriage right away! Where else could you find such a capable son-in-law? Don’t miss this chance!"

"ilan, Mingjie is one of our own! You have to help him!" Yang ilian added, her gaze fixed on Zhang ilan, full of entreaty.

"ilian, Fourth Brother, I truly do want to help you," Zhang ilan said slowly. "But after everything you said about Qin Long earlier... I was originally thinking of asking Mingjie to find Qin Long a job as a security guard or sothing. But you two just had to bring up a job shoveling manure. Isn’t that just looking down on him?"

Hearing this, Zhang ide’s old face flushed red.

"Sister ilan, let’s not get hung up on that now," he said hastily, waving his hand. "As long as you can save Mingjie’s career, I’ll have him arrange a cushy, high-paying job for Qin Long. How about it?"

"Yes, I’ll definitely make it happen," Li Mingjie chid in, looking at Zhang ilan as if she were his last hope, his voice dripping with desperation.

Zhang ilan was practically cackling inside. I, Zhang ilan, have finally won a round!

"That won’t be necessary," Tang Xuewu interjected before her mother could speak. "I’ll arrange Ah Long’s job myself."

At her words, Zhang ide’s family fell silent. Tang Xuewu was now the project’s general manager; arranging a position for soone would be a simple matter for her.

"Dad, are you overestimating that fool?" their younger daughter suddenly snorted from the side. "I was watching earlier. At most, Qin Long knows Zhao Ruoying. And since Mrs. Zhao is a major client of the Tang Family, that’s not surprising at all. But Director Jiang never even gave Qin Long a proper look. They’re strangers, okay?"

Hearing this, Zhang ide instantly recalled the scene, and Li Mingjie managed to get back on his feet.

"So they just t. What’s so scary about that?" the daughter continued. "Do you really think one word from Qin Long could cost my brother-in-law his position? Do you think Qin Long is even capable of that? I don’t know what you’re all so worried about."

The family suddenly understood. In their panic, they had been clutching at straws. Looking back, it was clear Qin Long didn’t know Director Jiang. Especially when Zhao Ruoying was helping him, Director Jiang had remained completely indifferent, not even sparing him a glance. It had been a false alarm. Besides, even if Qin Long was friends with Zhao Ruoying, how could that influence the appointnts of governnt officials? It wasn’t like they didn’t have wealthy friends of their own.

With a sneer, Zhang ide took the cup of tea he had offered his sister and poured its contents directly into the trash can. He returned to his seat, his expression once again insufferably proud.

Watching her uncle’s swift change in attitude, Tang Xuewu shook her head helplessly. It wasn’t that she was heartless or unwilling to help. So people were simply undeserving.

「In another, suprely luxurious room.」

Qin Long, Zhao Ruoying, Jiang Haijing, and a few middle-aged, well-to-do won sat together. Among them, only Zhao Ruoying treated Qin Long with imnse respect. The others were clearly disdainful. After all, Qin Long isn’t a person of power, so there’s no need to fawn over him. Moreover, he’s from the lower class and disabled. Dining at the sa table with us is already a stroke of great fortune. To be honest, our paths will never cross again. Still, they had to give Zhao Ruoying face, so they simply ignored Qin Long rather than openly mocking him.

"Mr. Qin, please feel free to order whatever you’d like," Zhao Ruoying said, respectfully handing him the tablet nu. "I need to discuss a private matter with Director Jiang first."

"Alright, you go ahead," Qin Long replied with a faint smile.

Zhao Ruoying turned to her other guest, smiling as she lit a won’s cigarette for Jiang Haijing. "Director Jiang, you ntioned earlier that you had sothing to discuss with ? Whatever it is, as long as I, Zhao Ruoying, can do it, I will definitely help."

"Him..." Jiang Haijing gestured awkwardly toward Qin Long with her chin. So matters were between won, and it wasn’t appropriate for an outsider to overhear. Her intention was clear: she wanted Qin Long to leave for a mont.

"Director Jiang, Mr. Qin is my great benefactor. You can trust him," Zhao Ruoying stated firmly.

"Sister Ying, what I an is..." Jiang Haijing began, but trailed off when Zhao Ruoying gave her a look of absolute certainty.

This surprised Director Jiang. After a mont’s thought, she said, "I heard that you have a dical expert in your employ, Boss Zhao. A chronic ailnt of mine has been acting up again, and countless specialists have been unable to help. I was hoping to ask if it might be possible for this master to prescribe sothing for ." As she spoke, a blush crept onto her face, as if there was sothing truly embarrassing she couldn’t bring herself to say.

"What kind of old injury is it?" Zhao Ruoying asked.

At the question, Jiang Haijing looked down again, darting a glance at Qin Long from the corner of her eye. "It’s... inconvenient to say."

Jiang Haijing ground her teeth, a surge of anger rising within her. You’re a man in a room full of won; don’t you have the sense to excuse yourself for a mont? So tactless!

"Director Jiang, please don’t be embarrassed," Zhao Ruoying said, her voice filled with sudden excitent. "This is incredibly fortunate! I can guarantee, no matter what the ailnt is, even if the Zhao Family’s own dical experts can’t treat it... Mr. Qin can definitely cure it!"

She looked at Qin Long with a fervent gaze.

Hearing this, Jiang Haijing and the other won were completely baffled. This Qin Long is a doctor? And judging from Zhao Ruoying’s tone, a highly skilled one at that? How is that possible? He’s so young. Besides, he has a limp himself. They managed to suppress their laughter only out of respect for Zhao Ruoying.

"Forget it," Jiang Haijing said with a sigh. "Just pretend I never said anything."
