Zhao Ruoying pondered for a mont before speaking cautiously. Qin Long listened and then nodded helplessly. "Alright, it looks like I’ll have to trouble you again."
"You’re being too serious, Qin Long. We’re friends, after all!"
Afterward, Qin Long returned to the Tang Family’s small courtyard. He was no longer using the Golden Needle for treatnt. Instead, he sat on his bed, staring blankly at the brocade box in his hands. If it were a fully matured Snow Heart Grass, he would have eaten it without hesitation. But this was a plant that was less than three years old. He didn’t dare to try it, fearing it might cause permanent damage to his ridians. At that point, any promise of a reward for Tang Xuewu would beco empty words, and revenge against Qiu Hu would be impossible. So, Qin Long could only wait until Zhao Ruoying found a nine-year-old, fully matured Snow Heart Grass.
"Sigh."
Qin Long placed the brocade box into a nearby drawer and gazed at the moon, lost in thought. He began to summarize the events of the past few days and formulate the next steps of his plan. This was a habit he had acquired from his ti as the Heavenly Dragon. During his ten years in the military, he constantly had to devise plans for a rapidly changing battlefield. As the commander of the Heavenly Dragon Army, he couldn’t afford to take his brothers’ lives lightly. A single oversight could reverse the tide of battle and lead to countless casualties. Therefore, Qin Long had grown accustod to making plans and reflecting alone in the dead of night.
Zhang ilan hadn’t scolded Qin Long today, seeing as he had been performing well recently. The Tang Family, however, still saw him as a complete waste of space and refused to acknowledge that he had saved their patriarch. They even suspected he was simply looking for an opportunity to shalessly cling to the family. Qin Long couldn’t have cared less, as he had acted solely for Tang Xuewu’s sake. No one else mattered.
So, Zhao Ruoying ant the people from the Supervision Departnt weren’t sent by her or Jiang Haijing. Then who could it be? Although Wu Mulan hadn’t stated her intentions explicitly, her words implied she wanted to protect . But I don’t know her at all. She must have been tipped off by soone. Besides Jiang Haijing, who else could it be? After all, he’s the only official I know in Jiangzhong. The Supervision Departnt, with its power over life and death, usually doesn’t concern itself with local trifles, and it certainly wouldn’t visit a minor patrol house. Could it be Old Master Tang? That’s a real possibility, considering how renowned Tang Ruolan was back in the day and how many people she helped. But he would never help ; he’s dead set on driving out of the Tang Family now. Who is this person working behind the scenes? I even considered a warlord who dominates a region, but those people are completely unrelated to . All my forces are at the Southern Heavenly Dragon Army headquarters. Or could it be that Qiu Hu’s subordinates have discovered my whereabouts?
The mont Qin Long considered this, his brow furrowed tightly. That would be the worst possible outco.
Or perhaps Wu Mulan is also one of Qiu Hu’s subordinates. If so, Qiu Hu will make a move against soon. And right now, I have no contact with the Heavenly Dragon Army. If Qiu Hu were to risk it all, I would probably not escape death. Moreover, Qiu Hu is certainly not the man he once was. Even if he didn’t beco the commander of the Heavenly Dragon Army, his position is still incredibly powerful. Killing now would be far too easy for him.
Qin Long scratched his head helplessly.
Or... could it be Yue’er?
After much deliberation, and recalling the powerful expert who had approached him in Jiangzhong, Xiao Lingyue seed the most likely candidate. She was his master’s daughter, his junior martial sister, his closest relative. That had to be why she was the first person he called when his mories returned. If soone was going to such lengths to help him, it had to be Xiao Lingyue.
At that mont, Qin Long’s confidence soared.
Since Yue’er has co to Jiangzhong, she must have set a plan in motion. My, Qin Long’s, coback and return to the Heavenly Dragon Army are just a matter of ti.
Suddenly, a stunningly beautiful face slowly approached as Tang Xuewu entered Qin Long’s room.
"A’Long, I had a feeling you’d be daydreaming."
Tang Xuewu was dressed in a sheer nightgown that perfectly displayed her long, slender figure. Her partially dried, jet-black hair fell over her fragrant shoulders, and her fair, lustrous skin was all the more enticing under the moonlight.
"How did you know?" Qin Long asked, looking at Tang Xuewu with so surprise.
Tang Xuewu rolled her beautiful eyes, slowly stroking her hair as she sat down beside him with a smile. A faint, pleasant scent from her body drifted around Qin Long, making it hard to control his desires.
"It was you who saved Grandpa, and yet the Tang family doesn’t believe you," she said, lowering her head with so embarrassnt and nervously rubbing her hands. "You must feel terrible about it."
"It’s nothing, really," Qin Long replied with a faint smile.
"I understand you, A’Long. You don’t have to hide it from ." Tang Xuewu’s long eyelashes trembled slightly as she gently brought over a basin of warm water to help Qin Long wash his feet. "You wouldn’t have done anything if it wasn’t for . And because of it, you were misunderstood and even scolded. I..."
Tang Xuewu tenderly soaked Qin Long’s feet in the dicinal water. It had been like this for three years, but now that he had regained his mory, she felt sowhat shy. Today, she felt she had to personally give him the dicinal bath to make up for the wrong he had suffered.
"Don’t be sad. I don’t care about them at all," Qin Long said gently. "In the entire Tang Family, you’re the only one I care about."
He then reached out and took her hand, signaling that he could wash his own feet. The mont he touched her, Tang Xuewu’s face flushed crimson, and her heart began to pound like a frantic fawn. Yet, she didn’t pull away. She suddenly lifted her head and looked at Qin Long.
"A’Long, everyone says you’re a fool, but I don’t believe it. Otherwise, how could you say such sweet things? You must have been pretending all along, and only a fool like would be willing to be deceived by you." At this mont, she sounded a little upset.
"It’s not sweet talk. It’s my promise to you," Qin Long declared, looking at her seriously. He was completely clueless about matters between n and won.
"You’re getting naughtier and naughtier!" Tang Xuewu quickly lowered her head and continued to rinse his right foot with the dicinal liquid.
She was so skilled at this. For three years, day after day, she had tended to him, massaging his right leg. Tang Xuewu could now be considered a master masseuse. A smile unwittingly crept onto Qin Long’s lips. How many girls would unhesitatingly take care of a strange man for three years as she had? Even if that man was once her fiancé? It’s said that ti reveals a person’s true heart. Tang Xuewu never knew if Qin Long, the good-for-nothing in the eyes of the Tang Family, would ever recover. But she never gave up.
"Xuewu, thank you for these three years," Qin Long said with imnse sincerity, swallowing hard.
"Alright, alright," she said, setting the basin aside. "I’ll massage you on the bed. This is very inconvenient."
She draped Qin Long’s arm over her shoulder. Pushing off with her right foot, she braced her body behind his. A soft warmth instantly pressed tightly against him as she prepared to move him onto the bed. For three years, Tang Xuewu had been his sole caregiver; not even her parents had helped. Tang De had sotis wanted to lend a hand, but Zhang ilan’s fierce glares always forced him to back down. Thus, the burden had fallen on Tang Xuewu’s delicate shoulders, a burden she had carried for three long years.
