Ch.53 The Stubborn Maid
“Aina, go get
all the martial techniques from the first floor.”
For so reason, whenever Luo Nan needed a maid to assist him, the young maid Aina would coincidentally appear right before his eyes.
He didn’t think much of it and, following his ‘anyone’s fine’ mindset, brought Aina straight into the library.
“Yes, Young Master!”
The little maid Aina replied cheerfully, then scampered across the library’s spotless floor with her silk-stockinged feet making soft pat-pat sounds.
Clearly, Aina had once again followed her inner preference and entered the library barefoot.
For the record, Luo Nan didn’t care—after all, the library’s automatic cleaning runes would handle any ss.
In no ti at all, the petite maid returned, wobbling under a stack of books taller than her head.
Luo Nan worried she might have another accident hauling so many at once.
Fortunately, this ti his concern was unnecessary. Even with her vision blocked by the towering pile, Aina successfully deposited all the martial technique manuals onto the desk.
“Whew… Young Master, this is just a small portion. I’ll go fetch the rest right away!”
Without waiting for Luo Nan’s reply, Aina dashed off again in a flurry.
Luo Nan looked at the teetering stack on the desk and picked it up to test its weight.
“Whoa… without activating my vital energy, my pure physical strength finds this pretty heavy.”
“So how did she carry this massive pile like it was nothing?”
This puzzled him.
“Maybe the manor’s been secretly intensifying maid physical training—after all, every ti I’ve called for her lately, it’s been to haul heavy stuff.”
“Guilty as charged… I’m a cruel noble brat exploiting maid labor. I repent…”
After a brief internal confession, Luo Nan picked up the top manual and began flipping through it slowly.
“This one… looks trashy at first glance. Not learning it.”
“Young Master, here’s the second batch.” Aina returned with another stack just as tall as the first and dropped it onto the desk with a thump.
“Hmm.”
“This technique looks decent, but it’s too… girly. Doesn’t suit my image. Skip it.”
“Young Master, third batch.” Aina ca back with yet another load.
“Put it here. By the way, how much is left?”
Aina tilted her head and replied, “About two-thirds.”
“Take a break. This is plenty for
to sort through for a while.”
Noticing the fine beads of sweat already gathering on Aina’s flushed cheeks, Luo Nan added gently, “You’ve done enough.”
“I’m fine, Young Master!”
“Uh… that’s not what I ant.”
Luo Nan suddenly recalled that last ti he’d brought Aina to the library, she’d tripped and fallen due to a misstep. He’d told her to rest and let soone else help—and that remark had triggered an intense reaction from her.
She was an extrely prideful little maid.
“No, Young Master, I really am fine!”
“…”
“Young Master, I can still…”
“Alright, alright, I get it! I’m not replacing you—just catch your breath. Besides, there’s barely any space left on the desk anyway.”
He pointed to the circular desk, now completely covered in martial arts manuals.
“Rest for now. Once I finish sorting through this batch, you can continue.”
He genuinely feared she’d push herself so hard she’d faint from exhaustion.
That would weigh heavily on his conscience.
After all, Luo Nan was simply that kind of person.
By the ti the sun began to set, Luo Nan had flipped through nearly every martial technique in the library—yet still hadn’t found one that t his requirents.
Gazing at the mountain of manuals piled across the desk, he let out a long sigh.
“All I want is a quick-to-learn martial art—powerful, subtle in activation, and hard for others to detect. Why is that so hard to find?”
“Young Master… here’s… the last batch!”
He turned to see Aina approaching, clutching a final stack of manuals that rose well above her small head.
“Be careful, don’t—”
Oof!
“…Never mind. My bad for saying anything.”
Predictably, an accident occurred.
Already drenched in sweat, barefoot, and her vision fully blocked by the books, Aina stumbled near the desk—now littered with manuals Luo Nan had tossed aside.
Luo Nan hesitated to look at the ss she’d surely made—probably sprawled flat on the floor again…
“Young Master… sorry…”
Luo Nan sighed, walked around the desk to the ‘cri scene,’ and found only a modest book pile—just large enough to bury a petite maid.
At its base, two slender legs clad in snug white stockings protruded.
The bare feet at their ends—soft, delicate, and possibly cramping—were stretched taut and trembling slightly.
“Mm… ahem.”
At that mont, a small head popped out from the summit of the book heap. She shook her tousled chestnut hair, her pretty erald eyes dazed and unfocused as they locked onto Luo Nan.
“Oh! Young Master… I…”
The girl patted her disheveled hair, her panic deepening. “Where’s my maid hairband?”
“I told you not to push yourself—look what happened.”
Helpless, Luo Nan crouched down and began moving the books off her, stacking them back on the desk one by one.
“Can you stand?”
“Yes!”
“Ah… not really…”
As Luo Nan supported her in rising, Aina managed to get halfway up before her legs buckled, and she collapsed limply into his arms.
“Cramp in your ankle?”
“Mm…”
She buried her face in his broad chest, clutching his robe tightly, her nose instinctively inhaling his scent.
“Young Master slls… so good…”
Luo Nan gave up worrying about propriety. He scooped Aina up and set her on the desk like a doll.
“Y-Young Master!?”
“Sit still.”
“O-oh!”
Aina’s mind short-circuited. Unbidden, her thoughts drifted to her sisters’ advice and passages from the ‘Maiden’s Glory Handbook’:
‘A proper maid must satisfy her master’s needs at any ti, in any place.’
‘Could it be… Young Master wants to do that with … here?
‘Bear with it, Aina. It might hurt a little.’
With that, Luo Nan grasped her silk-clad foot, activated his power, and channeled vital energy into his fingertips.
The texture felt surprisingly nice—soft and smooth.
No—focus on the task.
He located the cramped tendon and applied sharp pressure with his fingers.
“Aah… haa…”
The girl arched her head back, lips parting in a soft, involuntary moan.
“Done. I’ve released the cramp. Should be fine now.”
Luo Nan withdrew his hand and returned to his chair behind the desk.
Aina tested her ankle, extending her toes to tap the floor gently.
“Hey, it really doesn’t cramp anymore! Thank you, Young Master!”
After confirming it worked, she hopped off the desk, tiptoed over to Luo Nan, and knelt beside him. “Young Master, let
clean up!”
“Mm.”
Luo Nan gave a casual reply and picked up a manual that had been sitting under Aina’s backside.
“Let’s see… Thunderflash Step?”
