Ch.38 Secured, Preparing the Next Step

“Naturally, esteed custor, the dium you provided is indeed authentic.”

“But regarding its valuation… we can only offer 80 Gold Faras.”

The Exchange staff respectfully addressed the smiling dwarf.

“What?” The dwarf was clearly dissatisfied with this offer, but after reconsidering—he realized the object he presented was literally prohibited within prohibited items, and he urgently needed to liquidate it. He lowered his voice and replied, “Fine… eighty… eighty it is!”

Upon receiving confirmation, the staff imdiately produced four rolls of gold coins and handed them steadily to the dwarf. “Please inspect—here are all 80 Gold Faras.”

“You’ve been planning this all along, haven’t you?” The dwarf took the coins with a forced, toothy smile.

“We rely jest—you are the final arbiter of the decision, after all.”

With that, the staff placed the ‘Curse Skull’ into a designated container, bowed respectfully, and swiftly departed.

“290 Gold Faras!”

Ard with the four rolls of gold coins, the smiling dwarf seed reborn—his voice regained its forr boldness.

But…

“All your wealth, in my eyes, is but a laughable speck of dust.”

Luo Nan found amusent in the dwarf’s self-satisfied expression. Rather than imdiately crushing him after he confidently bid, he preferred seeing him collapse in despair at the final step.

“Ahh… my spoiled noble brat tendencies are getting hard to control again. But no matter—it’s perfectly justified. Since he brought out such an item, he must be connected to followers of ‘Nature’. Mocking him is righteous execution.”

With this thought, the last flicker of guilt within Luo Nan vanished entirely.

“290 Gold Faras once.”

No one else bid.

“290 Gold Faras twice.”

Still no one else bid.

Just as the smiling dwarf straightened his posture, breathing heavily, awaiting the auctioneer’s hamr strike—another unwelco voice rang out.

“400 Faras.”

The rough male voice shattered the balance like a bomb. When four hundred was uttered, the entire temporary auction hall erupted in shock.

Nurous attendees turned instinctively toward Luo Nan’s direction, as if trying to etch the golden crow-beak mask into their minds.

Where did this rich person co from? How casually does he treat money!

Even raising it to three hundred would have been astonishing—but you jumped straight to four hundred?!

That’s a difference of a full hundred Gold Faras!

Anya’s golden eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Luo Nan. The girl strained her mory—she couldn’t recall ever witnessing anyone so extravagantly wasteful before!

Oh, except for Luo Nan von dillion—that didn’t count.

Wicked noble playboys were beyond Anya’s comparison standards.

If she had received one hundred Faras, after paying her exorbitant tuition fees for four years at the Radiance University, she’d still have plenty left over!

And yet, this massive sum was simply tossed away by so man wearing a golden crow-beak mask?

“Evil rich people…”

Especially since that golden crow-beak-masked individual had repeatedly outbid her for the ‘scale from the corner of a rmaid’s eye’,” leaving her empty-handed at the auction’s end.

Thinking of this, Anya’s already jealous heart burned even hotter.

“No—I must…”

The girl ntally rehearsed her planned actions after the auction concluded and made slight adjustnts.

“That’s settled!”

“400… 400 Faras?”

The smiling dwarf doubted whether he’d misheard—had that golden crow-beak mask suddenly raised the bid to 400 Gold Faras?!

Before Luo Nan spoke, the dwarf had considered he might raise his bid further. In his estimation, once Luo Nan reached 300 Faras, he could use several decent pieces of rchandise under his control as collateral to push the price to roughly 330 or 340 Faras.

In his judgnt, spending over 300 Faras on a divine residue was extrely uneconomical.

Had he not desperately needed funds, he would never have sold his curse skull—and certainly not exhausted all his capital to buy it!

Yet this golden crow-beak mask showed zero rcy, denying him even the slightest chance to struggle.

“Alas… in the end, I still didn’t win?”

Even earlier during the auction, he had noticed the golden crow-beak mask and recognized his financial capacity to compete. He had even taken the risk of malicious bidding to drain as much of Luo Nan’s reserve funds as possible, hoping to increase his own chances at the final round.

Yet he hadn’t anticipated… Luo Nan’s wealth far exceeded his expectations.

“Do one’s best, leave the rest to fate,” the dwarf comforted himself internally.

As for using unconventional ans to seize the item?

He wasn’t foolish enough.

Never mind the unknown background of a man who could casually spend 400 Gold Faras without blinking—even if he succeeded in winning the divine artifact, the Hulos Exchange would guarantee his safety.

Moreover, if needed, the Exchange could dispatch supernatural agents to deliver the purchased item directly to his specified location.

Under these circumstances, if he still entertained any illicit sches…

“Too bad I lost my curse skull—wasted twenty Gold Faras.”

“400 Gold Faras three tis—sold!”

As Auctioneer Leli struck the hamr, the ownership of the ‘residue of divine observation’ was officially confird.

And with that final strike, tonight’s auction ca to an end.

“Hmm, despite the twists and turns, I ultimately achieved my goal.”

Luo Nan followed the staff into a private transaction chamber. After paying a total of 445 Faras, he received two small crystal vials and the transparent rectangular sealed cabinet, which had been wheeled before him.

Luo Nan lifted the two crystal vials, carefully observing the faintly iridescent scales within. “With this item, I now have sufficient confidence to face her threat.”

With this thought, the tension that had weighed on Luo Nan for the past two days finally eased slightly.

His gaze then shifted to the single drop of ‘Saint’s Blood’ inside the sealed cabinet.

Though called ‘Saint’s Blood’, it appeared more like a teardrop-shaped, multicolored crystal, flowing with glacier-like beauty. Even through the sealed cabinet, Luo Nan could sense the overwhelming arcane energies contained within.

“I’m not sure how to deliver it to Mr. Tree. Whatever—take it back first and study it later.”

“Mister Crow, would you like us to assign personnel to escort your ‘residue of divine observation’ to a designated location?” the staff asked respectfully.

“Oh, no need—I’ll carry it myself.”

With that, Luo Nan pulled from within his coat a simple pocket watch engraved with sun, moon, and stars. Its edges were covered in fine verdigris patterns, telling tales of elapsed ti.

He held the watch in his palm and gently touched the transparent sealed cabinet.

Instantly, the 1.7-ter-tall cabinet vanished from space—as if it had never existed.

“Good thing my spatial magic device has ample capacity—enough to contain sothing so bulky.”

Having completed the operation, Luo Nan casually slipped the watch back into his coat and turned to say, “Transaction complete. No need to see

off.”

“You… you take care!”

Only after Luo Nan exited the transaction room did the staff finally snap out of their stunned silence.

But upon reflection, it wasn’t surprising—any custor who casually produced 400 Gold Faras owning a valuable spatial magic artifact was hardly unbelievable.

“Oh no—I forgot to ask Mister Crow if he wanted a Hulos Exclusive mbership Card!”
