Chapter 108. The Xino Covenant (10)
Asked about her identity, Aina proudly puffed out her chest and announced her status as the Young Master's personal maidservant—a position envied by countless people.
That was what Aina believed, at least.
Upon hearing the key phrase "Luo Nan's personal maidservant," Ailin's lashes fluttered faintly, and she broke into a smile of evident interest.
"So you're Mr. dillion's maidservant," Ailin produced her own na card and handed it to Aina. "As you can see, I am an author."
"I have a great interest in Mr. dillion. Might I ask Miss Aina a few questions?"
As her words fell, Ailin repeated the sa technique, a flash of crimson light flickering in her eyes.
"Mm……I can't casually reveal the Young Master's private affairs."
Aina resisted sowhat; she was unwilling to share any information about her Young Master with others, especially soone she was unfamiliar with.
Faced with Aina's refusal, Ailin seed slightly surprised, but she did not give up.
Ailin slipped her high heels back on, rose, and slowly walked over to Aina. She gently took the maidservant's tender little hand in hers and said softly: "Don't worry. I won't let it get out~~"

Luo Nan stroked the scratched Amber Pendant against his chest, hesitated for a brief mont, then channeled a thread of Battle Aura into it.
It was ti to make use of that Cloth-Strip-Face.
"According to my arrangent with Cloth-Strip-Face, once he receives my signal, he will make his way to the location I designated in advance."
"When I t him yesterday, I could indeed sense that he had already broken through to Tier Two, and his foundation had stabilized—though against her, a direct confrontation would be of little use. But……"
"As an unexpected chess piece, he should be able to win
an opportunity to get close to her."
Luo Nan walked to a secluded restroom at the corner and reached into his chest to retrieve the magical hand-cannon known as the Silent Hamr, along with six specially-made Demon-Breaking Rounds.
Those were the Sealed Purifying Light crystals that had blazed brilliantly against the Followers of "Nature."
The crystals had since been fashioned into the shape of rounds, and further enhanced by a Refiner employed by the household, with Supernatural attributes such as "Stealth-Pierce" and "Penetration" affixed to them.
Luo Nan picked up one of the crystal rounds and examined the Magical Circuit patterns covering it, fine as a work of art.
"Excellent craftsmanship—but that Refiner……always feels a bit hard to get along with."
The past few days when Luo Nan had handed over the Purifying Light crystals to that short Refiner who kept his entire body concealed inside a sealed protective suit, he could always hear the man muttering sothing about "wasting Paradoxical Quicksilver" and "squandering tens of thousands of Gold Faras" and the like.
It had left Luo Nan questioning the man's professional competence at the ti.
Fortunately, the Refiner's craftsmanship did not disappoint him.
"I suppose people who work in technical trades all tend to have their little eccentricities. Understandable."
Loading the crystal rounds one by one into the magazine, Luo Nan flipped the magazine shut and gave it a casual spin to confirm the Silent Hamr's chanisms were all functioning properly, then tucked the hand-cannon beneath his formal attire, left the restroom, and headed for the designated eting location.
In the corridor, an unexpected figure ca walking toward him.
"Anya?" Luo Nan called out.
"Luo Nan?" The young woman turned her head and looked at the dark-haired young man hastening up from behind.
"Where are you heading?" Luo Nan was curious about Anya's destination.
To avoid any mishaps during the rendezvous, Luo Nan had deliberately placed the eting point in an extrely secluded Side Hall within Xino Palace, one that almost no one ever visited.
While this path was not the only route to reach the Side Hall, it was essentially the "dedicated passage" to that particular room.
There was no other reason for it—if one's destination were anywhere else, there would be no need to take this roundabout road.
'This person is here for the first ti. Perhaps they got lost.'
Luo Nan suppressed the sowhat absurd conjecture in his mind and replaced it with the more reasonable explanation.
"Oh, I……I'm not going anywhere in particular. Just wandering around, wandering around." Anya was dazed for a mont, then responded belatedly in an after-the-fact manner.
She had the nagging feeling that she had lost a stretch of mory—it seed as though she had encountered soone, and spoken with them at length, but she could not recall what they had talked about with that person.
She could not even rember the person's features, let alone their gender.
Beyond that, she also felt her thoughts were turning sowhat sluggishly.
As if her mind had been numbed by alcohol.
She had asked Rose beside her, and gotten an answer exactly the sa as hers.
The young woman imdiately recognized the problem.
Anya had originally intended to sort out this "mory loss" issue of hers, but just at that mont, another Amber Pendant she carried on her person suddenly grew warm, forcibly interrupting what she had been working on.
And of all things, on her way to the designated eting point, she had actually run into Luo Nan!
"Aren't you lost? This path doesn't lead to the banquet hall." Luo Nan said.
"Not lost, not lost—I'm just full from eating, taking a post-al stroll to help with digestion……" Anya casually made up a reason to deflect.
She hadn't eaten at all!
More accurately, she had not even caught the tail end of the "Covenant Grand Banquet."
All because of that person who had kept her hard-controlled for so long!
At this thought, the young woman made up her mind—she absolutely had to track down that person and have a proper word or two with him/her.
Luo Nan nodded. "Do as you please, then."
"……What about you, Luo Nan, what are you doing? Shouldn't you be in the banquet hall right now, rubbing elbows with all those nobles?"
"I had too much to drink, so I'm taking a stroll as well." Luo Nan replied with the sa excuse.
"Haha, what a coincidence~~"
"Indeed."
After that exchange, the two fell into a sudden, mutual silence.
In the corridor, there was nothing but the sound of one man's and one woman's footsteps.
"This is a bit of a problem. With this person right beside , I can't even find a chance to wrap myself in cloth strips, let alone change clothes—wearing this unbearable formal gown, there's no way I can fight!" Anya frowned her fine brows.
"What terrible luck—of all tis, I run into Anya at this critical mont. With her right there, I can't even put on my mask and cloak, and I can't let that Cloth-Strip-Face know my identity—otherwise, there's no telling, he might just draw his sword on
first."
Luo Nan furrowed his own brow, recalling yesterday's exchange with Cloth-Strip-Face, and that person's "obsessive devotion" toward Serela and his hostility toward Luo Nan himself.
"That……"
"I'll go first……"
The two spoke at the sa mont.
"You go first……"
"You go first……"
"……"
"……"
"Let
go first then, Anya—could I ask you to take a different path for your walk? I'd like a mont of quiet to myself." Luo Nan attempted to steer Anya away.
"Ha? You think I want to walk with you? Why don't you take a different path yourself?"
Recalling the "cris" she and Rose had just been "prosecuting" Luo Nan for, and then adding his dismissive remark just now on top of it, the young woman felt a surge of indignation and shot back.
The two stood their ground, eyes locked on each other, neither willing to yield.
The air grew rather still……
A bad premonition took shape in Luo Nan's mind.
To test that bad premonition, he casually and inconspicuously produced the scratched Amber Pendant that Cloth-Strip-Face had given him, intending to probe Anya with it.
"?!"
Seeing the Amber Pendant in Luo Nan's hand, the young woman's eyes went wide in an instant.
