Ch.50 Clumsy Maid

“Master, shall I assist you with dressing?”

As the young maid Aina spoke, she opened the wardrobe in Luo Nan’s room and hung each of her freshly ironed garnts inside.

Then she hurried to the bedside, her large, vivid green eyes brimming with energy. “Wake up, Master! It’s already noon!”

“Up!”

Luo Nan overca the comfort of his blankets through sheer willpower and suddenly threw them off.

As he sat upright, he nearly collided with Aina’s nose.

The girl clearly hadn’t anticipated the abruptness of his movent—the velvet thin blanket brushed past her delicate nose, sending a fine strand of fluff floating into the air, which she inhaled involuntarily.

“Ahh… ah-choo!”

The fluff tickled the sensitive nerves in her nasal cavity, and without thinking, she turned her head and covered her face with both hands, letting out a soft, drowsy sneeze right in front of Luo Nan.

“M-Master, sorry, sorry! I didn’t an to—”

Clearly realizing her lapse in decorum, Aina blushed furiously and apologized to Luo Nan.

“It’s fine. My movents were too sudden—I didn’t notice you.”

Luo Nan had grown accustod to her clumsiness—this had happened before in the library.

“Master, what would you like to wear today?”

Turning her back to straighten herself, Aina resud her sweet smile and bowed slightly, as instructed by ‘The Book of Maid’s Glory’, as she asked Luo Nan.

“Hmm… whatever. I have decision paralysis.”

Before awakening his past mories, Luo Nan had never cared much about daily attire—every garnt in the Duke’s mansion was designed equally for comfort, elegance, and style.

As a living hanger, Luo Nan believed he looked good in anything.

“Then…”

Hearing Luo Nan’s answer, the maid imdiately turned to retrieve the outfit she loved most from the wardrobe.

Aina spun rapidly beside the bed, her maid skirt fluttering upward—in that fleeting glimpse, Luo Nan, whose senses had been enhanced by vital energy, caught sight of her attire for the day.

Again, white lace suspenders reaching to the upper thigh—and above that—

Not light green.

But… light yellow.

Strangely consistent with her previous choice.

But that wasn’t the point. The point was Luo Nan noticed Aina’s apron strings weren’t properly tied—they fluttered behind her like two white snakes, and inevitably swept across the water glass on the nightstand.

Fortunately, Luo Nan was already a first-tier warrior. In the instant before the glass fell, he activated his strength, reaching out to catch it firmly—without spilling a single drop of water.

“Huh?” Sensing the commotion behind her, Aina turned around again.

She instantly realized what had happened.

“I-I’m so sorry, Master! I was careless again!”

“…” Luo Nan placed the glass down, helplessly saying: “It’s fine. Just be more careful next ti. Oh, by the way—tie your apron strings properly.”

“Yes… yes!”

After tying them securely, Aina moved less frantically, slowly approaching the wardrobe and retrieving her favorite outfit with deliberate slowness, then returning to Luo Nan’s side with equal slowness.

“This set is…”

Aina swallowed. “Dark blue double-breasted formal coat, with… silver-thread embroidered vest,” she stamred. “You ordered it last night.”

This was the outfit she had ironed three tis secretly—she loved seeing Master in dark colors, as it made his pale skin resemble a marble statue in a museum.

“Did I say that?”

Luo Nan didn’t rember giving such an order last night.

“When you returned last night, I asked you…”

“Ah, alright. Then wear this.”

Luo Nan raised his arm, signaling Aina to dress him.

The girl gently placed the garnts down, her porcelain-white fingers lightly touching the first button of Luo Nan’s pajama top. Whether intentionally or unintentionally, her fingertips grazed his chest, causing a faint tingling sensation.

But the feeling vanished instantly. Aina skillfully undid his pajamas, revealing his sculpted, flawless physique beneath.

Luo Nan waited patiently as Aina prepared to put on his shirt.

“Aina, the shirt?”

Yet Luo Nan closed his eyes and waited a long while—still no further action from the maid. He prompted her.

“Oh! Yes!”

The girl snapped back from staring at Luo Nan’s body, hastily shaking out the shirt—only to realize she’d taken it backwards.

By the ti she finally figured out the complicated outfit, Luo Nan had already fastened his own pants.

When tying the tie, Aina’s hands trembled even more—her fingertips repeatedly brushed against Luo Nan’s throat.

“It’s too tight,” Luo Nan frowned.

“I’ll adjust it right away!” Aina clumsily fumbled with the knot, only to discover she’d tied it into a dead lock.

“Ugh…”

Watching the maid make yet another mistake, Luo Nan no longer knew what to say. He grabbed Aina’s wrist. “Forget it—I’ll do it myself. Ties are uncomfortable anyway.”

With that, he applied slight pressure—snapping the knotted tie cleanly in half.

“Phew. No restraints feel better.”

He casually handed the ruined tie to Aina and asked: “Breakfast? No—lunch. What’s on the nu?”

Aina folded the tie Luo Nan gave her and tucked it beneath her apron. After a mont’s thought, she replied: “Master, since you’ve just woken, heavy foods aren’t advisable… Creamy mushroom soup, roasted cod with lemon sauce, and herb bread.”

“Fine. By the way—is my father ho?”

“No, Lord Duke is not present.”

Luo Nan nodded slightly. “Bring my portion to the training chamber—I won’t go to the dining hall.”

“Yes, Master.” Aina bowed.

Once Luo Nan left the bedroom, Aina took out the torn tie again, brought it close to her nose, and sniffed it gently—then suddenly snapped back to reality.

“I must… nd this tie for Master!”

After eating the lunch Aina brought him, Luo Nan pulled from his coat the trophies from last night—two scales from the corner of a rmaid’s eye, and the now-dull ‘Saint’s Blood’.

After a brief hesitation, Luo Nan decided to face the bitter first—“Better to get it over with. I’ll have to apologize to Mr. Tree.”

With that thought, Luo Nan closed his eyes, and his consciousness traveled along the connection point, returning once more to the starry void.

The cosmic, multicolored spiral tree still stood at the center of the heavens—unchanging, eternal.

Luo Nan paused, composed his thoughts, and addressed the Infinite Tree at the center: ‘Mr. Tree, I have sothing to report to you.’

Shhhhh—

The tree’s canopy rustled slightly. Luo Nan understood it ant: “Go on.”

‘This is it: although I successfully completed the task you assigned —to obtain the ‘Essence’—sothing unexpected happened…’

Here, he saw no reaction from the Infinite Tree. He swallowed hard and continued: ‘I acquired the divine essence you required, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to use it to save myself. Therefore… I am deeply sorry, Mr. Tree.’

Shhhhhhhh—

This ti, the aning was…

Yet Luo Nan sensed no reply from the Infinite Tree.

[She told you to bring the object containing the divine essence here.]
