Killing Chaos Eaters was as easy as breathing.

Halo had summoned his clones back after a few dozen kills. While Tough and Light ca across nothing peculiar, their kills gave Halo sothing interesting to dwell on.

All the Chaos Eaters killed were Perverted Sinners.

Perverted Sinners were ant to be stronger than Toddler Sinners, but judging by how easily the clones killed them, Toddler Sinners appeared even stronger.

He initially wanted them to kill more to see if they were actually beyond Perverted Sinners, but that could raise suspicions.

He wondered how pathetic the Chaos Eaters might look, given how pitiful they were, but since neither Light nor Tough could speak, he’d have to figure that out himself.

But if they could only be that feeble toward brainless creatures, he needed to train his mind to stay calm enough to see it. This was bound to help him calm all the Sin Fragnts Sunday and Saint were racking up too, before he went insane.

Despite his discovery, he needed to head to the library and keep an eye on the librarian.

However, before he could exit the inn, Silas approached him. The nacing glare from the previous night was evident in his eyes.

Halo was confused for a mont. Silas wore a forced smile that made his eyes look even more agitated, and worse, he couldn’t tell what this was about since he hadn’t eaten any of his als since yesterday.

Silas slamd his fists on the counter, his face twisting as though he found his own actions cringeworthy.

"I need to know if you truly enjoy my als. I really need to know..."

The look on his face. It was as if he’d die if Halo didn’t give him a response. This made Halo uncomfortable. He couldn’t tell if this was nothing but Silas’s passion for food or if it had sothing to do with his Purpose.

Either way, he knew the best move was to tell Silas sothing noteworthy and hope it was enough to settle everything.

He sighed.

"You’re certain you won’t throw a tantrum?"

Silas nodded repeatedly.

Halo exhaled.

"Well, then... a friend prepared a rich al not long ago, and I can’t taste anyone else’s al except for hers since then."

Silas’s mouth parted in surprise. Halo grew more confused seeing him in that state, but he had no intention of sticking around. He didn’t want Silas locking his collar like he did to the last guy.

He exited the inn without saying another word.

On his way to the library, the intense stares kept coming. It was as though the people hated him for just wanting a read.

They were all naive. Halo would have bet his life that even if it was sohow proven that the guards of StoneHaven were the corporations behind the Chaos Eaters and not the librarian, they still wouldn’t stop blaming the poor girl.

He’d seen enough. Besides, he wasn’t here to please anyone. He had to get rid of the citadel’s threat, and that was what he’d do.

At the library, he was t by the girl once again, and unlike the previous day, she smiled a lot this ti. She had suspected Halo wouldn’t return.

Perhaps he’d learn about the rumors spreading about her and stay away from the library entirely. But to see him there again supposedly made her happy to the core. It was impossible to miss.

But Halo was no amateur. In his past life, he’d slaughtered even priests and monks involved in sex trafficking and sexual abuse. The brightest people could be the worst when the lights were off.

Even so, he barely noticed anything unusual about her. Everything indicated she was just human, a friendly one at that. After getting nothing but smiles and giggles for hours, he returned to the inn before night could fall.

However, right at the door, Silas gestured for him to take a seat. It was as if he’d waited there the entire day, just waiting on Halo.

The mont Halo sat at a table, Silas joined him. Halo thought Silas was going to serve him his best cuisine to help with his predicant, but instead, he wanted to talk.

"Are you sure? You really can’t taste any al other than your friend’s?"

Halo’s eyes squinted slightly, and he nodded.

Silas took a deep breath.

"I don’t personally prepare the als here. I just tell the staff exactly what to do, and they handle the cooking."

Halo leaned into his seat.

"I don’t get to cook for everyone, just people like you. I’m bound to serve twenty in my lifeti. In twenty-five years, I’ve served eighteen. If I can make a al you truly enjoy... then I’ll be down to my last one."

It had everything to do with his Purpose after all. But this also ant if Halo couldn’t taste the al, Silas would fail his Purpose.

That was such a cruel fate. His entire existence was based on whether he could cook als for ageusic people that they could eat and enjoy. It was a miracle he’d survived eighteen tis.

"Tell about the al your friend prepared. I want to make it for you myself, and... I think I can make it even better."

Halo frowned.

"This is too risky. Your life hangs on whether I enjoy a al. That’s... absurd."

Silas smiled.

"I’ve spent twenty-five years on this Purpose and prepared eighteen als that made a difference. I can’t guarantee results, but I think it’s fair to say I might be able to restore your sense of taste."

Halo nodded in understanding. Silas wasn’t wrong.

He went on to explain the beef curry Seraphim had prepared in detail. He answered every question Silas asked about the al to the best of his ability. By the ti he finished, Silas could explain the texture and taste so thoroughly that Halo began to sll the al again.

"Just give a little ti. I want to prepare for this carefully so I can bring you the right al."

Silas said, burning passion in his eyes, but Halo had already had enough of their chat.

He’d intended to train, but their conversation went on until midnight, leaving him too verbally exhausted for any kind of training.

But his eagerness couldn’t be so easily swayed. He sent Tough and Light out to get a few Chaos Eaters before finally falling asleep.
