Chapter 104. The Xino Covenant (6)

Rose chewed her lip, her almond eyes flickering. After a mont's thought, she composed a pitiful, aggrieved expression. "A—Anya Miss, there's a reason for this……"

"What reason?"

Rose hung her head slightly and reached up to dab at the corner of her eye, the very picture of a wronged young bride.

"I was threatened by Luo Nan……"

"What?! How did he threaten you?"

As expected—hearing what Rose said, Anya imdiately widened both eyes and asked with so urgency.

"……" Rose said nothing, only kept pressing at the tearstains at her eye corners.

"What exactly happened?" Seeing Rose's expression, Anya imdiately sensed the gravity of the situation.

She thought about Luo Nan's reputation, then thought about his behavior on the various occasions when he'd been in contact with her.

'Would Luo Nan really do sothing like that?'

'No—a sowhat functioning brain doesn't an a person isn't bad. Isn't there a saying: point in the wrong direction, and the smarter the brain the worse the villain!'

'But that fellow……'

Anya couldn't help but recall the mont in the Listone Mine Shaft when Luo Nan had thrown himself in front of her to take a blow.

'Would he really be capable of sothing like that?'

Setting aside the initial hot-blooded surge, Anya found herself a little uncertain again.

After thinking it over, she decided she'd better hear what Rose had to say before making up her mind.

"Miss Rose, could you explain in detail? If it's truly as you say, I will definitely help you!"

Out of the corner of her eye, Rose glanced at Anya's expression, and a barely perceptible curve appeared at the corner of her mouth.

"It's like this, Miss Anya…… Luo Nan—he once snuck into my ho and stole sothing that was extrely important to ……"

Rose dabbed her tears dry, and spoke in a rambling, tearful account—except for the part about what exactly that "extrely important thing" was, which she left unspecified; everything else regarding ti, location, and so on was fully consistent with the facts.

Naturally, the process of Luo Nan eting with her and taking the photographs was also left out.

'So that's what happened……'

Anya carefully recalled the scene a week ago when she and Luo Nan had returned from the Listone Mine Shaft.

The most critical point: Luo Nan had not returned with her!

From the mont he disappeared inside the Listone Mine Shaft, to the mont he showed up as Rol s to catch the mole at the Duke Manor—there were four-plus hours when his whereabouts were completely unknown!

She had also asked Luo Nan where he had gone during that stretch of ti, but his answer had been vague—he seed unwilling to go into detail.

If what Miss Rose was saying was accurate, then during those three-plus hours, he had been fully capable of going to the Anlute Family Manor to carry out the action of "seizing Rose's important possession"!

'To think that fellow was actually this kind of person……' Anya couldn't help but grind her teeth. At this point she was about eighty percent convinced by what Rose had said.

After all, half a month ago at the Hocoming Banquet, Luo Nan had indeed been alone with Rose in a private room, with no other man or woman present—even if nothing had ultimately gone all the way, whether or not sothing else had occurred between them in that room…… no one else would know.

At this thought, an abrupt wave of discomfort rose through Anya's chest.

'Despicable fellow—exactly as the rumors say, a villain who likes to take advantage of won!'

'No—I'm going to expose that fellow's true face!' Anya resolved inwardly.

"Miss Rose, don't worry—I'll definitely help you with this. He and I are both prospective new students at Radiant University, so I'm bound to have further dealings with him in the future……"

"Then thank you so much, Miss Anya." Rose broke through her tears into a smile, like a pink lily in full bloom.

'Why do I suddenly feel like I've been locked in the crosshairs of so inexplicable malice……'

Having completed his formal entrance for the evening and now holding a wine glass while exchanging pleasantries with various guests, Luo Nan had a persistent sense that sothing was off.

'Is she coming?'

……

"Two lovely ladies, excuse —is this seat taken?"

A voice like heavenly music drifted into Anya and Rose's ears. Both girls turned their heads to look.

All they saw was an exquisitely beautiful woman strolling toward them, dressed in a khaki-colored sweater and a knee-length skirt, wearing glasses and a flat-brim cap.

Anya's eyes went wide on the spot.

No other reason—this beautiful lady's figure was simply…… simply too jaw-dropping!

With the sweater as a fra, those generous curves were displayed to the fullest—a slender waist impossible to encircle with two hands, but then, further down, the curves swept back out again in an instant, and if Anya were to put it into words—

A premium pear-shaped figure.

Beyond that, beneath the lady's glasses were a pair of rose-tinted eyes infused with a thread of subtle allure, long and dense lashes trembling ever so lightly, giving a naturally seductive yet dreamlike impression.

As if she…… didn't belong in this world.

Anya rubbed her eyes. She confird she was seeing this beautiful lady clearly—but why did she have this feeling……

"Hmm…… two ladies?"

She walked over to the two of them, extending a jade-white, boneless hand and waving it gently in front of them.

The slight bow of the waist imdiately set off a ripple of waves at her chest.

"……"

What's the point of being that big?! Must be so inconvenient to move around!

Anya averted her eyes, forcing herself not to look at that soft, generous endownt which even she found sowhat enviable.

She might still grow…… but Anya had no confidence she'd ever grow that big……

Pfft pfft pfft—big chest, empty head!

"Please, ma'am, have a seat—no one's sitting here."

It was Rose who ca to her senses first. She gave her own head a little shake and extended an invitation.

Though she had no idea why she'd instinctively offered the invitation……

There was just sothing about the fragrance coming off this lady that was very pleasant.

"Thank you."

She smiled faintly, pressed her skirt down with one hand, and settled gracefully into the seat.

Even through the fabric of the skirt, Anya could see—pressed against the sofa by the pressure, constrained by the fabric, and nearly spilling over the sides—the softness.

She laughed lightly, crossed her legs with a casual ease, revealing from beneath the long skirt a half-length of exquisitely shaped black-silk legs and black open-toe high heels.

Five plump, rounded toes lacquered with red polish wiggled gently through the thin black silk.

When she removed her cap, Anya noticed that this beautiful lady possessed a mane of hair in an extrely rare and utterly pure vermillion red—though previously, the long hair had been coiled up and pressed under the cap.

"Ma'am, you are……" Rose was the first to ask.

"Ailin—Ailin Hilde," she drew out her na card and presented it to both Anya and Rose in turn. "As you may have gathered, I am a writer, and I had the good fortune to be invited to the Contract Banquet between Mr. dillion and Her Highness the Fourth Princess."

"Ah, it's Miss Ailin—delighted to et you." Rose smiled, slipping naturally into noble social mode.

Although she had not heard the na Ailin before, Opalia, as a tropolis with a resident population of several million, naturally had so notable figures whose nas one would simply never have co across—and that was entirely normal.

Ailin graced them with a captivating smile, her gaze drifting softly over to Rose. "You are Rose—Miss Rose Anlute? I have heard of your na……"

Flattered by Ailin's praise, and under the assault of that irresistible all-gender charm, even Rose found herself floating a little.

"Not—nothing quite so remarkable as you say……"

Ailin narrowed her beautiful eyes with a hint of amusent. She propped her chin on her hand, and shifted her attention to Anya at her side.

"This lovely young lady—I believe you must be Anya Sivans?"

"Huh? Miss Ailin actually knows

too?"
